    Just wanna point out that Natives have a superstition where you’re not supposed to whistle at night because it could summon a skinwalker/evil spirit, and in this scene 13:13 she whistles and immediately after you hear the predator make the iconic clicking noises. That’s just great attention to detail in my opinion, and a fun little Easter egg of sorts.

      The expectation was for Naru to get covered in mud to hide her body temperature as a callback to how Dutch fought in the first movie. It was subverted by turning things around but it still served as a callback. Good stuff.

    • @frey8725
      @frey8725 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think it was a callback. The trap worked exactly as intended. She aimed the helmet right where the predator would have had to have been, which means she planned that whole thing and knew it would be at that point in the quicksand, at that level and shoot her at that time. That was the worst part of the movie. Otherwise, I loved it.

    7:22 I don't think The Predator pursued her in the water, because it thought that she was weaker than the bear he'd already killed, and more or less doesn't see her as a threat, seeing her more like the rabbit.

    • @danhair
      @danhair ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hahahhahahahahaa..... you mean the predator let's a fully grown woman who tried to kill it multiple times is weaker than a guy with no weapons and no feet?

    • @LucianDevine
      @LucianDevine ปีที่แล้ว +28

      @@danhair I mean the first time he saw her fail miserably against the bear, which he later killed, meaning he felt the bear was superior. So he was content to let her float down the river. Then he saw the French had captured her. So maybe he felt that there wasn't any sport in killing her then.
      I feel like killing the guy with no feet or weapons was just like Jeremy said, the Predator just either being fed up with letting humans go, it deciding that they were the top of the food chain on the planet, and all needed to die, or that it couldn't tell between which ones were and weren't a threat, and was done taking chances after somehow taking some many wounds.
      The movie overall looks good, but the writing and plot are pretty suspect. I mean how does a predator take down most of an armed and trained modern private military team, but now one of those same creatures is getting injured, wounded, and finally killed by wild animals, colonial age weaponry and people?

    • @danhair

      Maybe the predator can get that kind of childish. Maybe. That still doesn't change the fact that he is shown being a hunter during the opening of the movie and a little bitch by the end of the movie.
      The point is: the movie has sloppy writing.

      The difference isn't from the Rabbit, as a normal Thermal scan shows mainly the Ears and Eyes as the main heat source. Modern equipment will adjust the image to show the rest of the body, kinda computer based dumb AI. This makes tracking things easier with thermal. The Predator would likely use the same things as well, and any other animal that uses heat to hunt would likely make those adjustments in the brain also.

    • @SgtSupaman
      @SgtSupaman ปีที่แล้ว +24

      @@M3ricle , their blood isn't cold, no, but their bodies don't regulate, meaning their body temperature will be very close to that of their environment. Thus, thermal vision should not see them very well. The point of the sin was more about how stupid it was that the predator couldn't see that human because of some medicine, but it saw the snake just fine.

    • @M3ricle
      @M3ricle ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@SgtSupaman A snakes body is not at all similar in temperature to its environment though. Ive owned snakes. They all require a heating element of sorts. If they could just hang out at room temperature all the time they wouldnt need a heat pad or lamp. They go into the sun or a warm area and absorb as much heat as they can without harming themselves then slowly lose that heat until their next basking session. So while theyre not always as infrared visible, they will definitely be at a higher heat than the environment thus visible.

    Just a quick point of correction regarding the functionality of the dart gun. It's not the case that the darts bounce around until they hit their target, they're individually guided projectiles programmed to home in on whatever the laser site is pointed at. When he comes out of the mud and fires the dart at her, the dart swoops around in a big circle to hit the predator rather than coincidentally bouncing around until it hit its mark.
    The REAL sin of this moment is how did she know exactly where the predator would end up so that she could plant the mask in the perfect position to nail the predator with a headshot with its own weapon? For that matter, how'd she know that the predator would save the dart gun until he was in the mud pit? :P

    Drawing the line at the chain makes sense and fits with the lore of Predators. Predators do not like attacking things that cannot defend itself or sees as weak as there is no challenge. The coyote was focused on something else, but it wasn't defenseless. Same thing with the weapons. it has advanced weapons, but their prey still has a chance to fight back. A chain or weakened prey prior to the hunt puts the prey at a disadvantage and there is no worth or honor in hunting something at its best against what you have. I like the predator because of what is implied about their culture and way of life/thinking without them ever speaking a word.

Also rope could easily tangled up during the throw making your axe useless. And somehow her rope is always the perfect length to be able to pull it with single move. The whole axe thing is the most unrealistic part in the movie, it would be better if they called is a Magic Axe of Returning +1 than having the whole rope thing.
    Besides, she seems to throw this axe way stronger than her mass is suggesting. Maybe there are some ultra trowing techniques that I am not aware of, but it looked as if she had Thor strength while trowing this axe.

    Predators actually have a code of honor, and although most of them follow it, it is usually considered more a guideline handbook than a proper rule book.
    This specific predator is an young-blood, pretty much an adult, but otherwise unproved against true challenging prey like a xenomorph. They must kill anything worthy on the way so they can finally be accepted into their final trial. He's pretty inexperienced, given how he fell for pretty much any trap laid for him and even some that weren't, this is particularly noticeable by the fact he attacked a lot of different animals without really knowing how worthy they are, so he was trying to find his way to the top of the food chain. Now about its specific conduct:
    Trapped prey is unfair game and absolutely shameful and a dishonor. Doesn't matter if you're a hardliner or not. That's why he left her alone.
    Using thermal vision is sometimes frowned upon, specially if you've been challenged to a duel, but otherwise pretty much generally acceptable.
    Finishing wounded prey is cool even if they're not a threat to you anymore, and although less honorably for you (if you're not the original hunter who wounded the prey), it is still mercy killing and a moral duty, but you should be willing to share the trophy with the hunter who previously wounded the prey if it wasn't you.

    I'm pretty sure the Predator we see in this movie is a junior untested one (sort of like Naru) and the other Predators are off fighting the French. That is why the ship did so many passes before dropping him off and why the forest is burnt down. This movie is a side battle to a larger battle that we never get to see.

    • @joshtull4306
      @joshtull4306 ปีที่แล้ว

      one issue on your take. the french wasn't that big of group (size of camp indicates that). the way it came across to me, that this was the first pred on earth and was there scouting it to see what was the top predators on the planet and if it was worthy to be a test site for future training tests.

    • @ftniceberg874
      @ftniceberg874 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not junior...he was mentally retarded! They intentionally sent him down knowing the second he wasn't chasing wildlife a real predator would remove him from their group. Killing itself by using a precision targeted weapon without the targeting system is dumb AF!

    In the Comanche dub, the callback line was changed because there's no translation for 'can' (very Yoda): "If it bleeds, we will kill it." Which is honestly way cooler of a line.

      No offence but that's a pretty silly take on it from you. He's not saying that the lines/actions which are callbacks "mess with the movie" but that it's overdone. And it's pretty obvious you aren't going to realise something is a direct quote or sequence lifted directly from something you've never seen before.

    One thing I liked about this movie is how rarely he uses projectiles. I hated how in the first one they were “apex predators” but used an instant death laser gun and cloaking. At least in this one it’s mainly his little knives, which demonstrate skill much better than a laser pointer.
    Granted he still cheats at every chance he gets. But at least he didn’t just shoot the bear

    • @ravenfazenbaker2497

      "Little knives"? You mean the two foot long swords that project out of his forearm band? He also used a giant metal shield like a circular saw to chop off heads. So he had plenty of instant death devices
