Altering can be very expensive. Most places near me were $700-$1000! Which is crazy. That's just the procedure no overnight, meds, or anything. I found a REALLY good vet that I was comfortable with and the procedure only cost $80. I didn't do overnight, and they didn't give me extra meds. But my vet did really good and thankfully zero complications.
Thank you for sharing these videos and continue the good work! I always look forward to my Sunday Cinnabun video.

I paid $25 to adopt my baby at a shelter, but she wasn't spayed. It cost me around $600 to get her fixed, but I am not going to deal with that again. You forgot to mention what you feel WHILE your bun is at the vet, getting fixed, and then what you feel the first 2 days post op -since some bunnies don't make it past the surgery-. I was very anxious and worried those entire 3 days, but everything went well. Now my bunny bullies our dog and has claimed the whole house as hers

I thought most shelters spayed or neutered bunnies before they were adopted. It’s too bad they didn’t provide that in your case 😢

Yeah I wish my bunny would take over the house and not my dog lol and then he could free roam around the whole house but he does have the upstairs just not the rec room area so hes still has way more than enough space😅 I rescued mine from a hoarding situation not a shelter and he was just a baby so I waited till he was 8 months old got him fixed because he kept humping a basketball and at first we were told he was a girl when I went to get him fixed they said no he’s a boy (I did find it weird that a female was humping a basketball so I didn’t think it was actually humping I thought she was just playing so I made it a game) lol so it was cheaper by $100 plus they couldn’t get the needle in so he didn’t get something done I don’t remember now but yeah it’s definitely scary because they’re so small and anything can happen with that kind of surgery so Luna became Luca and three years later he’s driving unfortunately I have to find him a new home and it’s Been impossible because people keep breading Or spaying and neutering So the already existing buns. You can’t find homes for even though he’s fixed and everything😢Because everybody wants a baby the internets full of baby bunnies so everyone overlooks the others also the shelter in my area is full they’ve resorted to euthanizing even three year old rabbits to take and the babies I think if an owner is irresponsible enough to have babies then they shouldn’t be taking them in I tried to help my bunny to have a better life which I did but it was to find him a good home I didn’t realize how hard it was going to be so again three years later he still with us my dog and bunny have grown up together and my bunny loves my dog but my dog is still too rough so I would never let them play you’re lucky Your bunny runs the show and not your dog but I definitely couldn’t have just left that bunny I ended up getting out of the hoarding situation and paying to fix him I have known it was gonna be so hard to rehome him he deserves the best in the world unfortunately people are awful a lot of the times people want bunnies but they don’t wanna pay for them or pay to get them fixed so this is great she did the video on how much they cost but I don’t feel like the right people are going to hear this or see this video or listen for that matter because they’re so darn cute but they are a lot of work as is any animal you take animals out of nature And domesticate him that’s what happens and so many people think it’s just a bunny so doesn’t require much when we know that is not the case😢I apologize for how long my comment it ended up being Unfortunately I have an old phone so I can’t even see half of what I wrote to edit itHopefully I didn’t bore you to death😅

I live in the suburbs and purchase hay in a compressed bale for about $25 and it can last 12 months! I also buy high quality pellets for a lot less! Comes to about $3 a month! Farm stores sell high quality for a fraction of the cost! Pet store hay, pellets and bedding are incredibly expensive! Happiest of Sundays Cinnabun!

$40 a month on hay? You can spend $80 for a 40lb bale of hay shipped to you. I have 2 bunnies. That lasts 5-6 months.
Also, bedding for the litter box. A 40lb bag of compressed pine shaving pellets is $7-10 from a farm supply store.
Get a bumbox or another litter box with 2 levels. You can put a couple scoops in the bottom. Don't even have to change it every day since the pellets are so absorbent.

My boy was free on Facebook marketplace and I paid $275 to neuter him. I probably spend between $100-125 a month for food and toys. I use shredded paper for his liter box and he has his own bedroom. It’s important to have chewies for your buns. This really helps keep them from destroying wires and cords.

I love this video! I think this is great for new bun moms/dads who have yet to know the deep dive on how much a rabbit can be. Before I started really getting into the rabbit community I didn’t know that adoption was the best way to go when it comes to rabbits and I got my rabbit through a breeder as well and I was charged $200 off the rip not including all the food and supplies needed and vet costs. These little guys are just as important/expensive as cats and dogs please be aware for everyone who’s considering getting a bunny. 🐰💕

Great video. Very informative. I would just add a couple of things.. 1. Supplies for stasis: infant gas drops and emergency food/electrolytes replacement. I like the Sherwood rescue kit, personally. It has apetite restore and emergency food. 2. An emergency fund for unexpected vet bills, including emergency visits/hospitalizations for stasis. It’s so important to be vigilant of their health since they’re so delicate and vet care cannot be delayed, especially if they stop eating. I know you’ve mentioned it in other videos, but I think it’s helpful to mention it here as well.

