For me it's a game changer, i'm currently overhauling existing craft without having to crash them, also i decommissioned old craft by attaching chutes and splashing them in the sea, zero fund loss
That was awesome Matt, I really liked it. I do really like how you preserved the space station look to it, to me it stands out as it legit looks like a space station that is for some reason on the ground now.
Matt, I'm so glad you've finally returned to your original content. After all, the whiskey reviews were what led to the great and well earned success of your channel. Happy 2021!
Pro tip: The black command module was a corrupt texture file. It actually wasn't a lighting glitch. As far as the game is concerned, without a texture there is no surface to light. It was visible for about 1 second after the fairings fell away. As you lose parts of the rocket the texture manager in the game moves textures around in memory in an attempt to keep memory use to a minimum. If the space for textures is (nearly) maxed out these little memory shuffles can fail and the texture data in memory becomes corrupt. If you have control over your graphics card memory allocation, increase it if this happens often. If not, make it a habit to reboot your system before recording. Windows hangs on to memory that was used by programs you run and close. It's actually sloppy programing that a program closes and does not release asset memory, but it's common. This Windows "reserved" memory can interfere with the memory required to hold all the texture packs you run with this game. I work in 3D modeling and animation and this happens to me if I haven't rebooted my system for a few days.
This goes to show that this man really is one of the best KSP players. Man, someone should make a KSP tournament to see who can land on Luna / The Mun the fastest, or who can build the best space station in the least time. I think we all know who would win ;)
Matt, your videos inspired me to build my first space station. I’m building an orbital refueling and payload storage station for long distance flights. Love your content!
I tend to use TCA for my thrust adjustments automaticaly so i can focus on getting where i need to. A great tool when moving large objects or multiple crafts docked together.
3:17 It's not a glitch, the spherical capsules turn black when their ablator burns off. If you remove all of their ablator before launch, they turn black immediately when they're in contact with the atmosphere and moving relatively fast (which you can see in the video when the fairing opens). Edit: Noticed that he put a heat shield under the capsule - you don't need that, the capsule is a heat shield by itself!
Hey if you like bourbon, I’m from Versailles, Ky and live about 5 minutes away from Woodford Reserve Distillery. I whole heartedly recommend Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. It’s expensive but it’s knock your socks off good.
My favorite microstation now a microbase! Awesome! The new system for building by Kerbals just changes the game entirely, ngl. I had to add: "Not a real Kerbal video without an explosion" - classic.
"Just give me a barrel, that would be good for about a month right?" A couple seconds later... "That's the surface base by the way. Sorta rushed past everything else..." Matt, Your the best :)
Indeed, sir! Great ideas! And, I have been thinking, even that most of it could already be done using mods, now you could revisit/rebuild those gigantic spinning stations of yours, the one which used to give you some rumbling issues, and beef´em up using EVA installed struts! Cheers!
Oh Nice! I’ve always been trying to take a space station and land it on the Moon and Mars in Orbiter Space Flight Simulator. It’s cool 😎 to see it done in Kerbal.
3:40, Matt, the pod is black because all the ablator on it has "burned away". its a glitch that has screwed me over countless times, however it can be avoided by draining all the ablator in the VAB. unfortunately, you cannot reenter kerbin in the same pod as ive observed
This is my favorite space station that you’ve made. Do you mind updating the video you made it in with an craft file? (I’m the person who noticed the mistake about Venus on your last video)
Matt, you careless thingy, you could have used the Tug so gain seismic science (unless you maxxed out seismic science on Minmus already from your previous surface instruments?) having lots of fuel for that kind of thing isn't bad since the data is more important if the craft crashes faster. So going to Orbit, chose an impact point and thrust towards it vertically the quickest possible would grant you much seismic data, might even be enough to have all data in one impact if caft is heavy enough and crashes not too far from the seismometer. Oh and that infrared telescope pointing at the ground looks absolutely fine, doesn't it?
