Dr. Edwin Hawkins has been a true catapult to contemporary gospel music..Oh Happy Day is UNIVERSAL..that song has been carried around the world and the message is so simple but yet soo profound "oh happy day oh happy day when Jesus washed, when Jesus washed, when Jesus washed, He washed my sins away. Thank God for Dr. Hawkins..thank God for Jesus

This is FABULOUS! I was a young musician of age 8-9 when I learned Dr Edwin's Arrangement of "O Happy Day" of which was a Contemporary Gospel Song then. I also appreciate the Church of God in Christ history Dr Edwin gives regarding the Northern California State Youth Choir. I am also glad he gave some of the trivia regarding Walter's part (playing the organ on the Choir's recording, etc). Hawkins represent ROYALTY of GOSPEL MUSIC! =)

I was a little boy in Delco, North Carolina when "O Happy Day" came out - I would run up to the piano and practice that song after church was over... The Lord blessed me in 2002 to record my song "Love You" with the Edwin Hawkins Seminar... my dreams were fulfilled that year...

There is a soft veil over gospel music today with the passing of Edwin Hawkins. His career spanned more than 6 decades and he was one of the last male gospel luminaries that seamlessly linked the best of gospel's rich recent history with its best present offerings. His well acknowledged "Oh Happy Day" to the vast public domain of iconic gospel songs has been song by choirs the world over and his Music and Arts Seminar series gave public attention to some of the best singers, writers, producers and directors that the world has ever seen. His collaborations with established artists are also well documented. An exceptional musician, choir director and spokesman for black gospel music, Edwin earned his title of Father of CONTEMPORARY Gospel for his work to refine gospel music and help it to tastefully grow beyond traditional gospel circles and churches. God's exceptional irony should not go unnoticed this day. On an occasion given to the leadership of an articulate pastor whose reminder of church leadership in bringing social change in Dr. Martin Luther King on King Day, it is worth noting Edwin’s music and yes that of his family -- Walter, Lynette, Daniel, Carol, Feddie, Gloria, cousin Shirley Miller and sister in law Tramaine --must be credited with delivering a little social change as well. I have no doubt that those who know of his music's feel a great deal of appreciation to the faith basic sounds that have impacted so many over the years!

I can see a direct link between the Edwin Hawkins singers of 1968 and the group Foreigner with it's 1984 song "I Want to know What Love Is". They were backed up by the New Jersey Mass choir on that one. There is just something about blending that many voices together. It's like the difference between listening to a piano versus a pipe organ, with one you're just listening to music but with the other the whole room vibrates.

@rebarenee7 This was long before your time if you are in your 40's. However, many pentacostal churches were more inclined to sing this type of music. Members of other churches looked down their noses at the pentacostal churches, to a great extent. I am so glad that my mother taught us to appreciate gospel music, when even our pastor did not fully appreicate it. But, we had a very sound music ministry. So we sang all types of sacred music:anthems, spirituals, modern sacred and gospel.

