    Thanks for posting. What I had read is that you need to replace the hose and the tank to stop the leak at about $150, plus my time. I ordered from Pegasus for $43 with shipping. Thanks for sharing!

    I just completed the repair in about 30 minutes. The key is to soak the hose in hot hot water. It will slip on the reservoir nipple without a lot of drama. It also helps to remove the air intake duct work. I also did not have to trim the silicone hose. 2012 5.0.

    • @jspencernado6228

      Bob Cowan great tip! I had heard someone say to put it in a low oven for a little while but a hot water soak would definitely be more efficient to loosen up the hose. I felt like the replacement hose would have fit without trimming but I would’ve been wedging it in there and it would cause extra stress on the joints. Glad it worked so easily for you

    Just ordered from Pegasus racing and will be putting it on when I get it. Ford should have recalled this hose connection.

    In that hose there is a o ring...same as the upper radhose. There are o rings in these connectors all you need to do is replace them... if not wanting to chop up your truck. Like 2$ per ring.
    The rings flattened out and leak when pressure is dropped while cooling down.

    • @mattf8629
      @mattf8629 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The problem is the plastic neck warps and deforms. Once that happens putting new o-rings in it will not make it seal up. This kit is the only way to repair it properly.

    I just had my dealer replace the hose and water tank. $1000 later but i have an extended warranty on my 2014 so only $50 out of my pocket.. I asked for the old parts back to see what the issue was but both the hose and tank look fine.. What baffles me is why can't somebody just put some high heat silicone in the connection and re-install. Anyone try that? Dealer charged 3 hours to do it and looks like they forgot to reinstall my hood switch and did a crap job installing the air ducting. Any dealer mechanics reading? FYI dealer mechanic we go to you because you are supposed to be the best.. my dealership (Chilliwack ford) sucks balls and will get an ear full tomorrow.

    Great Video! I had a similar issue, however, upon my investigations it appears to be an O ring that is the root cause of my "leak" . Furthermore, it appears your fix does address the accessibility and functionality of Ford's piss poor design.
    Ford wanted to charge me $330 for parts and labor (wanting to replace the entire upper hose assembly). I took the hose off at the tank and found that the O ring was flattened and had minor cracks. Got the O ring cheap and cleared up my issue in a blink of an eye.

    Great video! I had this exact same issue with this crappy hose connector. Bought a brand new replacement hose online and it still leaked! WTF! tried buying a replecement O-ring that was a little thicker but that also did not fix the problem. I also bought a connector and hose clapms as a back up and planned to cut the elbow off of the old hose and make a connector just like the one in the video. Only thing is the rubber hose will only fit on the bottom end of the connector. I bought the Pegasus kit like you did and will replace it when I get it. I don't trust the connection as is but it is not leaking and has not budged under pressure and heat so far. Hats off to Pegasus Racing for selling this kit. Now if they can only fix fords Warped rotor problem.

      One clamp connects the new hose to the bottom of the coolant tank. That was a pretty tight fit trying they the hose onto the outlet spout so if that’s where the hose came loose you might try heating up the hose or lubricating it to get it to go on more easily. Then secure the clamp really well.

      Even with replacement rings they can continue to leak. I actually purchased a brand new hose with rings when the original went bad. And sure enough it leaked from the moment installed. The whole hosing the o-rings sit in is a design flaw. Complete junk.
