On the threaded version, Remove the bottom link and spring from the rod, remove bottom spring retainer cap. Then put bottom link back on the rod, loosen or remove cap, compress until bottom link touches threaded retainer, turn left while applying pressure to the threaded retainer and your good to go! Also, use a brillo pad to smooth the inside of shock body for smoother stroke. P.S I'm tired from Zero sleep
Amazon rcboyz clone shocks are cheap all 4 for $19.99 and the snap rings are inside the shocks so once you buy 2 sets each of the traxxas tra2362 & tra2669 which cost me $13.60 shipped and you also have the channel lock 926 on deck it makes the break down and rebuild process so much easier out the package brand new the shocks are horrible but once you add those traxxas parts and good oil it's a night and day difference...Thanks a lot for your in depth videos and for 34$ bucks it was a small gamble that paid off for sure...again thanks and enjoy your sunday..✌
Yep. That video took place back in February. th-cam.com/video/lSeMuiuixF8/w-d-xo.html And the RCBOYZ version was a follow-up to the video on the "original" Fimonda Drav-clones. th-cam.com/video/dos0CYVd6EY/w-d-xo.html The oily version are not directly comparable, as they're... different enough. The inclusion of offset caps and functional pistons puts this version out on it's own.
Got the rc boys version from Amazon and replaced internals with traxxas parts and they work great no leaks after 6+ months of crawling. More affordable than dravtex and preform almost as good. Well worth the time and money you put into them.
I took a long time thinking about how to get the threaded retainer out also… then I just tried pressing my fingers against it (around the rod shaft) and turning by hand… comes right out. Tighten same way. They’re a loose thread. Use very clean fingers.
I have rebuilt three sets of the regular ones, with a snap ring, and all have worked really well. Have used seals, pistons and bladder. I have also gotten 2,5 sets of the screw in ones. The first time, I got four shocks from the same seller on Aliexpress, and two were "normal" ones, two were the screw in kinds. So it's not just that you don't know what you're getting when ordering. You don't even know is a full set will all be the same. The good thing is that I have gotten partial refunds (50%), and kept the shocks, on the shocks I have gotten that had the screw in seal retainer. Appreciate the video, as I am planning to try and rebuild some of the screw in ones I have as well. If I can get them to work as well, or about as well, as the snap ring ones, I will have gotten several sets really cheap. ;)
I got mine out pretty easily using the end of a small round bastard (hehe), didn’t imprint the insert at all. I also tried with a body reamer and that worked fine too.
😢I’m late, but I have a good excuse. We were digging a 85ft ditch at my grandmas house to replace 30yearold galvanized pipes with 1in pex. Half of it was easy digging,we had already dug a ditch to run pex and 50amp wire.the other half though was really hard, the ditch crossed over a dirt driveway and it was really compacted, I just used a pick all day and my sister and dad where shoveling. It was also hot, 104F and 45% humidity.
They sure are a good match for the wheels. The retainers have to be installed at the factory somehow. Is there anything that would allow them to be removed/reinstalled from the shock body side? 'Tis a puzzlement.
They take months to ship. I have a set of their big bores and they're good but not great. They do leak, I wish I would have just got Traxxas big bores..
With these new Chavs we are getting the oil slick look and the offset caps, I dont see any other upgrades from the old Chavs Its good to be able to use the ones with the cartridge thing, as they are basically the new Chavs
I received 2 pairs of KYX shocks with damaged shafts. Looks like someone used plyers on the shafts assembling them.. Brutal.. Who assembles shocks with tooth plyers on bare metal. ??? Ridiculous
Just got done moving what a crazy day. It’s so nice to be able to sit down and know that Mr. C has my back and there’s always a video waiting for me.

@@Camocrawler2868 I'm at 3 months
I unscrewed mine with a pick.then I took a pin file.filed a slot across the cap and used a small flat head screw driver to tighten the seal pack.
The last set I bought had the threaded retainers. They were finger tight. The shock "pistons" were flat washers. 😂

morning gents😊

What's with you reviewing the exact products I've been looking at getting lol youve been a lifesaver with these recently. Thank you!
Same with me!
Really like the way that truck looks

I like the threaded cap. I cut a slot across them with my dremel and I use a small flat head to unscrew and screw them down

In the works rc have opened shop again, they have pretty decent big bores in 70mm 80mm 90mm, I believe they av losi springs......

Pistons. Functional pistons.
@@CrawlerCanyon I forgot that, and its the most important upgrade 😅🤣
Oil slicks look great 👍🏻
My bladders on my clone dravs, they set good for all about 3 days then they blew the seals leaking like crazy. Replaced them with 100 desert lizards
They come In a variety of colors
I've not seen the model with functional pistons and offset caps in anything but oilslick.
@@CrawlerCanyon you are correct. I was referring to other model lol
While watching I'm actually trying to reinstall the seal cap on oily chav's that came out on it's on.🙃
I think you need to get titanium links for wolverine and heat them to look like oil slicks😂

Yo
Wagwan Canyonaeros 👊
Evening
I don’t think u mentioned what brand they actually were? Are they from Amazon? Or?
Links are always in the description.
I think they look a bit tacky ...they should offer them in different colors
