Those are really cool batteries with dual polarity on one end. There is one slight problem though I notice. The battery capacity rating is at 3.6 Volts, so the 5000 mAh is actually not 5000 mAh when charging a phone. 3.6V*5000mAh/5V=3600mAh, so really it's only a 3600 mAh charge you can give to your phone, not the full 5000 mAh. Even if the rating is at 3.7V it's still only 3.7V*5000mAh/5V=3700 mAh. Just so everyone knows. This is the same math that applies to all powerbanks though, you need to make sure the RATED capacity was taken at the voltage you will be using it for.
A battery is always rated at its voltage and discharge. For comparison, the Goal Zero 5000 mAh Flip12 (which has a Samsung 18650 battery) is rated at 5000mAh, but at 5.14V only supplies 1,358 mAh on a 3.6v draw. Also for comparison, the Nitecore 10000 mAh battery bank provides 6267mAh at 5.14v. An impressive 4.6 times the GZ Flip12 rated at half the power. Additionally, the Flip 12 is around 72g and the NC 10,000 about 154g in weight. So for only twice the weight you get 4.6 times the power.
With having the +ve and - ve being so close to each other, you got to be careful about were and with what you leave them with as they can short out easily and cause a fire.
I was thinking the same thing. If you dropped one of those batteries in your pocket and forgot you had change or your car keys in that same pocket, those batteries with that level of energy density could heat up a key to red hot in just a couple of seconds, and boy wouldn't that be fun to try to get out of your pocket as you were dancing around with your pants on fire!

This battery design is really a great upgrade to the standard battery as well as the charger for use on one end. But...the price is WAY too high! Once the prices drop into the 18650 battery price range (even at +10% premium), then you will have a real winner. Best wishes and I hope you have a lot of success, but until the prices are more reasonable, I will have to sit and watch.
Not at all, it's a design with more problems than solutions. Plus, did you not recognize that ALL 18650 and 21700 batteries have the negative also through the cell tube up to the top? You could very easily do this to any cylindrical cell, but it is not done because it's a bad idea.

i bought that lantern last week. i put in on for 10 seconds just to check it out. 1 the magnetic connection isn't as strong as i like meaning i think if it was laying sideways with the plastic part on a higher plane it has chance of just coming apart. and 2 the next day i wanted to try light again and it didnt turn on anymore. tried 2 different newely recharged batteries and nope. was kept in case between charges so there was no accidental impacts. very dissappointed. he makes the company seem like such the top notch light only company and i got sucked right in.the magnetic charger also has a very weak magnetic contact i had to place it carefully on my pile of desktop junk so there was no pressure at all against the top cap or it would pop off easy.