I would also like to add that sometimes you can get surprised vet bills that can cost thousands of dollars if your little one gets sick. This past week my almost 2 year old bunny had to go to the vet because he wasn't eating only to find out that it wasn't stasis but something is wrong with his liver. We have currently spent over a little of $1000 getting him checked and getting medicine. This amount is still counting because we haven't figured out what exactly is wrong with his liver so he has to get follow up exam and tests. We are also looking at a potential $4000 surgery. This is when we found out about Care Credit which is a credit card you can use for veterinary expenses and interest can be deferred for 6-12 months. I'm suggesting this as an alternative to pet insurance for those who don't want to use it and also because with insurance you still have to pay all these bills upfront before you do get reimbursed by insurance and Care Credit can cover things that insurance might not such as neuters and spays.
But other than medical bills, bunnies can be relatively reasonable to afford especially if you buy in bulk

Yep, I’ve been in that same boat almost $1800 after multiple tests for a tumor to be removed luckily it was a just a lipoma and a $2,000 ICU stay of 36 hours back in October, and in January he hurt his back foot jumping wrong and pulled a ligament $350 for X-rays and meds all on the same rabbit. 🐇 We also have 5 more. 😂 At this point they all are over 9 years of age so I will only do what I can if they’re to able recover and won’t be going overboard for further ICU stays, surgeries etc

So important to talk about the real cost of having rabbits! But you probably should've mentioned unexpected vet bills too. That's the absolute biggest rabbit related expense for me. Also, I have had free roam rabbits for almost 5 years ans currently have three. But I have only lost one single cable. 😂

I have my 2nd bun Jin he turns 3 this year and he adores those oxbow pellets and digestive multivitamin treats, which I got from your vids I buy them online through a vet store and I alternate but to get them all up including shipping. I get 4 bags and the pellets to get me through 2 months with treats to share with mates bun for just over $95 this is in NZ so while this stuff is expensive, I get hay by bales cause allergic to timothy so orchard or meadow so it's like 5 or 10 per bale depending on the season. His hidey house paid bro 80 for untreated timber and he made a house he does joinery for a living but Jin loves his house. So thanks to you and other bunnytubers I was able to figure out things I could do for my boy.

Hi, i know this isnt in all parts of the country, but where I live we are advised to get RHDV2 vaccines for all domestic rabbits, even indoor only pets. My vet charged $50 for the beginning series of 2 shots, and from now on it will be $25 yearly. That's on top of yearly exams. I'm happy to pay this for such a devastating disease.

Great video, Morgan. The cost of a giving a bunny proper care is no joke. Like Cinnabun, I have a bunny that can be prone to stasis. We’ve made some lifestyle changes, but there was an instance where the stasis was so bad that we needed to visit the ER vet. We were there for only six hours and it was $1000 for outpatient care.

Hi Morgan! thanks for your video, I follow your channel from Italy and I wanted to share the cost I have for 2 bunnies in Italy: first of all, I paid 90€ for both, they're lop dwarf bunnies, but here there are some super fancy breeders in Italy that sell their bunnies up to 800€. For spaying I paid 240€ for the male and 280€ for the female. The cost for the vet visits are really low, I paid 15€ for 1 faeces analyses, 30€ for a radiography, 15€ for 1 vaccination and the usual teeth, ears checks have always been free of charge in most of my experiences, even when I used to go to another vet for my cat. My monthly cost for both my bunnies, including litter bedding, fresh vegetables, pellets and hay is 75€, I do not buy Oxbow, but Versele-Laga products, which are very good quality, I don't know if you can find in USA as well. For the bunnies room I spent something around 250/300€, including bunny proofing the entire house (120mq) except for 1 room, litter boxes, storage forniture, carpets, hiding spaces, cushions, blankets and toys etc.
I'm from Salerno, South Italy, next to the Amalfi coast basically, the costs change based on where you live I guess, especially for the vet. :)
Bye from my bunnies Menù and Tatù

We have 6 rabbits. 🐇 In the last 2 years I’ve spent close to $12,000 with vet bills routine and emergency care & surgeries alone. That cost is not even including hay, veggies, & toys. I go through at least 50lb box of hay $100, 8 bags of litter $50 (wood stove pellets), & veggies probably $100 per month. They are all seniors. Katrina 12, Gwen 11, Grace 11, Halligan 10, Babs 9 and Niko 6. They all were adopted from either the Humane Society or a rescue for $35-$75 and came fixed and microchipped at the time of adoption. Anyone who goes around stating rabbits are cheap or an easy starter pet needs their head checked. 😂 I will not be getting anymore as they leave this world. My rabbits are as old as they because they are well taken care of by me.😊

I spend around 10$a week on veggies and I get timothy hay from a local farmer for5-10$ a month. I bay 11.33kg bag of food pellets from oxbow cost 60$ last for 1-2years so like 2-5& per month and spend about 10-30$ on toys poridge and treats. I bay a big 17kilo bag of wooden pellets that I use in litter box cost6-9$, peepads 6$. I have basic incurance 12$ for my 2 mini Holland loops. so per month it will be 80-100$dollar. /stay hoppy.

I have many pet rabbits and spend many hundreds each month on them. From New rugs, toys, doggy pads, litter pellets as well as fresh veggies, bananas and apples for treats. It also costs me a lot to heat and air condition them in a nice bunny house that is like a tiny home next to my home. I am only able to have 4 of them free roaming in my home. My daughter got me taking care of some that were pregnant 4 yrs ago and finally after spending thousands I now only have adult rabbits, no kits! She was able to find homes for most of the babies yrs ago but I got very attached to some so that's why I have 11 now. Two of them are probably much older than most because we don't know their ages. They were the first moms so... my daughter is not rescuing any more thank goodness! I love my bunnies and after my first stroke I was so worried that I wouldn't be able to care for them but I was not disabled by it so can spend up to four or more hrs each day caring for them still. I grow many of their veggies and herbs during the summer so that saves me some at that time. I change their water each day, clean up after them, and hold, groom and wash their rugs and blankets. Anyone who thinks they are an easy, inexpensive pet is delusional 😅
I just hope I can live as long as them. Most are 4 soooo. Happy bunny mom😊

I mean absolutely no disrespect but want to share an alternative perspective. I disagree about the cords. I also don’t really think it’s funny the way it was dismissed as inevitable. I have 5 free roam rabbits and have lost maybe 1 cord in 4 years. Rabbits chewing cords can be dangerous! Pick up your cords. Hold yourself accountable to find places to charge devices that they can’t reach. Don’t budget it in…solve the problem.
