- Recently I came across an exclusive Minecraft gaming laptop and couldn't help but wonder if it was actually powerful enough to handle the very game it is designed around. Let's unbox it and see what it can do!

They are fairly new tho. I've got the N5000 one, wich is better than the N4200 since its a quad core.
It really shines at battery consumption, my Acer Swift 3 can last up to 20 Hours.
And it doesnt have a single fan, perfect machine for writing code , media and other lightweight stuff.
Because of the economy of Turkey I hear that name a lot.

the fact that the official minecraft gaming laptop cant even run the more lightweight bedrock version of the game at high settings is kind of sad.
most 300 dollar laptops can barely run their browsers so this is definitely a worthwhile purchase

..i mean seriously, the demo for that game apparently brought even the 2080Ti to it's knees in some parts (or so i've heard).
A 100 or so mods usually fixes it with 4gb ram it could even launch most modpacks

Well I already spent a lot of money on Consoles and really like playing the Bedrock versions on there but Java just has much more freedom

So the laptop comes with a free copy of the windows edition, but as per request of a few comments I have tested the Java edition too. From what I’ve seen the performance differences are negligible average frame rate wise, but the java edition has more dips (edited after further testing)

I was just about to type a comment about Java Edition. Bedrock Edition runs on almost anything
even though bedrock edition is written in C++ and provides quite a difference on better hardware?
Bedrock edition (included version/mobile/console) runs much better but java edition is less buggy and has a few extremely important features that are absent on bedrock. I think bedrock is supposed to use multiple cores and be a lot lighter to run in general.
Have you tested only vanilla, OptiFine, or perhaps the recently released Sodium mod? Sodium is supposedly one of the greatest FPS booster mods right now, so you should try it.
For how tight it sticks to 60 fps without ever going over it it seems the integrated limiter was enabled.
And Fallout ran about as good as a friend with his old Athlon 64 X2 4400+/HD 6450 combo

Aww. Missed opportunity to try MC:Java Edition to see if it can “truly” handle Minecraft. MC:Bedrock will run on any potato since it’s really just a complete MCPE.

Yeah to be fair I may have actually gone through and bought this if it was showed to run Java, however since Java is more demanding I’m gonna guess it doesn’t, therefore I’m not going to waste my time with this laptop.

i remember playing minecraft on a 500$ laptop in 2012 and it ran minecraft on all low settings 720p at about 15fps, and my god did i love that game
Make me remember playing it on a celeron laptop too, the laptop doesn’t have a mouse so i just use the trackpad, somehow it was enjoyable, now i could play it on my iPad but i always like the Java version more

@@ohe69_ for 500$ i could get a mid range computer that have a ryzen 3 3100 with a gtx 1050 ti lol, i might get that one next year but not sure yet, it could easily run minecraft java at 200 fps and triple A title will run with at least 30 fps on high setting, the price might drop some bit next year too

This runs so much better than the PC I used in high school a few years ago. It ran minecraft at maybe 24 fps all lowest settings, but I'd really push it and try to play Skyrim on it. I used every config setting and mod to make it as easy to run as possible, and wound up playing it at 20fps, which made the whole Tablet extremely hot (it was painful to touch the screen) and it routinely crashed every 30 minutes, and by God's beard I loved it

Can confirm, used to have a cheap laptop with 32gb eMMC and I couldn't update if I ever installed anything. Sometimes I couldn't even clear it out and start fresh because there wasn't enough storage.
Solution: Linux.
I installed Manjaro on my HP Stream, but Mint is also popular.
@@elsasslotharingen7507 Sometimes you can't do that. Back when I still had the cheap laptop I tried to install linux on it, and it wouldn't work no matter how hard I tried. Once linux didn't work I tried to re install windows, and that didn't work either. I guess some manufactures make it so you can't install a new os.

I got a laptop that runs bedrock phenomenally, but literally Chugs like Ola Englund in his "Will it Chug?" Series when playing java edition. Thank God I have a built tower now.

One thing to note, is that this game is running Bedrock edition, which can run on any potato with windows 10. Also with Bedrock Edition it caps to 60fps by default, little bit of googling and you can find out how easy it is to remove the 60fps cap, you have edit the options.txt file which is pretty hidden, sadly you cannot do this within the game settings.
Java edition would've run around 60 fps too i'd guess, maybe around 40, still pretty good.
bedrock isn't technically capped at 60fps. it simply forces vsync so it is locked to your refresh rate, hence why i get 144fps in bedrock minecraft
there are texture packs that unlock those secret settings such as vsync and fps limiter slider
Those specs are horrible. I never understand why someone would spend that much on such a low-end computer

New Vegas will stutter occasionally, even on high end hardware. I think installing the 4GB patch alleviates those kind of issues, but I haven't tried it.

plus, some unoptimized games can be fixed usually with some tweaks. GTA 4 can be made to run well on modern hardware if you turn down view distance, detail distance, and grab DXVK off github.

