    The Doctor's best line in part 2 is after we see him as a cenobite the first time he says "To think, I hesitated."

    They explore the sensations of the flesh. It's all about the flesh with them, ripping it apart to see whats inside, what holds it together. Finding new ways to reconfigure the flesh, like an artist creating monsters each one more horrific than the last.

    The scene where Chatterer shoves his fingers in Kirsty's mouth: I read somewhere that the actor playing Chatterer, because he couldn't see, actually skinned the roof of the actresses mouth. So you see a real expression of pain flash across her face for a second and she just kept acting.

      I'm pinching my butt at the thought of someone's fingernails scraping the roof of my mouth...ugh

      Alpha Rookie
      Yeah, after the scene cuts away to Pinhead and cuts back the Chatterer actor had readjusted his fingers, probably so she wouldn't be in pain anymore. I presume they had to stop for a moment after the take where she got skinned >_>

    Not sure if it was touched upon in the comments or not but in Hellraiser 2 originally was her father in hell but they could not get the actor to come back so they turned it into Frank instead but yes it regionally was her father that was in hell that she was rescuing but Andrew the actor could not come back and would not come back so they turned it into Frank instead and created another story around that at the last second

      +Chazbot I'll defend 8 as a fun horror movie with very little Hellraiser, but worth watching. Other than that, you got it. Except 5 is so fucking weird that it should be watched too.

      The first Hellraiser is a classic and so is Hellseeker and Deader. While Bloodline is bad, in my opinion it produced some of the greatest one liners produced in film history. Hellbound might be gross, but its still a good sequel.

    • @lawrencejelsma3937
      @lawrencejelsma3937 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kodanikage ... I liked "Inferno" because too it was offered on DVD! #1(Hellraiser),#2 (Hellbound),#4 (Bloodline) and #6 (Inferno) are in my DVD collection! Walmart electronics doing 80s and 90s horror with the complete "Nightmare on Elm Street series ... but I skipped boring ones there too with only the the first then 4 and 5 before Final Nightmare and Freddy vs Jason buys) really saved my wallet on the rest! I don't really miss any of the others (even #7 Deader as a bootleg download still in my archives)!

    And also in her razor to it's kind of implied but if you watch it carefully the little girl Tiffany is not mute she becomes mute after her mom gets captured because she actually screams mommy when she is being taken away so it's just kind of implied that after that he's keeping her medicated or something to that effect and therefore mute

    • @AlphaRookie

      +Ryan "RyN834" Melanson Her mom being taken away causes psychological trauma that results in her being a mute. That's a real thing, so I'd wager it's just that.

    lol I've seen all the Hellraiser movies. I got into it in high school and watched them all on Netflix back then like 8 years ago. I've also seen all the Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Scream, Child's Play, Leprechaun, Pumpkinhead, Candyman, Wrong Turn, and who knows what else horror movies. They are mostly all bad except for the first few of each or so lol. None of these series are as much an adventure in masochism as a marathon as Star Wars: The Clone Wars though. That's 121 episodes about 22 minutes long on average. It's almost 45 hours of garbage.

    Ya'll missed a few things in this review. In the first movie Kirsty after she confronts Frank in the attic, she sees her dad's dead skinless body. In the second movie, Channard finds out about the mattress through Kirsty and that is why he has it delivered to his home. Channard is the one, who as the head of the psych facility, after hearing kirsty's story decides she needs to be admitted so he can hear the full story. As far as Kirsty's dad, there's a slight inference in the movie when Kirsty tells Pinhead she came for her father. The Cenobites start laughing and Pinhead says that he is in his own hell. I think it's an indirect reference to the book lore of Hellraiser in that there are different hells, with the labrynth being only one.

      Kuro Wanwan Yeah, I think originally Kirsty wasn't the daughter. But when they came to adapt it to a film, it worked better to change her to the daughter, so that the line would sound incestuous and wrong.

    I think Julia is the baddie in 1. 'Looks like Natalie Portman"? What movie were you watching? Kirstie kinda looks like a young, non fat Kirstie Alley. Maybe that's why you pronounce her name that way

  • @DeathPrevails77713
    @DeathPrevails77713 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    after 4, it seems they went with psychological horror , " you create your own hell in your mind , thoughts " than the typical body horror, " gore ".

    • @AlphaRookie
      @AlphaRookie  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well that's cheaper for sure. I'm sure budget plays a part. If you watch our video on the comics, you can see those stories went that way with it sometimes too. I still maintain the worst thing to happen to the series was to pin (pun intended) the whole series on pinhead. The cool thing about the original series and film was the Lovecraftian aspect. One of the most imagination-capturing moments is when the cenobites first define themselves as "explorers." And the monsters of course (hallway monster, flying monster at the end). And the homeless, bug guy who is never explained. Mystery, unfathomable darkness, deals with the other side, and so on should have been the driving force.

Ohh, I see, ,, You don't want to think about death, ,, ,,, or dying.. Oh come now, you must be curious, how it feels to exist outside of your shell, no pulse, ,, heartbeat, no breathing, sight or sound?

    • @dklupsch9795
      @dklupsch9795 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      not buying it - born in 1984 - I used to go to Jumbo Video where they had a horror section and I used to get my visuals from the back of the box.. My dad watched them back in the day and Hellraiser has always been cool to me. I think on the back of Hellraiser 2 : Hellbound you see the dude pull his skin off his face and it was weird to me. When the scene came out back in the day my dad just said to hide behind the couch - I did. But I peeked up.. I have a long history of interest in this series and I think how you guys are going about this is taking away from the actual flick.

    • @AlphaRookie
      @AlphaRookie  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +D Klupsch We didn't watch these as a yearning for classic horror, we did it as an exercise in ridiculousness. 9 movies of cheap direct to video horror. And really it was only to understand the universe of Pinhead so we'd be able to understand the Hellraiser comics more. At the time it was all sort of a big joke, so going through that much movie time was too much. But as time went on and we talked about them more, we've come to actually like it a lot more. That doesn't mean there's still not definitely boring parts worth speeding up though. Also, lot of the movies aren't even Hellraiser movies, they were scripts for other movies that were changed to make them into Hellraiser. So it's not like the filmmakers gave much consideration or care either. Some are good, some are bad, and some were trash.
