Almost six months since my C6Z stage 3. Have two problems, no traction in 1st and 2nd haha, my Michelin pilot sport as3 not the best for high hp applications either. My granddaughter just said “I forgot how fast your car is grandpa”. Love the results I got from the RPM crew. I always display my extra large laminated dyno and build sheet when showing. Get lots of compliments on the way the car looks and especially the way it sounds. Thanks again RPM!!
I watch every video you guys make. I just bought an 08 Z with only 4000 miles and will be doing your stage 3 first thing next year. I would love to see you guys add at least a 10second clip of each car when it's finished just idling. I personally love what these cars sound cammed, the chopping is really the only reason I'm doing your stage 3 haha. So just throwing that idea out there. Maybe get you more business as well who knows Thanks guys. Look forward to meeting you all soon. I'm in NJ btw so I'll be driving up to drop off and to pick up.
What is the rod-mod? In OE configuration the intake manifold has an extremely sharp transition from the plenum to the top of the runners. Air hates sharp edges, and loves curves, so the rods give the air a nice radius to follow into the intake manifold. The porting (at least what we do at GPI) removes the stands from the middle of the manifold to increase plenum volume, cleans up any casting flash from the runners, and cleans up the throat by flush cutting the vacuum ports. Our ported rod-mod has been tested by many and proven to consistently gain somewhere around 10whp on a cammed 6.2, and make significant gains through the mid-range.
My '08 Base Vette got a BTR Stage 2 cam/kit swap 4 years ago. It Dyno'd 451hp at the wheels. BTR claimed a 67hp gain, and I believe that's about what mine got with no other mods. Mine has NPP, for a little help.
400hp VW owner here....hoping to graduate to a "big boy car" eventually Ideally a C6 either LS3 or 7. Obviously the Z06 is king C6 but I am ok with the LS3 cars after hearing cams in them....I told my wife I want to set car alarms off and "disturb the peace" with a corvette one day 🙏 Mods don't seem all that more expensive than for my VW. Got about $5k in the VW so far and not done yet. Should he a good warm-up for a real sports car.
The LS3 intake with the rod mod performed AND fully ported typically picks up 6-8 to the wheels on a stock engine and 12-15+ on cammed setup. Supposedly worth it for the gains under the curve.
@@nicklashway6636 I've watched that video as well; however, that's a single test. Additionally, Richard even verified in the comments that the manifold they used only had the rod mod performed with no additional porting. Plenty of other third party sources and shops have shown differently on them for years now, which is where the general consensus on those numbers gradually came from.
My 08 ls3 made 414whp and 413 tq with headers, cai, and gpi ported rod mod ls3 intake. Translation 11.80s @ 121 at the strip. Pretty quick for stock heads, cam, converter car.
I'm torn between buying a low mileage C6 Grand Sport or a new car for the warranty, updated interior etc.. I love C6's but the older I get, the less I care about having a quick car, the more I care about a nice interior and just having enough power to have fun on the street without going to jail for taking 2nd or 3rd gear up to redline, lol.. if I do end up with a C6, I'll definitely have it shipped to you guys for the tune and mods etc.. I'm right down the road in Maryland. Were you the shop that used to be in Overlea/Rosedale, MD right off the highway or am I confusing you with a different RPM?
Nitto has good tires, so does nankang (if I spelled it right) I run the toyo r888r's and they are beasts. They are noisy, but I have zero issues with traction really in my c6z and I'm 527whp. They just need a little heat too.
@user-iq2bs9im6t you bet! I had some heat in them once and was at 25mph in first gear and put it to the floor and it hooked with no issues. The r888rs operating temp it says is between 160-220F. But as long as they're warm to the touch you'll have no issues unless your crazy high hp.
If I call and ask to have work done on my 02' SS, am I gonna be turned away? I was told the last time I called RPM they don't do work on LS motors anymore...but this video contradicts that, or was the person I talked to wrong?
@@Dexvl typical stuff that no one does because they think a cam is gonna be their savior....the little things add up. We've actually made as much as 470whp 470wtq with one in a 5gen that had eps. Still on the oe npp catback.

