      Actually, Article Four of the Hague Convention states that the Hospital Ships have the following protections:
      Ship must be clearly marked and lighted as a hospital ship
      The ship should give medical assistance to wounded personnel of all nationalities
      The ship must not be used for any military purpose
      The ship must not interfere with or hamper enemy combatant vessels
      Belligerents, as designated by the Hague Convention, can search any hospital ship to investigate violations of the above restrictions
      Belligerents will establish the location of a hospital ship
      That being said, its entirely legal to fire upon a hospital ship if the following occurs:
      Diversion or capture is not feasible
      No other method to exercise control is available
      The violations are grave enough to allow the ship to be classified as a military objective
      The damage and casualties will not be disproportionate to the military advantage
      Thus if they are transporting troops, then the protections given to the vessels for Hospital Ships are rendered null and void.

      The two Fuso class are: Fuso and Yamashiro. I think you may be referring to the Ise class which are: Ise and Hyuga. They have the 2nd kind of turret placement you're speaking of. Fuso and Yamashiro were the earlier class, with Ise and Hyuga coming shortly after them....then Nagato and Mutsu were the final class of the older dreadnoughts built for Japan. OMG, they put HOSHO as a front-line ship?! WTF is this game thinking?! She was obsolete by the time WWII began and after Midway was used solely as a training carrier. She couldn't even operate the newer types of aircraft due to being too small (this was corrected during a late-war refit). She actually carried BIPLANES at Midway.
    After the mauling of that task force, I can imagine the leader of that unit (if he's still alive) simply putting his head in his hands and sobbing. Excellent work...you managed to finish off FOUR ship classes (Fuso-class BB, Hosho-class CVL, Takao-class CA, & Furutaka-class CA) in one day.

    Why the Japanese haven’t cut their losses yet is beyond me. You have destroyed anywhere from 2/3rds to 3/4ths of japans entire battleship force that they started the war with, and have eliminated about a third of Japan’s total fleet strength, all on a shoestring budget. at this point you have near single handedly won the entire war in the pacific.

    Loved the video @Wolfpack345! Can't wait for the next video man! Wasn't expecting to see your Aircraft Spawn right on top of the Japanese Convoy, only for your A-20G's and B-25J's to get Slaughtered in a Follow-up attack LMAO!
    As for the Ships that you sunk in the Convoy, The Aircraft Carrier looked like it was a Zuihō-class Light Aircraft Carrier, the Battleship was Definitely a Fusō-class, the First Heavy Cruiser was a Takao-class (The Atago, as she was apparently the only one left) and the Other Heavy Cruiser looked like it was a Furutaka-class and the Cargo Ship might have been a Kinai Maru-class Cargo Ship.
    The Two Hospital Ships looked like they were the Oceanliners of the Hikawa Maru-class, Hikawa Maru Herself being the Sole Survivor of the 3 Sister Ships and has Been a Museum Ship since 1961 at Yamashita Park, Naka-ku, Yokohama. It did look as though they were Armed with Anti-Aircraft Guns like most all of Imperial Japan's Transports and they may have been trying to Land Troops at Malaita but were Dissuaded from doing so with the Loss of the Battleship and Heavy Cruisers. Even Fewer of Imperial Japan's Transports were Used to Ferry Allied Troops by cramming them into the Ships Cargo Holds like Cattle, Similar to how the N@zi's Crammed the Jews into actual Cattle Cars in the Second World War as well, the most Likely destination was China for the Burma Railroad. These Ships would've been known as "Hell Ships" and the most Well known Of these was the Shin'yo Maru, a Paddle Steamer from Britain Purchased by Japan prior to the Second World War. In September 1944 she was Torpedoed by the Gato-class Submarine USS Paddle (SS-263) while carrying 750 Allied POW's from the Philippines to Manila. The Crew and Nearby Gunboats killed all but 83 of the Prisoners, 1 Died on the Shoreline and another Elected to stay simply because there wasn't any room left in the USS Narwhal (SS-167) (Narwhal-class Submarine) which came by to pick them up and so he stayed and joined a Nearby Philippine Guerilla Group. There's a Memorial to those who Died in what's known as the Shin'yo Maru Incident in San Antonio, Texas which was Dedicated on the 54th Anniversary. For Clarification, The Japanese never Marked Shin'yo Maru up to be a Hospital Ship or anything like that and so the Paddle sank her without being any the wiser.
    Let me know what you think about this and I'll catch you in your next video man!

