The child should stay in school. If the present school is inadequate, transfer him to a high quality school which will provide a one-on-one or a smaller ratio of teacher to student teaching. Give him a chance to find his strengths in life. If you love your child, let him soar!

Just wanna thank the Ramsey Team! Last July my husband and I had .54c in our bank account, no savings, and & $7000 in debt. Since Ramsey, we got a reality check. We paid off our debt in January, have now $4000 in savings, set up our kids private school sinking fund, and are well on our way to completing baby step 3. Last week our dryer died after 15years! We were able to say ‘oh well, let’s get a new one from our emergency fund’. It was a great feeling not freaking out thinking how are we gonna pay for this. We didn’t have to borrow money for the first time in our lives!!
We are for the first time on the same page. I got a second job and increased household income by $40,000!!
We are motivated, and grateful. Thank you for all that you do, and for God who had me stumble over Dave’s testimony, to find you guys. Love from Lisa in Australia 🇦🇺

Even in Australia when you're upside down now you can still get sick and tired of being sick and tired! Inspirational story! Your debt free! But you can work hard but still make time for your family. Don't just leave them money, leave them memories!

Jordan, do not Ever let anyone stand on your dreams - not even the Ramsey people! My husband and I retired from our first careers at 55 and pursued other paths that challenged us. I became a realtor. Please know that there are all kinds of soft-spoken realtors; not everyone is a garrulous “people person” and on fire at every moment. You will attract the right people into your life if you listen to your own instincts. You will need to get into the habit of doing that. Every single realtor starts in the same place: With a listing. You will do the same, if you stay authentically You and not try to be anyone else. Clear up that debt, though! You can do all of this! 🎉

Couldn’t agree more. There are times we need to be stern with our advice, but times that require optimism and speaking life into people. I’m rooting for Jordan and hoping the character assessment of these folks doesn’t deter him from at least trying.

We just replaced our HVAC for $8500. That's one unit for our 3500sq ft house. (Our upstairs unit is newer). The one we just replaced was 20 years old. That salesman is trying to get you. He quoted us three different units - the higher one being $16k. We went with the budget one and it's meeting our needs. We also put a few "bandaids" on our HVAC to make it last until it died. 😂

Gen Z is not the first generation to run into this problem. The first "home" I had after graduating from college was a room at the YWCA! (Do they even still have those?) I very quickly got sick of that (after a roommate robbed me) and got a place by myself but in order to pay for the safety of having my own place I ended up working THREE jobs and that continued until they changed my schedule and I was supposed to be working two places at the same time and obviously I had to drop one. But I kept the second job. We didn't call them "side hustles" back then. I just had a part-time job.
This continued for two years until I finally got a job in the field I had trained for and made enough money to only work only one job. So again, Gen Z is not the first generation to have difficulty finding the job for which they trained or difficulty in affording a place to live. I think I had an advantage over Gen Z though because I sort of was prepared to face some lean years when I first got out of college. I did not expect to land a fabulous job on Mahogany Row and live in a high-rise with a million-dollar view. I suspect that some members of Gen Z MAY have expectations that are a bit too high.

i’m watching this episode a week later but to comment in regards to GenZ and not being able to pay rent, I have always lived in Southern California and our cost-of-living has always been higher then other parts of the country. I agree with doing the side hustle having an extra job, but the other thing is get a roommate, even when I got out of college - up until I got married. I always had a roommate because I didn’t want to pay so much for rent, ( wasting money). because what I could afford would be a bad part of town, and in Orange County I would want to live in a nice neighborhood or near the beach, etc. so I’ve always had one or two roommates / split the rent - and it was always affordable,

He has created something they have not, I know of several Billionaire children that work with their parents from a young age. 100 years ago 12 & 13 year olds were officers in the royal navy. 3 of our founding fathers were 21 or younger in 1776. Our traditional school system creates mediocre children at best. I like where your head is and you know what’s best for your children.

I don't know, it does seem to be a shame that people have to have 2-3 jobs and roommates to make it work. Sort of makes life not as good, imo. Something has to give somewhere. Average income going up or prices coming down. Working all the time causes people to give up and not do anything, or get really angry, which I see a lot.

Take him out and let him start making money. The fact that you're parents that support your kid, he already has a nice life set up for him. To the first caller- I actually had a friend in high school whose family had a super successful business. So while everyone was looking at colleges and preparing for the next phase she would say she is just gonna work for her parent/ run the business. I moved cities in my 20s and when we talked at 25 she vented about how she wished she got to live her life. That all she knew was her parents business. She was grateful for everything but wished she would’ve moved away and did more for herself than be under them. Even then she still didn’t want to disappoint her parents and tell them how she felt. 🫤
