    Love India from Romania!
The stupid and malicious people controlling the media only show old pictures of dirty places in India, without providing updates with the improvement of the situation, as in this video!
I am sure that India WILL become a developed country during my lifetime only!

Only in some areas of Ganga this cleaning is done. Create awareness to people is the key along with government cooperation. Putting flowers, lighting oil lamp , dumping half de** bodies , industrial waste, pooping on side of the riverbed etc.. all have to be stopped.
We proudly call Ganga ma, Ganga devi etc.. We call the river as goddess but treat rivers like SH*T . On the other hand countries which don't consider rivers as goddess maintain it very clean.

So far, the only countries I have experienced cleanliness is Singapore, and the Gulf countries. I used to excuse India wondering how does one clean up public spaces in India. I think it is from the grass roots _ segregation of bins _ food, human (excretion be it pads, pampers, tissues, vomit bags, animal poo), soil& garden waste, plastics, glasses. Literally 7 individual bins. It saves humans in India having to touch anything to sort out. 2nd. Would be to have a class once a month on hygiene not just for home but for public areas _ waterways, transport, hospitals, schools. Living in so called advanced countries with one tenth the population makes you realise people are lazy and don't care about filth. What would these so called advanced countries be in ten or fifteen years if they don't pill up their sock. Ganga clean up could be cleaned up with much greater speed as Indians have an affinity with religion. I hear in West Bengal where every nook and cranny is spat or piddled on, some have come up with the novel idea of putting SACRED Tiles to deter these pesky idiots. Maybe that could be a good advertisement _ God's won't be happy us littering by being negligent. The ad campaigns in India were the best so someone can definitely think of a jingle too to clean up our Bharat.

There are several sources and reports that have highlighted the shortcomings and challenges faced by the Namami Gange project. Here are some key references:
Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) Report: A report by the CAG in 2017 criticized the slow pace of implementation and utilization of funds under the Namami Gange project. The report highlighted issues like delayed projects, non-utilization of allocated funds, and inefficiencies in planning and execution【source: Comptroller and Auditor General of India (2017)】.
National Green Tribunal (NGT) Observations: The NGT has repeatedly expressed concerns over the ineffectiveness of the Namami Gange project. In 2019, the NGT noted that despite the substantial funds allocated, there was little evidence of improvement in the condition of the river【source: National Green Tribunal (2019)】.
Parliamentary Standing Committee Report: In 2018, a report by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Water Resources pointed out that the Namami Gange project had failed to achieve its objectives. The committee highlighted issues such as inadequate sewage treatment infrastructure and lack of coordination between various implementing agencies【source: Parliamentary Standing Committee on Water Resources (2018)】.
World Bank Evaluation: The World Bank, which provided financial assistance to the Namami Gange project, also raised concerns in its assessments. It noted that while there were some positive developments, the overall progress was slower than expected and many targets remained unmet【source: World Bank (2020)】.
Independent Studies and Articles: Various independent studies and journalistic investigations have also pointed out the gaps and failures in the project. For example, a 2019 article in The Hindu detailed the lack of significant improvement in water quality and ongoing pollution issues despite the efforts under the Namami Gange project【source: The Hindu (2019)】.
These reports and evaluations collectively indicate that while the Namami Gange project had ambitious goals and substantial funding, its execution and effectiveness were hampered by several challenges, leading to less-than-expected outcomes.

What is the point? Assuming 80% of people are committed to cleanliness and hygiene, that's 20% of the people that don't care. In India's case, this is almost 300 million people (nearly the population of the US), more than enough to trash the country. This is the issue with overpopulation. All problems are amplified to the extreme by a large minority (in volume, but not in share) who don't care.