    They should make it so bombers can also do a bombardment to try and lower an airfield or port rating, just have a lower chance the fewer planes are in the flight, and have only one chance each - assuming they are armed with the correct bombs. So like a 50/50 on which of the two gets dropped with half the normal ship bombardment chance of a drop, and only one or the other (the 50/50) would drop as opposed to the naval bombardment which can drop both at once. I think it would be an interesting (and realistic) addition and mechanic to the game, as it could give carriers a chance to do the job as well as that is how they were used during invasions, while putting the player in a tougher spot as well should the AI attempt to do the same, encouraging the build up of airfields and increase the need for CAP and fighter intercepts.

    During that air strike against the Japanese CV & BB you had one Avenger still circling in the staging area with its torpedo. You never selected it to fight anything and therefore missed a chance to sink the CV. I've noticed in many of the games you play you tend to get really focused on a single task and miss the bigger picture. Try to step back from time to time to regain your overall focus. I know when I play I'm excited to see the damage and carnage but sometimes its best to just slow down so you don't forget things.

    Taking personal control of the torpedo planes setting them to max speed in a line formation then manually dropping the torps so close that the enemy ships have no way of avoiding them is incredibly over powered. Also instantly doing a hard turn away from the enemy ships, instead of having the torpedo bombers fly over the enemy formation sometimes lead to having no lost planes and for the most part maybe one or two. Games got way to many ways to exploit systems. Like dropping the torps while the avengers are going full speed should wreck the torpedo when they hit the water.

    Is it bad that I wanted a hospital ship to be hit by either a stray torpedo or a crashing plane just to see Wolfpack’s reaction?

    This new Thrustmaster Boeing yoke? I think it would be pretty cool for someone to play IL-2 with it. Ju-88, P-38, A-20, etc. Let me know what you think, love your stuff!

    Man, I'd wish they would do something about the way you spawn in, and make it so you don't spawn in right onto the enemy. But more in each part or side of the combat area. Don't know if you can avoid this by entering combat by launching it when the units on the strategic map are further from eachother (?)

    Not sure how I feel about the mod having hospital ships as troop transports, since it kinda encourages the player to sink them

    I took out 3 Japanese carriers, a yamato class battleship, and 3 subs at the cost of an escort carrier, a battleship, and 3 Cruisers. A phyric victory to say the least. At least I can feel safe about air cover now

    I think they need to nerf dive bomber accuracy or bomb damage. In the Battle of Midway, Japanese carriers dodged a lot of bombs actually

      No because War on the Sea isn't based of the battle of Midway it based after it so yeah

    • @adamtruong1759

      Agreed. The bomb damage seems more or less accurate, it's the accuracy that needs to be toned down.

    When the Japanese walked out of the Geneva Convention, hospital ships became “eligible” to carry troops. At lest they didn’t have the gall to put AA guns on them…

    • @sse_weston4138
      @sse_weston4138 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      interestingly, in a diverging path, there were the Diplomatic Exchange Ships that operated under a similar rule as hospital ships. Still some broke rules and carried contraband, but despite this Allied naval command in the Pacific chose not to target them. Why the submarine commander of the boat that sank Awa Maru had his command revoked.

  • @jeffreyestahl
    @jeffreyestahl 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    It would be interesting if HS carried no troops, and if you even accidentally sank one, it cost you command points. It would cost you no points if they were actually carrying troops though.

      For modders perhaps, but if you examine the savegame file, you'll see that any ship has any 'cargo' recorded, so you would be able to know if there were troops on board.
