I was denied surgery. My A1C was 9.4, I got it down to 8.1 in 4 weeks. They want it down to a 5. I was so disappointed at first. But I’m sticking with my keto diet, and should have the surgery in 3 months. Keeping my fingers crossed😢😊

If diabetic is reversed? And a1c is normal then ...

It all depends on how long you have had diabetes. For example if you had gestational diabetes during pregnancy and then it goes away, that would not affect your blood vessels much. However if you have had diabetes since you where a child then there would most likely be damage to the blood vessels. It would have to be assessed by the surgeon that you see.

If you have well controlled diabetes that is good. The damage to your blood vessels from diabetes does not completely resolve and you would still be at a higher risk having a tummy tuck. The risk is difficult to assess without an individual consultation. Sincerely Dr Beldholm

      nini,
This will be completely up to the surgeon that you choose. Liposuction is usually low risk and should be OK with diabetes as long as it is well controlled and you are done in a proper hospital. BBL is a high risk operation that I personally do not perform. Tummy tuck surgery relies on your blood supply. Diabetes has a major impact on heeling and blood supply and therefor makes a tummy tuck much more risky. I would be reluctant to do a tummy tuck in a diabetic patient.
      Hope this helps

TYPE 1 DIABETES ,REMOVAL OF LIPOHYPERTROPHY WHICH IS IMPEDING MY USE OF INSULIN. I'AM GOING TO DIE A SLOW PAINFUL DEATH ( THIS PATH HAS ALREADY BEGUN)WITHOUT THIS SURGERY. Do you know any competent surgeons in PA TO HANDLE THIS OPERATION . WHY IS THIS SO SECRETIVE? WHY DOES NO ONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE PROCEDURE ?
