Happy to hear you mention that cooler temps do not hinder the tire grip. On the granite I crawl on, temps in the 40s and a damp feel in the air, gives me the best traction of the year. Additionally, just as the rocks dry off from a good rain, that is also a high traction situation. Spring brings pollen and summer brings dusty conditions. Fall and winter (sans snow) are tremendous crawling periods.
West desert wheeler makes these in a cut n shut that 5.25, along with krawlers, Aztecs, and swampers…..li pricey but as it seems jconcepts doesn’t ever have their5.25s in stock I’ll run the cut n shuts. And you’re supporting the lil guy!
So far as I can tell, 2.2 G8 Trencher is no more. So this was a Rearview? They show as Discontinued on the PL site and don't show up in web searches at all.
I'm from Canada and I actually find my g8 krawlers do very well in the cold and dry. I was using them until we got our first snow. Now I switched to the tusk lp's
I like the trenchers. I have 1.9 G8's. They are in the top 3 for where I live. I'm in the southeast of the UK where for most of the year, if you can find some, we have a type of sandstone to run on that is generally loose and wet and in the shadows is covered in algae. No tyre stands out unless you have nails in the tread😂
I'm running 1.9 Trenchers in predator on my low-budget lcg crawler. I'm on southern Vancouver Island and they work great. I don't run them in the summer.
1.9 Trenchers (Predator) are on the spreadsheet, 33rd place at a 94.6 score As you said, they tie up in 13th place with the 2.2 Canyon Trail, and they are the 2nd best Proline tire
I'm using blue injora silicone inserts in my 1.9 predator trenchers. I cut every other outer fin out if the front inserts and tuned them with fish filter foam.
1.9" Trenchers in G8 were early favorites of mine. Not the best at anything, but pretty good at most things. Their most annoying feature was loading up in muddy conditions.
The trenchers in this setup could be a prime candidate for Re=Volt's 3D foam combo inserts. I do love the tread of the trencher but cost is a factor here (like you said) when you can get others cheaper that will perform as well.
For me in Maine predator only for me….but I’m not trailing just scaling the hardest lines I can find. Ruptures seem good for longevity my 1.9 rups have a tons of miles on em and just now after years slight cracking on sidewall….and my ever newer ones that are the 5.25 rups ordered after your review my fav tire now!!! Just right height w out that big big tire to hurt steeps and sidehills.
Greetings from Norway🇳🇴 I like your channel. Keep up the good testing. But I have a request. Can u please do a quick wiew of the new MOZA 2.2??? Tires??
You prob have one and I know it matters the conditions car terrain etc….but I want a list or a lineup of your top tires starting at top and working down…..performance based grades only

Almost missed this one great tire review. I think the 1.9 Trencher is a good drivers tire. I have g8 and they’ll out last me I’m sure

👍👍👍
Proline was giving the big 2.2 Trenchers away for $7 a pair last year. I snagged 3 pairs for my 6x6. They don't work that great where I crawl.
How would you mount them on that truck??

Does that rig need more over drive/under drive? Maybe....

There’s a whole spreadsheet, linked in the description of most every video. Usually.
