Great reaction. FYI: this was my most listened album for the last two years on Spotify. I just call it THE ELIXIR. It just has unparalleled ability to cure the soul, when necessary.
Phenomenal album, very spiritual experience. A very bittersweet experience for me also, it makes me feel like I've lived a selfish life, only worried about myself. I have no idea why. It feels like this is Sander's last message to the world, one final piece of his legacy. It makes me wonder - when I'm gone, what will my legacy be? Will I have touched others lives? I don't feel like I have yet. Strange experience -beautiful, and sad.
My first listen of this album was weird : I liked what I was hearing but I wasn't "moved" that deeply by it... After a few months I thought about this album again and quickly realized on the 2nd listen that my first experience was a blatant case of my brain not understanding how unfathomably great this album is... But on the 2nd time, I was ready. Now it's in my top 3 favorite albums of all time and I can't listen to movement 6 without having goosebumps all the way through, a big dumb smile on my face... I'm 22 and I feel blessed to having been exposed to such a masterpiece when most men of my generation only listen to bland, talentless, commercial songs... Glad you love it !
This is such a beautiful album. I remember seeing Floating Points live back in 2016, as a supporting act. My initial impression was enjoyment with a hint of confusion. Researching more into Sam Shepherd’s work and his background [PhD in Neuroscience and Epigenetics] it all starts to come together in how this man can compose such moving art. Glad you enjoyed the experience! I researched
Amazing album. Recently I've been lamenting how I don't feel as "spiritual" in my day to day life, compared to how I felt as a kid huffing down psychedelic drugs every weekend. I didn't want to turn back to drugs to get that spiritual atmosphere in my life, but this album really did it for me. It sends me directly into that transcendental headspace I've been craving. 10/10, Pharaoh Sanders is a king.
I gotta start catching the live streams, I recently found the channel and binged a bunch of your record reactions. You seem like a sound dude, if your stream times line up decently with my UK self I'll cya there.
Best place for music nerds to gather communally and share our appreciation for music, and almost as important: to discover music you didn’t know you needed in life!
@@VinylJunkies666 does the sleeve have anything to do with this. I noticed the gatefold doesn’t stay closed, and the sleeve where the record goes is warped the way that the wax is. Great album otherwise.
Movement 6 had me sobbing in my hands.
Great reaction.
