    Friend who has a 2013 Gold Wing test rode the new Wing with automatic, said didn't like the fact that it downshifts going around turns. Another point......Any different with no clutch in slow turn maneuvers ?

    • @motorman857
      @motorman857  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The only difference is you don't have to worry about proper clutch control. A little throttle, and a little pressure on the rear brake and of course, head and eyes.

      Push forward on the left grip and the bike leans left, and goes left. Push forward on the right grip and the bike leans right and goes right. For more detail and to see it in action, get my Ride Like a Pro video. Two hours of the best tips and tricks you'll ever find. ridelikeapro.com

    What do think of the concours? Would you buy one?

      It's a fine motorcycle. If I was in the market for a sport tourer I'd take a hard look at that bike.

    Jerry why swing so wide at the end compared to your partner? Is the Concours more difficult?

    • @motorman857
      @motorman857  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Because I wasn't sure where he was going to go.

    Do you find the higher center of gravity on the Concours to be more difficult to maneuver?

    • @motorman857
      @motorman857  6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      No. The center of gravity means nothing when you know the proper techniques and how to use them. They even use these Kawasaki's as police bikes and are often in the police rodeos,

      Jerry, I have a Kawasaki Nomad 1600 cruiser and a Triumph Trophy Sports Tourer and I can tell you that they handle completely different than each other. I follow a lot of your tips but the two bikes handle so differently from one another. The sports tourer, in my opinion, you have to rev it a lot more than the cruiser to load up the back wheel with torque, but your body position is much more upright which allows you to transition your weight side to side when making sharp turns. Watch the motorcycle cops using them you can clearly see they move their body all over the seat, which is impossible to do on the cruiser. I spend countless hours in the parking lots practicing turning in 2 parking stalls. The center of gravity catches you out a lot sooner on the Triumph than the Nomad as the weight is at least 12 inches higher than the cruiser. The technique is the same but the transitions are completely different. Plus the fact that lots of plastic is going to break when it goes down.
      I get older bikers asking me what the hell I'm doing in the shopping mall parking lot at 7 in the morning on a Sunday. I tell them I'm perfecting my trade, there's nothing like pulling into a coffee stop and flipping the big sports tourer around on a dime in front of the Harley duck walkers !!! Great advice and instruction, the same message every time just like military training!!!
      Thanks for all the hard work you put into the videos.

      I've taken the RLaP course in Tyngsboro, MA twice with a Concours, practiced with it, my little 650, and a Triumph Thunderbird. When I get to about the same lean angle on the Thunderbird and the Concours I'll scrap pegs on the Triumph. The Kawasaki it feels like it wants to drop over more at about 15-20*, which is a strange but welcome sensation. After getting over that far a couple times I've been trying to get myself that far over each time I go out, that is where you can complete a U-turn in just about two parking spaces.

      My opinion a taller and top-heavy bike is much easier to ride... Handel's much better... And easier... You just need to be going a little faster than normal.... Speed of a cruiser... I have the 2006 concours 1000 cc. It's bigger than the newer 1400. Pure luxury an extremely maneuverable,, it also has a seven and a half gallon fuel tank... Sitting above about a 33 inch seat... You don't have to hang off the side and try to force it down to the ground in the corners.... In the steering is so light and easy and quick... And when you're running those ZR rated radial tires that's half round....

    Only disadvantage to the Concours is that front and rear brakes are linked.
