  • This set of variations consists of the theme, four variations, and a closing chorale treatment of the hymn tune known as Tallis's Canon. It is dedicated to Sarah MacDonald and is published in the latest volume of Oxford Hymn Preludes for Organists (Volume 9: General), published in early May 2024, in which this piece is published. There is a clear nod to the compositional style of J S Bach, and the composer's registrations suit the Silbermann sample perfectly hence this recording was made on a Johannus AGO Live III on the sample of the SIlbermann organ in the Katholische Hofkirche Dresden. Samples have four positions, Console, Front, Centre, or Rear of church. This was recorded using the Rear sample, highlighting the more than generous acoustic in the Hofkirche.
