Those Double Dragon characters models are uggggly. They look like the old NES Mega Man mode. They could've keep the dwarf design but at least draw them to look nice like the Fight -N- Rage characters

In my experience, I don't think there will be anything as good and innovative in the beat'em up genre as Skinny & Franko: Fists Of Violence for a long, long time.

It is enough to know the combat system and know all the moves, and only then the game shows what it is. I posted some gameplay videos on my channel. Arcade mode is coming soon. This game is a real gem in this genre for me.

Cool. At a recent steam festival, I played the demo of another potentially good game - Arnold Bounty Hunter. It looks more like the first Battletoads - there are not only fights, but also various adventures with platforming, hydrocycles. It also looks interesting. I liked the demo.

I have been convincing myself that Toxic Crusaders had an actual beat them up arcade game since the cartoon conception in 1991 with the art stylings of a Capcom beat em up and it turned out that it was never true. Now look at it. Not only is one coming out but it looks exactly how I envisaged it. I need my head checked.
Well fading afternoon it is definitely what Yakuza series it should have been in 2d, but SEGA did not dare enough with the blood&gore there though imho.
The Toxic Crusaders seems very heavily based on the film "The Toxic Avenger" by Troma, and the green character with a mop looks very much like Melvin (The Toxic Avenger). They even make a reference to Troma at 1:39 by naming some city as Tromaville, from Troma as well.
I love that beat em ups are making a comeback but the overly retro pixel graphics just don't do it for me. Those same games with a modern, cleaner look would be awesome.

Another game which began as an Indie PC game from Brazil, which is coming to the Switch this Thursday will be Pull No Punches, whose story is a spoof of the pandemic in which you play as women who wear masks who are fed up with the ignorant mask and vaccine haters, conspiracy theorists and far right political upstarts that oppose the health mandates.
All of this looks like no new ideas, nothing interesring on beat em ups. I think the only ones that have been able to advance are the metroidvanias. Outside of that, all retro gaming styles have stagnated without new ideas
I doubt that you could make a better game yourself. Given your efforts, you would probably make a beat-em-up that makes Bebe's Kids seem like the best beat-em-up ever made, @brunodp28268.

@@doclouis4236 well if it just looks like a bunch of lego blocks then it's not good pixel art. SOR4 sprites' artstyle is too cartoony and their shading lack the depth of SOR2/3 pixel art sprites' shading. They made the characters look flat imo😐

It's based on the cartoon that was based on the movie. The cartoon kept Tromaville and a lot of the themes from the movie, minus the sex and gore
