I wouldn't, to be honest. On the contrary, the Google event looked like it was shot on a smartphone. I had to recheck my settings and WiFi to make sure it was not on my end. But, the footage felt oversharpened and noisy. I thought Google might at the end announce that they shot it on the Pixel 8 Pro or something, but....well, maybe it was just TH-cam compression.
I did not notice at all, I didn't watch till the end, though. I saw MKBHD mention, in his reaction video, that they had shot it on iPhone, so I went back and watched again. Was amazed. I was also surprised in the BTS, because it looks like they filmed the insert pieces (the sketches) also on iPhone. I thought at first they meant only the presenters, locations and drone shots. In the BTS it also makes it seem like they filmed Issa Rae using the iPhone as well.
It’s not for everyone in the business … BUT for future film makers - the Tentacle Sync for essential TC + Nano Focus for pulling & pushing focus + the new Brandon Li Small rig cage ✅✅✅✅, a really quality made variable 3 stop ND- I’ve found NiSi makes an excellent one, the DJI RS 3 Mini with a counterweight for gimbal needs … these + 2 IP/PMX’s 15 with LOG (A Cam + Ba Cam) & a possible Pro Blade SSD 4TB for transfer all this with DV’s Cam App - ‘YOUR SET’ to make seriously powerful shorts & feature length shows…Forget basic content & commercials - THINK BIG ! & go for the moon - GET your hands dirty & GET IN THE GAME of making TV shows & films even if they’re SHORTS. This is what this tool is for. Trust me you won’t be sorry.
Have you heard? on the future update of Motioncam pro you can shoot Prores( probably cineon log) in real time. Dev said you need atleast Gen 1 for 4K 30 fps real time processing.
If Apple are using the Black Magic app, that's good enough for me. I've ditched my BM 6K Pro in favour of an iPhone 15 Pro Max with the BM app. I get the best of all worlds without the poor battery performance and horrid form factor. The iPhone Pro Res Log quality is good enough,
Yes even without the blackmagic app, just with the Iphone camera the LOG is absolutely stunning. Thats what i want personnaly. If i use a smartphone its to shoot with simplicity
Tim Cooke didn’t want to spend a DIME on a useless Filmic Pro subscription + the DV CAM App has support for TILTA Nano Focus 2 & Tentacle Sync time coding for multi cam set up’s- Filmic Pro has none of this.
