    This really sucks, because having a negative mindset is my life. Everyday I wake up and I hear my voice telling me all the mistakes I made, and wheb I walk out of my bedroom I hear it out loud from my parents telling me that I haven't done anything when really I've done so much already. And I hear them telling me what mistakes I made and that makes me think that I'm always wrong. Which usually leads me to acting out. It scares me because I know its not me. I have a lot of things to work ob and I know listening to Psych2go helps a lot.

      I believe in you, each day challenge that negative voice with something positive. When a negative thought comes around, do something that will impact you positively right after and then when you do that you can catch the negative voice or thought and stop it from forming itself and quickly switch it to something positive. This requires a little bit of effort but once you give it a shot or acknowledge what I said and try to imply it. It will start to work. I believe in you❤️

    Trying to control everything and comparing myself to others are the hardest things I'm trying to change.
    It's hard when you lose you mom, dad, grandad, brother and uncle from age 9-13 and you think of yourself as a failure for not saving them.
    Then you go on the comparison amplifiers (youtube, twitch, tiktok, instagram) and see all the successful people. Then you beat yourself up, mentally and physically for being the biggest failure on earth

    I'm an optimist and my mom is a "realist" (pessimist) and growing up she could be very negative.. even now she seems to like finding fault. I hear her voice in my head with everything I do and everyone I meet. It took decades to even notice, and though I love my mother, I am not my mother, and what works for her is not what works for me. I've had to retrain my brain into believing that she is not the authority on my life or my emotions. I encourage others to listen to their inner voice.. is it yours, or is it what someone placed there when you were too young to know the difference?

    • @insomniacbritgaming1632
      @insomniacbritgaming1632 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      A realist is a combination of the two! Because they often see the positives and negatives!!

    • @Frankya92
      @Frankya92 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Going through this right now. I started to realize this 3 years ago, and started some deep self-reflection. Unfortunately I also have ran into mistakes during the process, but that has also taught me that it’s due to lack of boundaries my parents never teaching us growing up. I’ve even returned for therapy, which has finally proven effective after finding the right person. At the end of the day though this only means we’re only human, and doing you what you can for your mental health is also a sign of healing

    • @AnnoftheGables
      @AnnoftheGables 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I can relate a lot to this! I grew up around almost the same situation and didn't realize why I was how I was. Now that I know it makes so much sense and I am working towards a better, healthier version of me and a better future. I totally agree about listening to your inner voice and your inner voice only, dont let the narrative in your head belong to someone else. Sending you lots of love.

    • @bomoore9872
      @bomoore9872 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      well realist is just honest. saying "we're all gonna die" "there's no point" its purely honest, nothing wrong with that

    • @WomenCallYouMoid
      @WomenCallYouMoid 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's not pessimistic to criticize people constantly. Pessimism is the harsh truth, and optimism is the pretty life. Death is of the former, and the latter be like life.
      If you're pathetic, accept it and grow around it. If you were used, accept it, and grow. A different view on life, unless if it's a dangerous one (which pessimism isn't shouldn't ruin you.
      It's closer to psychopathy or narcissism to insult others and see yourself as the ultimate authority, never finding any faults within. Well, I'm a broken mind, with disturbing views, no matter how true they are, and I accept it without sugar coating or lying about it. If others can't accept it, then I don't give a damn.
      I don't really get what you mean with negative. I'm constantly negative, and even when I'm hiding it, you can subconsciously see glimpses of it. Kind of gives a depressive feeling around me. I would call it an aura if people wouldn't think I mean that in a spiritual way, which is kind of idiotic. The only way to fix ignorance, is to wipe it off the planet.
      I hold no racist, or homophobic views. I do hold empathy, and can feel righteous anger for others. But that disappears quicker than it does for most. I wouldn't call it cruelty; but pessimism.
      Then there's the holier-than-thou attitude. Those who think they're better than you and that you constantly over-react. Those who are demeaning and cruel. Those who constantly mention your failures. That's not pessimism. It could be a variety of things. Gaslighting, blackpill mentality, narcissism, etc. etc.
      So, my question is: what do you mean by negative? If it's the former, then maybe it's not that bad. The latter? The "remember when you did this, or when you did that" attitude? Well, it's not pessimism, and you can't blame it on that.

    i don't know much about things i've experienced when i was young because i never managed to identify red flags so i'm not sure if this is true but i may or may not have experienced toxic positivity several times throughout when i was young, idk if that's true because as i said i never managed to identify red flags when i was younger, but toxic positivity seems to be a valid reason as to why i usually hate phrases such as "you can do it" when people tell me like it doesn't seem to help i don't know why but it seems that toxic positivity makes the most sense

      @@meme-bc8tf Hey, don't be like that.
      Actually, our families don't understanding us can be more common than you might think... it doesn't mean that no one will.
      I know you can find some friends out there, or even here in the comment sections of this channel, that will hear you, understand you and support you! ^^
      Don't give up! ^^

      @@meme-bc8tf I spent a long time thinking expressing myself was pointless but trust me you have to try. Nobody in my family understands me but I have friends who do. It is very frustrating not being able to be myself in front of my family but I have friends who like me for who I really am.
      I know it's gonna be really hard learning to express yourself again but if you try you'll find someone who understands you eventually, it probably feels hopeless for you right now but you know deep down you haven't completely given up, if you had you wouldn't be following a psychology channel

    Ever since the breakup I've started being an impatient person and more stubborn. Waiting for something gives me an awful feeling like it'll never come. I was once quick to respond and have long conversations, now I get relief from seeing unread messages, and I keep them unread. I feel terrible afterwards, bc now I'm no better than my ex. I just can't help it. Tysm for reading I'm in my feels and having an identity crisis gotta get stuff off my chest.

    …1… 0:33 Having a negative mindset
    I don’t have a negative mindset. In fact, I often find that visualizing success tends to lead you in the right direction (as long as the path is something you travel and not left up to someone else). Hence, I'm set for life (as far as personal finances).
    …………………………………..
    …2… 2:30 Not expressing yourself
    I express myself a lot. However, what I find is that people generally do not listen. While it helps to put my concepts out there (be it in art, music, building improvements, etc.., people still judge you on what society tells them to judge you on ---- it is rarely on what you do.
    …………………………………..
    …3… 3:10 Fantasizing instead pf visualizing
    Fantasizing is just the first step to visualizing. I recommend that people take it further. Most of success in personal endeavors is the work. The dream is the easy part.
    …………………………………..
    …4… 3:36 Not making time for personal relationships
    I have all the time in the world for personal relationships. Of course, I am social pariah, so that does not happen much.
    …………………………………..
    …5… 4:10 Trying to control everything
    I only control my own actions. Others? Well, most of the world is so slave to “how it looks to others” that social pariah like myself are to be shunned.
    …………………………………..
    …5… 4:46 Worrying about what others say or do
    I do not “worry” about being marginalized. It just happens.
    …………………………………..

    I've been given a hard lesson recently on just how mentally weak I actually am. Coming from a family that demanded stoicism, not relying on others and not expressing yourself has been a years long conditioning that has been excruciating to let go off but since being injured and housebound I've had to learn to lean on others and ask for help constantly and for a while I thought the humiliation of it all coupled with my being stripped of my independence might just about kill me.
