Eh this project is underwhelming but fantano doesn’t have authority/the ear for trap music. You can have a legendary and very “experimental” beat with conventional snare sounds, 808, cymbals.. like that’s what being inspired is. Tons of newer “hyperpop” or rage beats use the same hi hats and 808s yet it’s more about the synths, the composition.. what the chords/melody evoke. There’s no right thing you “should” be listening to. I like lil shine, Xaviersobased, Laker Brady, Bladee, zelooperz, Joeyy, Sickboyrari. They all use convention trap drums yet the beats go hard in my opinion

What a coincidence!... Just last week I was listening to a song called "GoodBye Horses" by Psyche and I love that song! I got scared that Fantano was referring to Psyche but he's referring to "Ian" with the same Goodbye Horses title!
I liked some of the songs on it. showboat, end up gone, big wigs, hate me, and goodbye horses were solid tracks. so 5/13 for me in todays world that's not a terrible album. does he have so many similarities to yeat of course he does. he's different though. i hate him being torn apart because he does things others do. he makes good music here and there. the album has a defined vibe and theme that's more than lots of albums have. the continuity is nice the emotion is real those 5 songs are good regardless of whether the technique, flow, lyrics, bars, etc have been used i couldnt care less. im here for good music not newness for newness sake i just want good content fr. the album cover was nice too he is unique in some ways, ways i like, i like him being in the mix

Ian's music is reminiscent of early Chief Keef, early rage music, early yeat music. Just because Ian is white doesn't mean he can't take a genuine interest in rap music. He is speaking about what matters to him and in a perspective that's relatable to many people. You're welcome to disagree but if you liked alot of these things he's influenced by, he's doing his most authentic version of that. In regards to the type of beats/producers many people like that early 2010's "cheap" sound.

I agree race doesn't matter. but saying he's putting out thee most authentic version of his influences is delusional. it's imitation. he may technically be a part of the genres he's contributing to, but he never added to it like chief keef did. at most i can say he has a good ear for beats, but drake had a good ear for beats and he's also mediocre for the most part.