Do you have a way to connect them in series?
How much would shipping be to the UK
Hi. Is there any upgrade model for P18? Tnx
But does it Vape good?
Can you please tell me the weight of the entire set including the case? Thank you
Had the same question and found the answer: 124 grams
Could you tell me the size in inches? It looks a little bigger than a 18650.
The numbers of the battery is uts size thats why 18650 is called that the diameter and length of the battery but I belive you drop the last 0 for those its.juat added for whatever reason they add it to all of them. Like.i have some.20650 from a battery pack that the port got.brokem it's slightly bigger aroumd.but same.lentgh as 18650. Hope that helps out.
a usb C in&Out attachment for a 21700 and I'm sold
@@stinkycheese804 Honestly...I was trying to give a positive comment before my negative comment. It's a technique for getting people to listen to what I am saying. :)
@@DavidAlanReece it's a 21700 battery, noting special. All big flashlight manufacturers have pretty much identical batteries Olight, Fenix and the others but those with proprietary chargers or batteries are real assholes
Is it not dangerous to carry a naked battery as a flashlight? I mean if you drop this on a rock you could rip the battery casing or worse. Great concept but it’s still impractical seeing as you also have to carry the light (top) and battery part separate (one in each pocket) or carry in the case. Maybe as a house flashlight?
Yes it’s only mean for indoor use, camping, while you organize some gear. Not as a main handheld light
Nice pocketrocket when u have those in ur backpack. 😂
Hey man, Your videos sure are explanatory and awesome. These lantern toppers are kick ass. Now, im an Olight and Fenix user, Can your lantern tops and charger tops be used with other company 5000 mah 21700's? Nitecore makes some nice products. You sure know your stuff and do your homework on each product. Keep the awesome videos coming. Many years ago i bought a Nitecore headlamp And will definitely have to check out their products again. Whats on your shelves in the background in your videos as the camera never focuses behind you? Im also one of them high lumen light buyers like you explained in a headlamp video and hate when turbos only run for a short time, But i do understand when you explained everything. But, I have the Fenix 18,000 lumen LR80R and i think it lasts a couple hours on turbo. I also have their newest 21,000 lumen light But like the bigger face 18,000 lumen one better.
Where are they made?
Just got mine today. ❤️ it 🙏🏽
where did you get it please
I'll be good if charging unit can do fast charging. And P20i can submerge similar depth as DL10 then it would be complete package. No need to buy another power bank. Period!
Can you use the lantern and charge the kit itself at the same time?
Work with olight?
No. Olight is its own proprietary thing
Can you use that battery in vape?
Is the battery wrapped in plastic when purchased brand new?
If bought seperate it comes in a crystal pack. If bought in the lantern kit there’s no plastic wrap. It sits unpacked in the box.
@@NitecoreSG thanks for replying. I actually bought one and sad to say I was disappointed as I received a battery that has so many dents and the button top isn't even aligned...
@@jasonl6486 was it working though? You can get it replace if it’s not working in anyway
@@NitecoreSG yep, it was working. Though it doesn't charge devices at 2A as advertised so NO FAST charging there... It was refunded but I really was looking forward to this light Too bad it got QC issues unlike the rest of the products from Nitecore
@@jasonl6486 lol.
We need type C 😢
Is shipping available in India?
19 hours refers to what the timing is .. is it like turning on the lights from 8 pm-19pm tomorrow .. only the walking time stops ..
Fast charging?
I just wished it would use usb c to charge... then it would be perfect!
i bought that lantern last week. i put in on for 10 seconds just to check it out.
That’s exactly what it was made for, a quick way to charge or as a side table lamp, not as a rugged flashlight. The magnet is not that strong.
Looks cool, but seems dangerous to have pos and neg on the same side. There are already people putting 18650 batteries in their pockets with metal objects and shorting them.
Don't put Li-ion Cells in pockets then lol. I don't care if you need to Vape every second, store the fuckers in a container.
@@Vinnay94 I keep mine in a container. There are many people who do not understand the energy stored in these batteries and they hurt themselves which gives more fuel to anti-vaping campaigns.
What's the average internal resistance of that battery?
how to order
This is great! This means you could get less resistance in Flashlights. Normally the Negative runs through the body of the flashlight which is usually made of Aluminium which is not the best conductor, but this new Battery will make running old and new flashlights more efficiently.
You can use rechargeable 2800mah AA batteries for that. But efficiency with lithium is better
Why is such a great product like F21i not continued or replaced with an improved one?
That's very sad!!!
Another person gave me a tactical pen for the same reason of that flashlight; can’t find batteries (it has a tiny light on the end) it’s a Rough Rider 1863 Tactical LED Black Writing Pen with Aluminum Construction
Model - RR1863. And I’ve exhausted my resources here to find a batt for it. I wondered if there was a rechrgbl and if my nitecore would work.
Which battery does this replace ?
21700 Li-ion I guess
Im hooked on this
Brilliant light , so i bought 2 👍🏻👍🏻
0:41 -Write the name of this flashlight.-
Do not pay attention - I have already found it, it is very expensive.
you may have been looking at the prices in singapore dollars.
@@renchrisv Nope
$79 is way overpriced
@@fozzygt8737 maybe try looking at the US store? $34.95
@@fozzygt8737 In my country, we have a salary of $ 200. In America, with a salary of $ 5,000, it can be $ 79 that's cheap.
So could this work in my olight maybe? 🤔
Excellent battery innovation but that "lantern" comes up way short on light output compared to the flashlight output.
Yeah, it's a tiny lantern intended for general area lighting, like in a tent.
olight still has the smallest charger.
this combination though looks like a winner.
all this needs is a waterproof carrying case.
Having the dual polarity looks dangerous but I’m sure there’s a protection circuit in there to prevent short circuits.
What's the name of that voltage reader? Nice add-on to the set.
Here it is - www.nitecorelights.com/products/usb-voltage-tester
When he said TAK, TAK, TAK . . I had a 'Nam flashback which made me realize I need to vacuum underneath my desk. Why didn't they make a flashlight top too? The lantern is cool but I want a magnetic flashlight top with a rotary dial for brightness please.
why not using USB-C ?
lol.
Ever thought that people like myself use rechargeable AA batteries? 😆 Lithium lasts longer than 19 hours on medium and double polarity battery is used on Olight torches with the magnetic charger
These batteries are Fire hazzard incoming
Any large battery is but this one might be worse than others of the same size
These double polarity 21700 batteries are hard to find.
Great video, does that work with 5000mAh 21700 Olight batteries?
It does not
Well, it is a copy of olight, so would be interesting to see?
@@paulwhat322 copy of olight ? no its not
Very cool new gadget from Nitecore..
nice video bro!👍👍👍 ..can i order that here in the Philippines? whats the procedure?
We ship worldwide via DHL. Just order at the link in the description
What is the mah of that battery? Interesting concept!
LMAO, it's mentioned in the video and written on the side of the battery. 0:37 5000mah, there's another that's 4000mah, you can even see that in the thumbnail.
