I am not an online person, I find it's too stressful trying to get the tab battery to be charged all the time. I love pencil to paper (I have to erase my mistakes) and I have both a regular planner and a bullet journal for all of my ideas. How many journals do you use at a time?
I like bullet journaling on a pocket sized diary, but in the last few years I ended up using online calendars because of the notification reminder option.
Bullet journal, I have been using it for the last 5 years and love the entire process, the yearly set up, the monthly review and upcoming events , and my favorite my weekly setting, which I also use as the place to record my memories/notes of things that happened or notes from a phone call, or big purchases info. I LOVE my BUJO.... thank you for sharing yours. Merry Christmas and Happy Zen
Your bullet journals are my favorite! They’re always so clean (even with the mistakes). They’re beautiful! And I love the fact that you encourage people to use what they already have.. you’re simply the best. You’re honestly so inspiring, I like to leave your videos playing in the background as I journal because they’re so calming and motivating. I also like that you shared uncommon classes on Skillshare, it goes to show you actually use the product you’re selling. And thank you for mentioning that they have subtitles no one else talks about this stuff. Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
3:57 I've never seen the monthly page being set up this way! I actually like it a lot. By the way, thanks for making a journal a journal and not an art project! 😊
I use a purchased daily planner for weekly and monthly events/to-do’s, etc. In addition, I hand write my daily lists. My iPad notes work for wish lists, longer term planning, budgets and so on. Thanks for your suggestions.
I used to use dotted journals. Now i am in a busy season, so i have purchased dated weekly planner by mypaperclip which is very basic. And a plain ruled notebook for devotional. “Letting go off perfection” is the wisdom i needed the most. Thank you 👍 Really appreciate your video.
Vera, you are SO inspiring! I love the bullet journal and I can't believe I haven't heard of it/used it before. I have kept a normal diary every year which ends up looking like a dog's dinner after about 2 weeks but this is perfect, especially the in/out section. Thank you as always for your valuable and motivating content! Sending hugs 🤗
My high school self would love this method. I never knew it was called bullet journaling but I do all this in a spreadsheet format on my computer. In the last 12 years I've noticed that I don't really write with pen/paper, it's not by choice but since I've always been a personal assistant I find that I depend more on technology from spreadsheets to publishers and different database. But I do keep track of everything in the same layout as your journal. 😊 leaned something new...Thank you for sharing this.
I just came across this video and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't so complicated as some other bujo setups. I do enjoy watching artistic type of bujos. I just dont't have enough time to follow those examples. My life is quite hectic and your version is just what I need to start my very first bullet journal.
I like to use journals for keeping some lists or just any thoughts that come to mind- I also have a food journal that helps me to see what I eat every day- but for planning, I tend to use either my phone or a desktop calendar. Being able to see my plans that way makes it easier to hold myself accountable since I don't always look back at any notes I write down in a notebook 😆
Loved this as usual. As as OCD I have been journaling for a few years too, and it keeps my brain and life very sane and organised. I have ideas constantly flowing in my head that need to be written. I always get so excited to see what you are doing and how you do it. I enjoy and appreciate your tips.
I loved this! I much prefer the minimal aesthetic and have found myself going this route as I find it much more functional. I also use a physical planner alongside my bullet journal which for my scattered brain helps to keep me focused lol.
Starting year 4 of BuJo. Like you, I have also simplified mine and changed it as I go. I use the same type of journal as you. One thing I find very helpful is adding a future log for the current year and also the following year. It helps me keep track of things like vacations, weddings and other large life events in the future. I also like having a year calendar that I just print from the internet and glue into the beginning on my year. I use a monthly page mostly, and the index is crucial. The rest is pretty freestyle and changes as the months go by.
Thanks for this video, for the first time I started my bu-jo in 2021 and I followed your ideas. I’ve already realized what will work for me, so I’ll review my layouts this new year. Thank you so very much for inspiring me to ignore the perfectionist side in favor of the productive on. I also will be reusing my old bu-jo, as I have more than plenty of pages for this year and probably the next 🥰 thank you SO much!
Hello, every year I start Bujo but I never made it to keep it. Your minimalist way of approach to Bullet journal is something I want to try. Thank you for your tips and video from 2022. I hope my 2023 Bujo experience would be a life changing for me. and I would be able to keep it.
Thanks! Looking to upgrade my daily journaling practices. The DIY approach is interesting. Right now I log my hourly activities on 4x6 index cards while also using Full focus planner.
