I think it is just the opposite. I think he doesn't respond because he is really taking in what is being said, and maybe processsing it. Musicians are often very deep , and so I think he lets it be what it is, and doesn't have to fill that space just to fill it.

Bruce is so integrated with his craft-it just reveals itself in his expressiveness, his wholesomeness as a genuine human being who is able to do what he loves and love what he does. The man is a poet.

A story of a lot of kids and teens who are having fights with their mentally ill parent. These kids and teens don't understand it like Bruce didn't understand his dad. Bad communication, because dad was ill, dad just couldn't communicate when he was depressed and nobody explained that to little Bruce. That will make a kid or teen very insecure or angry or a kid blames himself etc. Years and years later, Bruce understood his dad because he was suffering depressions too. That's very sad. His dad DID love him, DID love his music, DID love the songs Bruce wrote for him the most, but dad never had told him. A child needs to hear that it is doing a good job from its parents. Bruce had to ask him that himself, just a short time before his dad past away. This very open Bruce story, can help kids and teens with a mentally ill parent and the ill parents their selves. Parents just need to tell their kids what's going on, why dad (mom) does what he (she) is doing sometimes and that he (she) will always love you, only now, he (she) just can't be the dad (mom) he (she) wants to be, because he's (she's) suffering a depression or whatever and tell the kids what that means. I know mentally illness in my surroundings (aunt) Then ppl are very quiet, or very angry or very unpredictable, are crying a lot or are suicidal and that's very scary for a kid. (Mentally ill ppl on't even know themselves when they are very depressed or having a whatever mental illness (PTSD/Borderline/Narcissistic and even a Burn Out they have) Explain that behavior/illness to kids. Litle Bruce was a scary neurotic kid, had terror dreams, was scared for whatever what, how sad is that for a kid. He found his drug, music, but that's not the drug for all the other kids who have to live and deal with a mentally ill parent. I love how open Bruce is about all this in his book and in interviews. Let him be the example for every mentally ill parent and his spouse. EXPLAIN everything what's going on to the kids, they WILL understand and not blame themselves or think that it's their fault, because they were bad or whatever. Thanks Bruce. I bet your wife Patti and your kids did know WHEN you were depressed, WHY you behaved different then as normal etc. You had your share with your dad as a kid/teen and even as a man and father.

Patricia Moreno it was 3 years ago a day before his 67th birthday on September 23, 2016. He was promoting his autobiography which I enjoyed. If you’re a reader I’d also recommend reading Clarence’s book, “Big Man and Tall Tales” co-written with Don Reo and Keith Richards book “Life”. Keith’s book is funny, lucid, humble, informative,clear-eyed and heartfelt.
I totally understand what He’s talking about in regards to his father.

Afaf Benhara Almost every interview tends to be thought provoking. He's just an intrinsic individual who will give you a genuine answer rather than a short and sweet one. Aside from his music (which I love), that has always been my favorite thing about Bruce. He knows his history, he knows he's made mistakes (emotional ones) and he'll share those stories whenever asked about it.
Why does he play them? Because the fans love Bruce and the Estreet band. Love them. And we appreciate you Bruce. You could sell out multiple shows at the same location for nights.

i thought he'd be super-smooth and polished. but actually i saw someone who's somewhat vulnerable and also isn't all adult, kinda has a mischievous, messed-up adolescent in him.

This story, Bruce and his mentality ill dad and other family members, his childhood, being a neurotic kid, terrodreams etc is THE story of many kids and teens these hurry hurry/work work/busy busy /pressure pressure/burn out/depression/money problems/devorce devorce etc days. A story of a lot of kids and teens who are having fights with their mentally ill parent. These kids and teens don't understand it like Bruce didn't understand his dad. Bad communication, because dad was ill, dad just couldn't communicate when he was depressed and nobody explained that to little Bruce. That will make a kid or teen very insecure or angry or a kid blames himself etc.
Years and years later, Bruce understood his dad because he was suffering depressions too. That's very sad. His dad DID love him, DID love his music, DID love the songs Bruce wrote for him the most, but dad never had told him. A child needs to hear that it is doing a good job from its parents. Bruce had to ask him that himself, just a short time before his dad past away.
This very open Bruce story, can help kids and teens with a mentally ill parent and the ill parents their selves.
Parents just need to tell their kids what's going on, why dad (mom) does what he (she) is doing sometimes and that he (she) will always love you, only now, he (she) just can't be the dad (mom) he (she) wants to be, because he's (she's) suffering a depression or whatever and tell the kids what that means.
I know mentally illness in my surroundings (aunt) Then ppl are very quiet, or very angry or very unpredictable, are crying a lot or are suicidal and that's very scary for a kid. (Mentally ill ppl on't even know themselves when they are very depressed or having a whatever mental illness (PTSD/Borderline/Narcissistic and even a Burn Out they have) Explain that behavior/illness to kids.
Litle Bruce was a scary neurotic kid, had terror dreams, was scared for whatever what, how sad is that for a kid. He found his drug, music, but that's not the drug for all the other kids who have to live and deal with a mentally ill parent.
I love how open Bruce is about all this in his book and in interviews.
Let him be the example for every mentally ill parent and his spouse. EXPLAIN everything what's going on to the kids, they WILL understand and not blame themselves or think that it's their fault, because they were bad or whatever.
Thanks Bruce. I bet your wife Patti and your kids did know WHEN you were depressed, WHY you behaved different then as normal etc. You had your share with your dad as a kid/teen and even as a man and father.
