I am running the latest version of KSP (as of 14-Nov-2020). I had to use the "Kopernicus: Bleeding Edge" rather than the normal version of that mod to get things to work properly.
I play a lot of KSP in career mode, so I'm always taking tourist contracts for the money, and a mün-minmus trip is a must on those or you'll find yourself launching 2-3 times the same tourist just to complete the contract... Of course once you have infrastructure in orbit it's a lot cheaper to do... I have a tourist transport vessel the size of a building, reusable landers and mining colonies on both moons... and of course a fleet of passenger SSTOs... I simply love this game...
Tourism contracts are boring as hell, but once you're in a position to complete full itineraries for a dozen or more tourists in one mission with reusable spacecraft, they become a lot more interesting and lucrative. :) I always get amused by the thought of many Kerbals tourists receiving the special surprise announcement that even though they only paid to go to the Mun, they're about to do that plus land on Minmus plus orbit around the sun before coming home again. He has yet to use a part or gameplay mod, which would definitely be a significant milestone for his KSP videos if he does it regularly. Just a question, how hard is it for the computer when using RangeExtender ? Cause I guess it will give much work for the CPU to process all the crafts in the game, right ?
Just want to say Matt I 100% agree with your "clipping the science can" arguments! It's a laboratory and fits there very well! I also like how you included its roundness into the side of the lander. All good!
6:18 Only the Apollo 8, 10 and 11 missions used a free return trajectory, so depending on which mission you look at, you are following a similar mission plan to Apollo.

Update if you're watching this video in or beyond 2021, the tesselations now have collisions! it's really cool to see in-game and kind of forces you to drive rovers and buggies at semi-realistic speeds (they can be turned off if you prefer bombing along at high speed though)
I feel your pain where the size of the science Jr is concerned, this is why one of my 'must have' mods is the MSP-3000 Material Science Pod. It reduces the experiment to the same size/shape as the mystery goo.
Tesselation means subdividing the geometry (and normally, using a height map to displace the vertices up and down). This is a different approach, it's parallax mapping. Basically, you have several layers stacked on top of the geometry with some transparency (I'm oversimplificating). Think about those videos were an artist paint a golden fish on bucket with resin. There is a paint layer, a resin layer, another paint layer and so on. That's why it looks you are floating over the floor, it's because it is, in fact, flat.
Do a lunar return rover with this texture pack: sample some lunar stuff, send a rover to recover the ‘sample tubes’ and send a tiny rocket to take the samples from the 2nd rover and yoinks them into kerbin
Realistic part clipping is fine. I'd say that science jr module was clipped pretty realistically. I'd imagine for this mission, the lander can was made especially for the inclusion of the science jr.
I've had this glitch with the disappearing surface experiments. IIRC They will reappear if you board a vessel that has a storage container with space. It'll appear in there.
Thank you for that. The last time it happened to me I was fortunate enough to have a recent quicksave to load, but I thought I lost the experiment otherwise.
The glitch with the deployed science has happened to me many times. Switch kerbals and back usually gets it back. Might take a few times back and forth.
Im so glad they're gonna add a 5th thruster for rcs ports. I used to have to add the other port that points outward, on the side of spaceplanes but now two rcs ports should do the trick.

Totally agree about the science Jr part. And I have done the same. I feel like that clip isn't an unreasonable one. It's not like your clipping 4 fuel tanks into one, or a nuclear engine into a whiplash engine.
Quick advice: have you considered to put rover wheels on robotic arms and extend them after landing? I found that a spider-like rover is less likely to turn over or crash.