I copied a lot of your pages from your last year's journal and it was great. I really enjoyed making it as well. The pages in the back that were left over, I used for notes and general idea and it was great to have everything in one place. I also made a page for 2022 for things like Drs appointments that would be in the that year. Keeping them in one place helps me transfer them to the next planner.
I use the brackets too :))) My bujo consists only of weekly pages (one page per week), two lines for each day and running list under them. I use Google calendar as birthdays reminder and bujo for all other routines and events :)
So different from previous years! I love that you know what works for you. I’m still trying to nail down what works for me. The wish list is a great minimalist tool😀
Wonderful video, I'm always in between minimalistic planning and artsy but always practical as the most important thing. This video sparked creativity to create layouts. Exactly what I was looking for. You're always a winner for me, Vera, when it comes to this type of content amongst your peers here on TH-cam. Super grateful to have found you on 2020 during pandemic, you're my favorite creator.
I returned to a monthly planner to track my budget and have regained peace! I circle paydays and list the payment on the date it’s due. As I don’t mail in payments, this works fine. I just pay everything due before the next payday. As for my Bujo, I must admit I’m becoming minimalistic. I rarely use my washi tapes anymore and utilize bulleted lists as a rule.
Love the idea of the Wish List. I’m currently working on my 2022 journal and I think there’s a lot of value in that so I’m going to place it in mine. Thanks for the tips!
Hi thank you for your video. I have also minimised my spread and now I set up my 12 Monthly spreads on boxning day every year (box system) and three wellness trackers for period/temperature/weight. I also set up a gratitude spread with 24 hearts to fill in (2per month) and I start out the year with a quote. And that is it. Then during the year I use the rest of the pages for what ever pops up. I have a tiny notebook in my purse for on the go where I keep runnning lists of whishes, measurments of my home/things/kids, future to dos, groceries etc and I keep my daily to do in my Phone. Because I am burnt out, I like to keep my daily list in my Phone so when I am finnished with a task I can delete it and the list gets shorter and actually empty. My rule is to only put max 5 things on the list. You can always add more if you finnish early but I never do. Love your videos. And I must say that your accent is getting less noticeable for every video, soon people will think you are american. Funny how that both makes me proud of your change and a bit sad at the same time, because I like accents. English is not my first language either. My friends say I have a one of a kind accent when speaking English because of having teachers from all over the world, if that is good or bad I don't know... ;) i hope a bit charmig! I wish you a fantastic new year!
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts Petra, love the idea for a gratitude spread with 24 hearts to fill in! Also, thank you so much for your kind words. :) I'm not actively working on hiding my accent, but I find that as I continue to make more videos in English, my pronunciation changes gradually over time. I kind of hope there will always be a hint of my Dutch accent though haha. Wishing you all the best for 2022! 🤗✨💕🍾
Thank you for your straightforward approach to the Bullet Journal. I have not been doing my BuJo for a while, though I loved it. Wanting to get back to it, as it was helpful. The reason I think I stopped was my inclination to Perfectionism!! 🙃 Have you analyzed how you used your 2022 journal at the end of this year? Just wondering if you have changes for 2023. Thank you again for your peaceful and thoughtful videos. ♥
I use bullet journal for 1,5 years now and You were one of the person that inspired me to do this ❤ I went more creative now but it was still nice to see your setup for 2022 🤩
Vera...your video reaches me with a good timing; ac I am planning for my 2022 BuJo. A new year and a new month always opens up the question on what kind of headers/spreads to keep and what to drop. I will certainly 'borrow and steal' ideas from you, like the in/out list, and of course avoid to many artsy stuff like flowers, birds etc. I have found a good balance between the traditional Google Calender where all details on events, timeblocking etc is done, and then the trad handmade Bujo. After each month I print out the passed month and glue it in my BuJo, so I easily collect the details per day of the passed month and add it to my BuJo .....
