I think having a dashcam fitted as standard from the factory, would actually put more people off buying a bike than would it attract 🤷♂️ A lot of people are still very suspicious of dashcams and are worried about them incriminating them through their riding - irrespective of the fact that our phones we carry with us everywhere, record our speed and exact location at all times anyway 👍

Im using a K3, pretty good except the download to phone times. K5 front camera was too bulky for my liking as wanted a discrete install. I believe the K5 was so big owing to cables not being able to transfer the data fast enough. This looks nice and compact. Some people need to remember these are dash cams and not vlogging/action cams. Used my footage once to prove someone hit me and a second time for the police after i came across an accident.
It would be a good camera, but unfortunately the bitrate is too low (12K bit/s at 1080). The image is pixelated wrong quality. I will stay with my K2 with modified firmware (bitrate 20K bit/s) I will return the K7 to the seller. It was a big disappointment, and I was really looking forward about the EIS.
There should be no discernable difference between the spacial resolution of 2k and 1080 given that both operate at 1080 vertical resolution. 2k will give a slightly wider image at 2048 pixels compared to 1920 pixels for 1080. There will not be any change in resolution. The biggest difference, visually between different dashcams, will be in the processing of the data and the compression used to create the video files.

Great review Bruce, I have a k3 as my commuter dashcam (into central London) it’s amazing how attitudes change when you point out you have one to car drivers… we’re also in the process of getting all the work ‘job’ bikes fitted with them 👍 Is the file download to the iPhone photos folder a new feature for the k7? Mine always saves to the folder within the innov app and it’s my biggest gripe!?
Excellent review. The parking mode is extremely useful, as this will be needed for most insurance claims that arise when you're away from the vehicle. Without video footage, you'll be in for a world of pain dealing even with your own insurance company and fully comp insurance, let alone the third party's insurer. For moving footage I prefer 4K cameras (Sony) or 5.7K 360 degree cameras (Garmin), so that number plates can be read from up to 100 feet (30m) away. I would also get the H5 4K HELMET CAMERA, as this uses the SONY 4K image sensor, which certainly can capture the required detail without any blurring that occurs with 1080HD.
I did a review of the H5, wasn’t impressed personally and don’t think the footage was any better than the K7? The Garmin is £600 bud! For one camera?! Plus it’s no longer available and isn’t an automatic system, so not really comparable as a motorcycle dashcam - but yes it will give a far better image. However I’d just buy a cheap GoPro knockoff from Amazon for less than £100 if that’s all I wanted👍

With the mic did you have a dead cat on the lavalier for the innov cam ? That might clean ip the wind noise if you didn’t ? Great review and you have to love that Summer Blighty weather right !! How easy are the cameras to wipe down after rain/mud riding ?
I’ve used a dead cat on the K3 and K5 mics. It takes some of the wind noise away but the sound quality of the mics themselves isn’t as good as any cheap lav mic you can buy on Amazon - I don’t know why that is. The cameras are easily wiped clean, I just give them a wipe when I clean my visor and helmet camera etc

LOL, the pheasant 😆 I head butted one earlier this year . . . it was like getting smacked by a light air craft. . . 2 days headache and £80 to repair the visor and mountings 😠 as for the bird ? he left the scene of the accident, video footage wouldn't have helped to track him down. This Innovv system looks great, tempting. 😎
Can you put the 1080 at 60fps performance up under various conditions? Would be the only reason to consider it at this end. Performance still seems gash.
Hi . I have the K7 running it with iPhone 14 , IOS 17. Did you have any connection issues between your phone and the camera to access settings ? My iPhone simply refuses to connect to the K7 but does with an older phone running IOS 16 . Any issues ?
Just installed one on my GSA 1250, can’t find any videos on my app, but they are there when I remove the sd card and put in laptop, any idea why? My phone is connected by WiFi to the DVR.
@teapotone I know the video is about the cameras, but it shows how the matrix headlight works. There are not many videos showing the lights at night, so it is a good way to show us.

It’s got a ‘Smart battery’ feature where it monitors the voltage of the battery, and then it drops below 12.5v it won’t work anymore. I’ve been using INNOVV’s with this feature since it was introduced with the K2/K3 years ago, and never had it run down a battery. In terms of how long it records for, if you have it set to record 1min loops then it’ll record a 1min section for as long as any motion is detected by the G-sensor. Accordingly, if you have it set to 5min loops, then it’ll record a 5min section
I say in the vid that I’d knocked the front dashcam when cleaning it, hence why it’s squint. Yep the insta360 Ace Pro has fantastic low light quality doesn’t it, but it’s a dedicated action camera with a far bigger and better sensor (it’s also much more expensive). Dashcam’s aren’t meant to be top quality resolution footage, they’re purely for evidential and recording purposes - identify the vehicle/s and people involved sufficiently that it adds to the case being proposed. If you want top quality footage as a dashcam, then I’m afraid at the moment you’d need to pay substantially more and the cameras would be significantly bigger👍

Yhat might be because he mounted the camera in direct line of sight with the headlight. If you mount to the side the retroreflective signs won’t bounce back straight into the camera. “Might”. It’s a thought that needs to be verified. I’ll mount mine under my mirror which is offset from my headlights. Might obscure a small angle but i should see everything on approach anyway.
In the States, mounting on the left mirror is best since it can show everyone who does an overtake manoeuvre without obscuring anything. I have a fully faired bike so the wing mirrors are covered.
I think this is the system for me. I've no interest in the Chigee, or the Innovv system with the integrated screen - I have a Zumo XT2, and I really like having a discrete, self-contained gps. Plus, I have Carplay in my car, and if the lightning connection gets jiggled at all, I have to reconnect it. Too much of a faff for me. I want each component to do its job well more than I want integration.
Is the max loop time 5 minutes? If you have an accident, many things could mean you can’t stop the recording and any evidence is overwritten by you laying in a ditch! If it can take a 512GB card, you should be about to set this to an hour+, or when the card is full.
No don’t worry, a 512gb card will take over 20 HOURS of continuous footage before it starts to overwrite the first 1min segment! Plus if you’ve been involved in an accident, the G-sensor in the DVR will detect it and automatically write-protect the relevant segment/segments
Aye but they’re dashcams, not action cameras - they’re designed to record any incidents like crashes, shunts etc, not finite details or in cinematic-type quality

No it connected fine - took a minute or two the first time I connected, but after that it’s been fine
