Should have removed 50 sins just for the fact that Maxine and Pearl are both played by Mia Goth. When I watched this in the theater I was SHOCKED when I found out about that when I got home, I had no idea and it made me appreciate it a lot more. She played a crazy old lady so well and the makeup was insane.
Their voices sound just alike, how did people not know??
Fun fact: I was the guitar double for this film, and am just as bummed as you that they didn't use more closeup footage during Landslide. There's like 1 shot near the beginning, but then none during the solo, which I did actually play.

You are right, I was thinking of watching this film just for the novelty but with a start like that if the review stays good I might not let the movie be spoiled.
I love how Jeremy goes on about how amazing the guitar player is and knows it's not Kid Cudi. Then the badass guitar player shows up in the comments to say what's up.
The barn door zoom on the first shot was genius. Stuff like this shows the makers know exactly what they‘re doing.
Isn't it crazy how better help was panned as being a scam a few years ago but some youtubers didn't drop the sponsor and now its made a massive come back and loads are doing it, do we really if its changed that much.

They're currently getting sued by the FTC because they sell all their "customers" data, (yes, they refer to the people who use their therapy app as customers and not clients or patients) despite promising they keep your data confidential. They sold it to effing Facebook of all people like urgh. If you want more info, BJ Investigates has an excellent video on her channel called "BetterHelp Shared Mental Health Data with Facebook" that details pretty much everything and mentions some of their previous scandals and roughly how much youtubers are paid for their sponsorships with Betterhelp....

I could've lived happily the rest of my life without remembering how Pearl and her husband got it on.
That's basically the only disturbing part of the movie...... I did NOT need a reminder of that imagery, kind stranger 😂😂
Old people are definitely fcking all the time, Skippy. In fact nursing homes are where we're seeing all these really virulent, hard to treat STDs right now, bc old people know they don't have a lot of time left so they go full yolo, plus they don't have a lot of experience with using condoms since they likely married in the 70s and just recently lost their partner.
Not even a slight mention of Maxine and Pearl being played by the same actress, the technique involved in pulling off scenes of the two of them together, or the parallels between their characters?
Worth a mention. But maybe they assumed most people are familiar with the movie, Pearl, starring...Mia Goth. Great movies, both of them either way.
@@bryantaylor1572 I can understand that and it does make sense, but I meant specifically in this movie having her play both characters took quite a bit of technique and created a unique theme of the movie. She also dissappears in that old age makeup even though she has a fairly distinct look.
Also, I mostly brought it up after being surprised in the comments how many people had never even heard of this movie or seen it.
It was interesting to me when I first saw it, and took quite a while for me to notice, but has an interesting change in the ways to view the movie after noticing.

One of my favorite horror movies of 2022, in a GREAT year for horror. Mia Goth got robbed of an Oscar nod for Pearl.

I've been wanting to see this movie for a while now. It seems to have an interesting premise.
Think of it as "Boogie Nights" meets "Texas Chainsaw Massacre". And it was better and more memorable than the actual next Texas Chainsaw film that came out that year.
15:25 IIRC when Pearl and Howard are dragging Lorraine's body inside the house, Maxine overhears Howard mentions something about getting Wayne out of the barn and disposing of him in the lake.
I remember my brother and I laughing our asses off at the theatre during the couples sex scene
I really liked this movie and the prequel. Best horror movie franchise in a long time.

X is my favorite horror movie of 2022. Haven't been this disturbed in years, also definitely check out Pearl the prequel to X. Mia Goth was excellent in both movies.

When I went to see this movie, there was a group of about 4 or 5 teenage girls that snuck in to see this movie. After about 30 minutes of this movie playing, they all walked out pretty quickly. I have never laughed so hard.