I love the simplicity of just one notebook and ONE pen - not a million different pens, highlighters, stickers, etc. However, do you ever miss not having things color-coded, or writing your appointments or notes in pen and then having to scratch out when they change? I’m currently using just a very dark mechanical pencil for that reason. It erases cleanly, and it’s dark enough to almost mimic a black pen. I got the refills from JetPens (Neox Graphite 2B in 0.7mm)
I love your bullet journal so much and copied a lot of your ideas for a couple of years. It worked really well. I have however realised that I'm a bit lazy about setting it up. I've found the Hobonichi Techo A5 a great compromise. I use it very similarly but it has more already drawn in for me. I also love using tiny rubber stamp icons for setting it up for the week. Then I circle or tick things off as they get done :)
Hi Vera 👋 love this video. I have tried bullet journaling several times. In fact, the journal I have looks just like yours inside and I started it in 2016 😄. I have written in it every year but obviously some years only have a few pages because I built it up to be more complicated than it was. As I tried to use other planners in the past I found then to be too chunky and heavy. And why do I need the entire year laid out and bring it with me everywhere? In a psychological sense the bujo represents for me, that time is not guaranteed for us, so to write out one month, one week, at a time has a lot of charm to it. I adore the clean layout and am going to use it for my first bujo try of 2022. I hope you are doing very well and always look forward to your content. It adds so much value to my life.
I use a daily calendar in which I write appointments, things to do and daily tasks. I also have a notebook in which I write my thoughts, projects or worries, but not everyday. At the end of the year I declutter the daily calendar, but I keep the notebook. Am I the only one who find bullet journaling a bit “to much” for everyday?
Great video, Vera. I use a pre-printed planner, but it has very simple spreads that are pretty much identical to yours. They are spreads that work for me, but it has taken me years and years and many different planners to find the one that works.
My wife and I feel as if we are always on the go and busy with work and-no time to do stuff around the house. I think the journal would be nice, however I feel like I would get disappointed by seeing what we didn’t accomplish from our list. How do you or anyone avoid this conundrum? Thanks for the videos, you are like a therapist for me. I watch your videos and they make me feel better and give me encouragement to do things or that things will be ok!
The key is to write realistic to-do lists. Better to write a really small list of things (or just 1 thing) that you can accomplish easily with some time left over, than to write a list with things you won't have time for. Thanks so much for your kind words!
Hoi Vera!
I'd never heard of a bullet journal, so it was a bit frustrating that you never said what it was or why you'd do it; I only figured it out when I saw the preprinted dot matrix. I'd also never heard of low-buy, and you explained it even less. I like your artistic boxes, and I can see it as a good way to organize your lists. I've just restarted journaling after many years, but mine is just paragraphs of brainstorming. I debated what kind of book to use, and decided on loose-leaf lined paper so it would be the most flexible for whatever kind of book I might want in the future. Right now I have them on a clipboard, which I write on.
Thanks for the feedback Mike! I can imagine it would be a little frustrating if you were waiting for the explanation. I didn't want to make the intro to this video too long, but perhaps I could have explained a little better :)
Love the spreads you choose for 2022 Vera. To answer your question I buy a week to view diary sometimes A5 size or pocket size. for 2022 I have chosen pocket size in the notes sections I use it for mini spreads ie. Self care list.. Information list ideas to inspire list my general task list.... so I look at it and I will take from it what I need to put in the weekly section of my diary ie self are list.. say its meditation I will put meditation in the week to view section of my diary. Every Friday I fill out my weekly diary for the next week starting Monday to Sunday so allof my next week is set up and I tick off as I use my diary. But I love looking at BJs and love the idea about them but I prefer to buy a diary have a lovely weekend Vera and a happy week ahead love and hugs 💜 Thanks for sharing 🎄
I have been using a bullet journal for the last 3 years. However, I tend to skip weeks together as I find myself too busy to write things or even read them. But then I always find myself behind on so many things. I need to get back on track
I bought a bullet journal last year hoping to use it, but I never did! I got overwhelmed, but this year, I will do it! My bullet journal has pretty thin pages and most things go through the page to the other side, so I'm limited with what I can use -_-
Vera I really like how pretty you make your bujo😃. I tried a bujo in 2020, but I personally found it to confusing 🤔😁. so maybe the setup was not great for me. I got back to use a regular planner last year and for 2022, it is big enough to fit all in, light enough to take it with me where I go. Hope you have a good week 🎄🌟💝
Thanks!! :) I agree, some bujo setups can be very confusing in the beginning, there's a bit of a learning curve. That's why I like to keep it simple and stick to what works for me :) But if you have a planner that works, that's great too of course :) Enjoy the weekend!
Do you freehand journal at all? If so, where would you write it? I'm guessing just below the Tasks area as shown in the Weekly Spread section at 10:10. When I say freehand, I mean like Virginia Woolf or Anne Frank style.