We will be sure to check your channel for some pulls
Get toyo r888rs (they are noisy) but if there is any kind of heat in them, traction won't be an issue. I also air mine down a little.
get some slicks
Garrett, what’s the harm in letting us hear the cam idle once in a while. Come on dude, everyone likes cam chop lol.
I know they never show the chop anymore….🤬🤬🤬
They don't know what we like. And he doesn't know shit about cars...😅

Jinx, I just made the same request lol
No one commenting on the weight loss gains of Fran. Damn, amazing results. Motivating to get my act together and do weight reduction!! Lol.

That’s a beautiful C6, love those wheels. 480whp in that thing sounds like a blast, great video.

Richard holdner and crew just did a comparison on a big cam 427 and a rod mod intake didn't do squat anywhere on the curve. It's a gimmick

@@SmallBoreGarage yep and plenty of people that haven't gotten much from it at all.
Wish you would have left the original intake on and did a Dyno pull then did the swap with Dyno pull after just to see if the intake is any good
Richard Holdener just did an LS3 engine dyno comparison video. One of them was a ported rod mod.
That head unit thing is true 😂 when I got an aftermarket one my chime got louder and I thought I was crazy
My cai and cam c6z made 527whp, for comparison. However I don't know what the stock dyno was, or if the previous owner even did one.
No exhaust or head work?
@dennisrobinson8008 no, no exhaust, headers or heads etc.

Happy dyno
What cam did you run?
So the dyno was before tune with a cam the customer put in? You did the intake and tuned it after that run?
What cam is in it?
Do ls motors like being ran at 13+:1 afr? I thought 12.5 was the baseline number to go for
Love to know the specs on this LS3 cam?
Yo Fran lost mad weight oh shit bro 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿 I didn't even recognize him 🔥💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
During the C6 years, what was the final drive or gear ratio or ratios from the factory?
Manuals were all 3.42. Autos varied
Gotta love when it says cam only then says ported heads.

No we have always been in Delaware
Just Curious if you will tune older F-Body's with the old LT1/LT4s with the Torqhead EFI that I believe is based off of the LS ECU's
No we won’t
what wheels are those
Get a Audiotec Fisher Helix DSP and that will make the sound system sound amazing and quiet the ding.
I hear from time to time Fran mention the car dont have a tire to get good traction.... what are the recommendations to resolve that? Brands? etc?

We do not work on LS1 engines. Clearly we still work on LS engines. Just nothing older than 2006
Well, that unfortunate. Appreciate the reply.
cam only...but also exhaust and intake?
Can I put a cam in my stock GS and it be fine or does it need to have other mods on it already like resurfacing the heads or milling and stuff ?
Will be fine
Excellent numbers.
Bro they RTVed the full exhaust!? That is so wierd
Wow on stock heads, this is a serious power!!
What cam package is that
Ours.
What cam, or what specs?
Our ls3 cam
Are these numbers at wheel
Yes
Love the numbers the 2021 ss put down. Made me really consider that over the challenger 392.
Well damn, it looks like there is a V2 wagon hanging out in the shop.
That be a fun car right there.
Shoulda added heads!
“Cam only” with ported mani, cold air and headers lol 🤔
Cam only refers to what's done to the engine... Means nothing done to the BE or Heads ... This car is cam with supporting mods
That’s one way to fix an exhaust leak 🤣
You took 425 as I was typing it
This car made more wheel hp baseline than my cammed ls3 😢
Why
Why don't y'all ever do lifters?
You must be new here buddy.
Nice 👍
Garrett you need to watch prior vids and learn. It would help so you dont keep getting the crap from the guys.
C6 ls3 will make in the 450s with just bolt ons...with equal torque.
Torque is the actual power of a engine.
Then why is it called horse POWER ??