By the way the "Minecraft" that was on the box was the Bedrock version of Minecraft not the Java version. The Bedrock version is more optimised and probably will run pretty well with max graphics.
Nah BE edition had alot of bugs and weird mechanics, i play with my phone and i setting it on lower settup and still get around 15-20fps

In this price range I feel like it would be better getting a Ryzen 3 3200U/Ryzen 3 4300U laptop (You can find one on Currys for £349)

Btw I have the Lenovo s145 with amd ryzen 3 3200u,and I bought it at 300$usd.

I can barely play Bedrock with 1GB of RAM + 1.4ghz MAX clocked Qualcomm CPU (some model of 7-inch Kindle Fire), as every menu is extremely unresponsive. I'm surprised Microsoft hasn't discontinued 1GB of RAM devices for Bedrock.

it mightve been different if you ran java edition instead of bedrock edition, java is the better version but it is more demanding than bedrock
Theres also the fact that there is a 60fps cap on Bedrock edition, unless you edit a vsync value in the options.txt file
For single player survival there is no difference between those two, but if you want to do something else than just mineing diamonds or play with your console friends, then java is for you. But yes, java version is more demanding than bedrock.

@@rixuuu I don't think vanilla Java multiplayer has anything more than Bedrock offers. I would say it's easier to connect to another friend's world on Bedrock, either open the game to LAN or send invites, then you see the game in the Friends list. On Java I never got the local game detection to work at all.

my cheap laptop thats like 20 bucks on ebay right now i believe, can run it at like 20-50 fps when above ground, and 50-90 when below ground, downloading optifine or sodium gives a HUGE boost. Sodium gives a much bigger fps boost, and optifine adds more features.
I really enjoy the idea of this, except for the fact that it runs Bedrock instead of Java, as well as Windows 10S

Awesome review. A little update for you! Not easy finding any info on this outside of the store details. I just got one of these, but an all grey one. And with a bit faster cpu and gpu. I'm just going to use it for traveling, because of it's slimness, weight and the fact that it only needs my 65w USB-C phone-charger to charge. The whole thing looks kinda like a expensive laptop, but it's all plastic. And if you lift it by one of the edges, it feels like it's going to break. But I only paid £150 on sale, so I can't really complaine too much.
I deactivated the S part and downloaded Win11 for free at once. After deleting the remains of Win10 and it's files, I ended up with 32 GB of free space on the 64 GB drive. I think that is pretty good. That is after downloading all apps I need. I testet it on TH-cam in 2160p 30fps and it worked fine, very well actually. I tried it on 1080p 60fps and it didn't do well at all on that one. Also tried basic 4K on Netflix, it worked smooth as well. I also tried 1080p Hevc (x265) file, a typical tv-show file and it worked well. But it seems the grafic has some issues showing that smooth quality. It turned out kinda lifeless in the colors and almost looks like one of those old XviD files or a 480p file. It might be better on other files. We'll see.
Anyways, it seems to be running smooth. It gets very hot when charging and being used at the same time. It took a long time updating and deleting it all. I think about 5-6 hours total. It's not like my gaming desktop, that would have done the same job in 35 minutes.
I opned the little box on the backside. It looks like it's ready for an M.2 card (harddisk) SSD. But I don't know what would be the max. I also suspect the ram is soldered directly on the motherboard. So I wouldn't expect to be upgrading that any time soon. That's a shame. When watching video in 4K on Netflix/TH-cam and using Utorrent at a 150mbps speed it was using about 80% of the 4 GB memory.
But taking the price in consideration, this is a winner. For my use, traveling with only a bag on my back, it's perfect for just watching and downloading movies and using for emails and such. I'm happy with it. But it feels cheap and it is cheap. It runns very good with Win11 and all useless apps removed at startup. Cheers :)
I forgot to add that I also got a 128 GB EVO 4K memory card fior it. It works perfect. And I got it on sale for only £12. Perfect when you want to download a bit and you may move them to the card. 160mbps speed. Not bad :)