I tried it a few years ago. I made to much work of it so I coudn’t keep up with it. Seeing your BUJO now, I think “that makes sense” so maybe I’ll try it again for next year. About your Japanese lessons, I started in june last year, how about you? I mainly do self studies and use TH-cam and some books. 頑張って❣️
Thanks Carmen!! Yes bujo'ing can be a lot of work, and hard to stick to because of that. Simplicity is key :) So cool that you started Japanese lessons! :) I've been studying it for a few years now, but I still need a lot of improvement haha. 頑張ってね!
I really like my bullet journal, but I may take out some spreads I do because I never look at them after the fact. I love quote pages, though, and the quote you chose is really nice! I might have to keep it handy for a monthly quote sometime next year. :3
I have tried Bullet journaling in the past but I can never stick with it. I think it’s because I always tried to follow the original butter journal system and it was just too complicated. I think adjusting the system to your own needs is a better idea. Use only the parts that are important to you.
There's a link in the description to the exact pens I use :) I like the set of 6 different thickness. Usually use a thicker pen for the lines (05) and a thinner pen for the text (02).
It’s a good quote and I agree with it. I don’t mind mistakes I can do over or fix but my writing mistakes irritate me because I make so many of them while thinking about the thought expressed and not about the actual writing. 😍
Haha I know what you mean :) It's a nice, mindful moment to plan out the week, pen to paper, every monday morning :) Plus, I already look at so many screens, it's nice to have something else to look at haha
@@SimpleHappyZen oh sure not a problem 😊 I think this is one of the most anticipated videos right now! So happy it's out. Very excited for the plans for this channel for 2022. Keep going vera!
Not basic enuf for me, unfortunately...( lost me @counting dots????!)🤯 I'll follow your link(s) for a more simple, basic set up. This one isn't it, unfortunately🙄
Which do you like best? Regular planners, online calendars or bullet journals? 🤗📒👇
I like your festive lights throughout your video, might try that while bulleting
😅
@ SHANNON SOLANGE I thought I'd make it nice and cozy for everyone 😄

Love how you make your bullet journal simple and what works for you. All the art in many others is intimidating.
Thanks Charla! :) Yes it was intimidating for me as well :) Really beautiful to look at, but not something I could keep up

Thank you. I was about to set my bullet journal up for 2022 and this gave me some really good ideas.
Happy to hear it :) Have lots of fun with your bujo
2021 was the first year I used a bullet journal (I took a lot of inspo from you in the minimal setup) and I LOVED it. Plan on continuing to bujo!
That's awesome! :) Happy bullet journaling, Olivia! :)

Oh that sounds handy! Thanks Bengt and have a happy Monday!
I love this! I bought a new bujo a few weeks ago and am planning to set it up this weekend.
That's awesome! :) Enjoy!
Your video was so helpful! I’m trying to use what I have and buy less this year.
Hello Vera glad you’re back and great the bullet journal is back😀
Haha thank you so much Bill! :) Hope you're doing well
I did one like yours last year and i'll do it again!!
Yay! 🤗💖
Thank you, Vera. Another well thought out video full of useful information.
Thank you so much Linda! :) So happy to hear it
I love your bullet journal so much and copied a lot of your ideas for a couple of years.
Ah sounds awesome Lorna 😄📚
Sounds like a good system! :) And I agree, some bullet journal setups can be too much for me to keep up too. That's why I like to keep it simple :)
Great video, Vera.
I use a pre-printed planner, but it has very simple spreads that are pretty much identical to yours. They are spreads that work for me, but it has taken me years and years and many different planners to find the one that works.
Yes it does take a bit of experimenting and trying different things to see what works :) Happy you found a good system for you!
Hoi Vera!
Great ideas with the bullet journal. I'm also very minimalist too. Thanks
Happy to hear it! :) Thanks Anabela, happy bullet journaling!
Hi Vera, I love your first page note. It is so inspiring 🥰
Thank you so much! :) I love that quote too
I'd never heard of a bullet journal, so it was a bit frustrating that you never said what it was or why you'd do it; I only figured it out when I saw the preprinted dot matrix.
OH YES I love the idea for a self care list!!! Going to include that too :) Thanks Deborah

I like your minimalist bullet journal. More my style. Maybe I’ll stick with it.
