People who thought going into this that this can just look like this without lighting, post production etc etc…. You people are adorable 😂 Like why is this even a debate, hahahahahaha.
It's obviously from really high end mics attached to either post processing computer or phone itself (really low chance of them attaching mics to phone cause the audio processing will be to much for phone)
I saw a "shot on iphone" massive photo on the wall of a subway. That iphone was an iphone 6s, and they not only used professional lighting and gimbals, but also had external extremely expensive lenses. It's impressive what they were able to do in this event without needing to be propped up by external multi-thousand dollar lenses, like an average camera.
I'm surprised they didn't react to the fact Apple themselves don't use Final Cut, instead using Premiere pro (look at the computer behind the editor in the BTS video) to edit and resolve to color grade.
Davinci Resolve is industry standard for color grading. Has been for over 15 years. Premiere Pro is also industry standard for video editing WHEN you factor in ALL markets for video creation I.e. not just film and TV (where AVID is king) but for all social, web, independent film, documentary, corporate, advertising etc. FCP is pretty niche (it’s used a lot in the European market apparently) and just doesn’t have the robust features that Adobe’s Creative Cloud integration does - plus the unique editing features of FCP hasn’t (and probably will never be) fully adopted for a traditional video workflow.
Davinci Resolve has been an industry standard for way more, than 15 years. It goes well into the 90s. Back then, it was a hardware server rack, with a price point of around $800.000. As a software solution, I think it goes back to the mid 2000, but was still many thousands of dollars, per license.
11:20 i feel like we wouldnt know its an _iphone_ recorded vid, but probably could tell its not your usual cameras. Like the amount of post processing and perfect conditions to allow it to look seemless is a tall order. Im pretty sure i couldnt tell at all, but im sure the astute ones would notice certain blurs or distortion or particles and noise.
It would be perfect if they film a video on an iPhone, and then also throw in one shot on a Samsung and one on a Pixel. Don't reveal them and then see if anyone notices, how many people notice, and what they think. Then make a video like this as BTS and explain everything you did. But I feel it should be very critical, if you do a shot and it doesn't look good, you still keep it in.
OH MY GOD PLEASE DO THE "SHOT OF IPHONE" MKBHD VERSION. I would love to see this. Would be such a "FLEX" from you guys to show that you can take a phone just like apple and still make a badass video
I think they could totally film a main channel video all on iphone pretty easily. However, to get the same kind of gasp and reaction as the Apple event, that would take a lot more work.
Can confirm the Blackmagic software and hardware integration is out of this world sometimes. I shoot with multiple Blackmagic cameras and it’s incredible what you can do! Don’t get me started on their switchers. Those atem minis or sent from heaven!
At the end there I thought you guys literally gonna go and reveal that this video was shot on an iphone and go and physically grab the camera lol, that would've made me go :O
Fun fact: they would use all of those cranes + lights + equipment for a cinema camera too. just look at any Hollywood movie bts footage (which is the quality and scope Apple goes for).
I think what this really says is that the quality of the iPhone camera and codecs has advanced so much you could use footage from it in a pinch and it wouldn’t take the viewer out of the video by having a perceivable drop in quality alongside other footage from more advanced cameras.
Was fully expecting the end of this video to say 'Shot on iPhone'

"those were apple bats" everyone ignores him, mean while me🤣🤣🤣🤣
The foreshadowing is crazy. Hopefully there’s also a behind-the-scenes of how you shot it on iPhone.
The cheeky 251.1’s in the background 😂
Congrats, Andrew!
The paper airplane above vinh’s head makes him look like a Sim character 😂
This was shot on the phone :) good job guys
Lets do it, can't wait
PLOT TWIST:
It wasn’t actually shot on an iPhone. 😂
I think they could totally film a main channel video all on iphone pretty easily. However, to get the same kind of gasp and reaction as the Apple event, that would take a lot more work.
for me the easiest way to know is it shoot on phone or regular camera is, in youtube at 360p you can see the different.
Can confirm the Blackmagic software and hardware integration is out of this world sometimes. I shoot with multiple Blackmagic cameras and it’s incredible what you can do! Don’t get me started on their switchers. Those atem minis or sent from heaven!
I was waiting for the "Shot on an iPhone" tagline at the end of the video.
CONGRATULATIONS ANDREW!! ❤️🥳🥳🎉✨
Above all else I love the 251's placement... ifykyk
Best comment, "Learn the basics" of making video's, that applies to anything someone might endeavor to do.
At the end there I thought you guys literally gonna go and reveal that this video was shot on an iphone and go and physically grab the camera lol, that would've made me go :O
I waited till the absolute end of this video because I expected a “shot on an iphone” text.
The matte black M251s subtle in the background
Since you guys did your own video, can we get the behind the scenes of the production?
This was such a nerdy video lol I didn't understand a lot of it but I absolutely loved it
Fun fact: they would use all of those cranes + lights + equipment for a cinema camera too. just look at any Hollywood movie bts footage (which is the quality and scope Apple goes for).
So basically save yourself thousands and millions of dollars from buying expensive cameras
I think what this really says is that the quality of the iPhone camera and codecs has advanced so much you could use footage from it in a pinch and it wouldn’t take the viewer out of the video by having a perceivable drop in quality alongside other footage from more advanced cameras.
why wait a day when you could reach out to cover the camera and then pull back with the phone? you already have the perfect ending transition lol
I don't want a main channel video being shot on iPhone but a Studio video would be fun.
Any frame that iPhone will struggle, they use CGI. Sneaky.
The question is 🤔 If we put a Sony flagship in the same rig with sonys pro video recording app, will the results be same or maybe even better?
Is that a new shoe that marques was wearing @ 11:46??
