Glad you are feeling better. I don't see a lot of those Intek engines on push mowers. That crank is way bent, the seal is already toast. I would be inclined to replace the crankshaft, and the bottom seal, pretty cheap parts, a few hours of your time. If the owner doesn't want to spend the $$, the vibration will eventually wallow out every bolt on the deck, handles, engine, and crumble into a mess.

You needed to remove that extra plate that was behind the blade. Then you will be striking the actual crankshaft on its own. Even though I've read that someone said that's not advisable in case you weaken the metal it can snap off. I'm a little bit hesitant now to try hammering that part.

What makes you think crank is bent? First thing I would check is for partially sheared flywheel key. Not sheared completely, since it does start. Partial for engines that won't stay running, causing pre or post TDC ignition. If in fact crank is bent, no remedy except a replacement. Sorry!

And the longer the pipe, the more leverage.
How did you hurt your back?
I have been fighting back pain for a good year and was doing well. I just lifted too much one day and herniated a disc.