I have been using a bullet journal for the last 3 years. However, I tend to skip weeks together as I find myself too busy to write things or even read them. But then I always find myself behind on so many things. I need to get back on track
Haha yes I have that too sometimes. If I skip a couple of weeks, I'll immediately get reminded of how nice it is to use it haha
Wow Vera.... Very nice. It's a pathway of our whole year activities.
What a detailed study.. great 👍 Thanks for the same 🎉 enjoy moments 👍
Thanks so much for the kind comment and have a happy Monday!
I try and keep my bujo simple. I like using stickers and washi tape to help act like page markers.
Love it! :) Stickers and washi tape are nice and easy to use :)
I bought a bullet journal last year hoping to use it, but I never did! I got overwhelmed, but this year, I will do it! My bullet journal has pretty thin pages and most things go through the page to the other side, so I'm limited with what I can use -_-
Good luck with it this year and happy bullet journaling!
Thank you
You're very welcome Patti, have fun with your bujo!
This is amazing! ☮️
Thanks so much Jennie! :) Have a happy Monday!
A habit tracker would be nice
Thanks Jaluna!! :) Yes I love that quote too
Mine is even more minimalist and simpler ;) Thanks for sharing !
Love from France
I have tried Bullet journaling in the past but I can never stick with it. I think it’s because I always tried to follow the original butter journal system and it was just too complicated. I think adjusting the system to your own needs is a better idea. Use only the parts that are important to you.
Exactly! :) There's no bullet journal police :) Just stick with what works for you
What are the 2 pens you use? Brand thickness etc.
There's a link in the description to the exact pens I use :) I like the set of 6 different thickness. Usually use a thicker pen for the lines (05) and a thinner pen for the text (02).
❤ Good info
Thanks so much Shelley :)
The in and out spread seems like something I could start to adopt. Btw, is this the official Bullet Journal notebook?
Happy to hear it! :) I don't know if this is official... it's from Leuchturm. I have the link in the description
I love your rings! 😻 Would you mind sharing the brand / link?
Thanks for your vids, always a pleasure to watch 💜
Thank you so much!! Actually, I just filmed my next video where I talk about them :) So stay tuned :)
@@SimpleHappyZen Perfect, looking forward to it! All the best :)
Where did you get your journal? It looks like a perfect size. Not to big.
It's really nice :) I have the links to my notebook and the pens I like to use in the description of this video
@@SimpleHappyZen Does the ink go through to the other page. (Ghosting) ?
@@diannamallow5195 It's an affiliate link and should take you directly to the Amazon page of the notebook. 😊
Where do you find your dotted notebook
Hi Donna! The links to the notebook and pens are in the description of this video :)
I’m impressed that you can make a mistake (in the quote) and not let it bother you. 🤭
No one is perfect 😄 And my bujo doesn't have to be either. The quote stands on its own 😊
It’s a good quote and I agree with it. I don’t mind mistakes I can do over or fix but my writing mistakes irritate me because I make so many of them while thinking about the thought expressed and not about the actual writing. 😍
Hahaha yes I think that is what happened actually
I use a digital planner that has templates for dotted pages but just the look of a paper bujo makes me miss paper and pen so much :(
Haha I know what you mean :) It's a nice, mindful moment to plan out the week, pen to paper, every monday morning :) Plus, I already look at so many screens, it's nice to have something else to look at haha
@@SimpleHappyZen Oh that sounds so nice and soooo Vera. Thanks for the reply, made my day!
Where can you pursue your bullet journals?
💝
Hi Sylvia!! 🤗
Damn Girrrrrl. You think this is minimalist? I guess I get overwhelmed too easily.
OK, so 50vids later, (im slow) "spreads" are just TOPICS you want to track?
Firsttt I can't believe this. Can I get pinned?
Yay! :) Haha I have my own discussion comment pinned, but congrats on your early comment! :)
@@SimpleHappyZen oh sure not a problem 😊 I think this is one of the most anticipated videos right now! So happy it's out. Very excited for the plans for this channel for 2022. Keep going vera!

Not basic enuf for me, unfortunately...( lost me @counting dots????!)🤯
I'll follow your link(s) for a more simple, basic set up.
This one isn't it, unfortunately🙄
Loved the video even though I don't journal 😌 My life is too chaotic with a family, it de-rails from the journal evey other day 😑
Happy you enjoyed the video anyway! :) Take care and have a nice day