I will pray for your praise ministry and the brethren gathered here, beloved Saint. Jesus sang praises with His disciples at His last supper before He was crucified. Matt. chapter 26:verses 26-30; Psalms 113-118. *There is a Crown in Heaven awaiting all who faithfully share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and a soul is saved. ( "THE GOSPEL SAVES" below) 1 Thessalonians chapter 2:verse 19-20; Philippians chapter 4:verse 1. So too be Rapture ready to meet Jesus Christ in the air. "Maranatha!" meaning "HE COMES". The Apostles and saints greeted one another that way.! John chapter 14: verse 1-3; Titus chapter 2:verses 11 -14; Rev.chapter 3:verse 10; 1 Thessalonians chapter 5:verse 9 . This beautiful crown awaits us. 1 Peter chapter 5: verse 4; 2 Timothy chapter 4:verse 8
This praise resounds across the earth: "Jesus is Lord and only He saves".
2 Samuel chapter 22: Verse 50 "Therefore I will praise you, O Lord, out of the countries, and I will praise your name."
    THE GOSPEL SAVES!
God the Son (Jesus Christ) has given us the gospel to share with the world.
Mark chapter 16: Verse 15: And He said unto them, Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
How can anyone hear the "good" news? Romans chapter 10: verse 17 Then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Isaiah chapter 7: verse 14: "Therefore the LORD shall give you a sign; behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and call His name Immanuel." Hebrew: עִמָּנוּאֵל, "God with us" in human flesh but without sin. The Savior of the world was born to die for our sins! He did so 33 years later. His terrible ordeal; body mutilated; blood poured out, finally died and was placed in a tomb and rose from the dead the 3rd day ! "HE IS RISEN" Matthew chapter 28: verse 6 See also Matthew 1:18-25.
Isaiah chapter 53: verse 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. - IT IS FOUNDED UPON GOD'S LOVE FOR MAN AND WOMAN HE CREATED
John chapter 3: Verse 16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." Romans chapter 3: verse 23
" For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans chapter 6: verse 23
" Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by me.."John chapter 14.verse 6
"1 Corinthians chapter 15: verse 3 "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:"
THE PAYMENT BY HIS BLOOD FOR ALL SINS EVER!
And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 1 John chapter 2: verse 2
Romans chapter 5:verse 8 But God demonstrates his love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, now justified by his blood, we will be saved from wrath through him."
“For he (God) hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” 2 Corinthians chapter 5:verse 21.
" In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;." Ephesians chapter 1:verse 7
Matthew chapter 26:verse 28 "For this is my blood of the New Testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." (the life is in the blood. He had to pay with His life)
"And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness." Hebrews chapter 9:verse 22
BY GOD'S GRACE ALONE THROUGH FAITH ALONE IN JESUS CHRIST ARE WE SAVED
Ephesians chapter 2:verse 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 not of works, lest any man should boast.
Jesus died to pay the penalty for our sins and rescue us from eternal death. Because of Jesus' death on our behalf, all we have to do is believe in Him, trusting in His death and in the shedding of His blood as payment for our sins, as well as in His resurrection from the dead, and we will be saved! John chapter 20: verses 24-31
WHOSOEVER BELIEVES SHALL TESTIFY TO THE TRUTH
    Romans 10:
9 That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart man believes in righteousness; And a confession by mouth is given for salvation.
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
TO DIE IS TO REJECT SALVATION IN JESUS CHRIST AND BE SEPARATE FROM GOD FOREVERMORE
Salvation and forgiveness of sins is the blessing of anyone who believes in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Those who reject the free gift of salvation, see John chapter 3: verse 16 above, "perish", which means their sins are judged by God the Son and they suffer eternal separation from God and the family of God forever called the "second death". Revelation chapter 21: verse 8.
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. ”Romans chapter 5:verse 1
    THANK YOU!
Unlimited blessings await faithful saints! May God richly bless you, beloved. We are one in Christ sharing the Gospel. We are doing what the Lord asked of us before He went up. The Gospel we share here is recorded forever in His Book of Life. It is by His faith that we serve. His word is the truth which, if believed, sets a lost sinner free for His glory!

@@holydance4330 Transcribed From Trinity Broadcasting Network’s Praise The Lord Show:
Kenneth Copeland: "I was shocked when I found out who the biggest failure in the Bible actually is."
      Paul Crouch: "Okay."
Kenneth Copeland: "You know everybody you ask, you say, ‘Who’s the biggest failure?’ They say, ‘Judas.’ Somebody else will say, ‘No, I believe it was Adam.’ Well, how about the devil?"
      Paul Crouch: (Sound of amazement.)
Kenneth Copeland: "He’s the most consistent failure . . . but he’s not the biggest in terms of material failure and so forth. The biggest in the whole Bible is God. . . . Wait, wait. Don’t you turn that set off. You listen to us. I told you. . . . Now, you sit still a minute. You know me well enough to know I wouldn’t tell something I can’t prove by the Bible.
"He lost His top ranking of most anointed angel, the first man He ever created, the first woman He ever created, the whole earth and all the fullness therein, a third of the angels at least. That’s a big loss, man! I mean you figure up all of that, that’s a lot of real estate, gone down the drain.
"Now, the reason you don’t think of God as a failure, He never said He’s a failure. (Paul Crouch and others laughing on the set.) And you are not a failure until you say you are one."
Does The Bible Suggest That God Was A Failure?
Our Sovereign God created us in His image that we might bring honor and glory to Him and have eternal fellowship together. He desires our love and He wanted that love to be our choice. He wanted our obedience, but He wanted that obedience to be our choice. To suggest that God was a failure because Adam and Even made a sinful choice is ridiculous. It completely alters the entire biblical account of man’s fall, Satan’s fall, and the results that occurred. Our world would certainly be a different place if man had not sinned, but not for one moment was God ever a failure. The only failure was found in those that sinned. He never ceased to be the God of His universe or of the spiritual world where His will is forever being done.
The biblical account of the years that have transpired since the fall are filled with His story and the revelations that have never ceased to unfold. David made it clear who rules this Universe and it has never been the devil. His words speak volumes. "The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods. Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah." (Psalm 24:1-10)
You have the choice of believing Copeland and the Crouches or God and His true prophets. Reducing God is a constant theme of these diluted pundits (self-proclaimed authorities), but His majesty is undefeatable. The foolishness of this crowd gets worse.
