1:02:06 They couldn't target themself for the scry+draw, because of The One Ring. Not sure why they didn't create a spawn, though edit: spawn mode is targetted as well
I really enjoy watching bosh playing formats outside vintage or legacy and the result being big brain navigation or "this deck is sick, good work opponent"
I love lockout decks. I created a Historic version of this on Arena and I'm still tuning it, but its super fun to play. Your video was also fun to watch, thank you for the content.
Brian you totally missed it. When you commented that that Ajani's ult was cataclysm... yeah... see what wizards did there? CATaclysm. It's cat tribal XD
103 mark you could have fetched in response to Sowing Mycrospawn to get your last surveil land and get threshold. Not that it would have done much but, could have :D
Of note, in the second game of round 5 vs Eldrazi Tron, when they go to exile Colussium, you did have a way of achieving threshold! If you fetch into a surveil land, and then surveil what you found into the graveyard, you have threshold online, allowing you to crack the colussium in response to the exile trigger!
Round 3 game 1, Tidebinder can stifle a land, even if it doesn't turn off the ability. Stifle the Inkmoth to survive a turn into Bolt construct, Snap Bolt face, Bolt face swing lethal with Druid was a line. May have been correct had they drawn the indestructible trick?
I believe that they could just let tide binder resolve and then activate inkmoth a second time to kill through that line. If they do it in response then inkmoth loses abilities but not if its just a land
If I were you, I would’ve sided in Force in the last round. I’m probably wrong tho, but I am curious which matchup the force is for if not a deck that has early prison pieces
Fairly certain the interaction between Flying Counter and Tidebinder is a bug. Each counter has the timestamp of the most recent time that type of counter is added to an object (613.7c). Keyword counters apply in layer 6 the same as other ability-adding and -removing effects, so Tidebinder should remove flying around 25:00. Unless I'm interpreting rule 613.1f incorrectly.
You're correct indeed, counters have a timestamp too which is the point where you added the latest of these counters. These keyword counters work in layer 6 of ability adding/removing and there is no dependency between the counter and tidebinder so the creature should not have had flying. The counter will give the ability first and the tidebinder will remove the ability directly after
@@derekcline950 That is not how continuous effects work, they only apply one time in the process of determining what the final game object should look like. This is called Layers. This is indeed a bug. If an equipped/enchanted creature loses its abilities it also loses any abilities granted by the equipment/Enchantment, and ability counters are the exact same. We know this because they are literally listed in the CR on the same Layer as ability removing effects like Tidebinder. For your ease of reference: Rule 613 is where you can find the full explanation of Layers in the CR.
Now that Nardu is banned and the meta has shifted in response, I wonder if something like this is more viable. I do think that if you are going to build in a Narset lock, you need to be more 'all in' on it. It looked like it was more of an afterthought in this deck, which may be the reason it didnt work. Also, with eldrazi being a thing, you really should have had a way to deal with the fatties, so that seems like a deck construction oversight there. In addition, Narset lock is likely better in Dimir, Azorius, or an Esper shell, using some cities of Crucible to the coliseum recursion. In truth however; gier-reach sanitarium is the land used to maintain the narset lock, coliseum would be a pathway to get the lock.
I was going to suggest an energy package with white and Wrath the Skies, but youre kind of shoehorned into Temur cuz of Wrenn and Narset, and stretching the manabase might be too much
If they start with zero cards in hand, and you activate Coliseum in their upkeep, they draw 3 (which Narset makes 1) and discard 3 all at once with no place to cast spells. Then they go to their draw step and Narset prevents their draw. They’ll never have a card in hand and priority to cast it.
@@AaronRotenberg i was about to say i hadnt seen it before, then i rechecked the video title and saw this was modern not legacy, im much more familiar with legacy!
About Argoth, you say "we did threaten a meld, it almost happened" (1:15:20) but assuming you refer to 37:16, you only had 1 land in your graveyard (it does require 4) so not even close, sadly. Forest FTW
122.1b A keyword counter on a permanent or on a card in a zone other than the battlefield causes that object to gain that keyword. Hey Bosh, not trying to get into the question of the power level of Nadu, BUT: you're playing a UG deck in modern; wouldn't Nadu just be an extremely good fair creature? It would be a pretty easy 1-for-1 swap with Planar Genesis, and you can Wrenn ping it to draw a card whenever you don't have a land you want to recur, it's punishing to remove, etc.. I'm not sure a Shuko (with or without Urza's Saga) would be worth it, but Nadu just seems like a kinda nutso fair creature in any UGx deck in my estimation. But I'm not super hip to the jive of current MTG metagame, especially with how fast & fragile modern is right now.
Yeah... when I feel like the current main deck that should be targeted by your hate cards isn't even really being touched... feels like the deck needs a little bit better of a focus... like there are 2 main decks in the format currently... Nadu and ruby storm and I feel like this deck just completely folds to both of them... good luck to all who attempt this deck but with the "meta" being what it is currently, this deck just isn't it...
Keep in mind I record in advance, this has been done for well over a week. The cards were newer and we didn’t have a whole pro tour worth of information. 🤷🏻♂️
"wait, I'm not at work, but Bosh posted a video. Special weekend video? No, it's not Cube. .... oh right"
Happy 4th of July, everyone.
Did the same

No reaction to the CATaclysm? I'm laughing my ass off over here 😂
That capybara pfp from the hardened scales opponent pisses me off😂 it looks so smug
I do not like this capybara, Charlie! Its smug aura _mocks_ me!
I wanted dack fayden in mh3 so god damn bad for exactly this deck

Mh3 has turned Modern into a lawless wasteland and im honesty here for it
the game is going to shit with each release but luckily I'm an NPC with resting pog-face-syndrome
Oh good, based on the decklist, I see Nadu was banned
No..not yet

@yoricktop8649 and then the counter would remain and reapply flying because the counters are a continuous effect. Not a bug

22:59 cat-aclysm?
What about adding Nantuko?
Isn't octopus prison just imprisoned in the moon from edritch moon? That is locking a spaghetti monster away into the moon.
Why did loam not make the cut in addition to ren and 6?
I was going to suggest an energy package with white and Wrath the Skies, but youre kind of shoehorned into Temur cuz of Wrenn and Narset, and stretching the manabase might be too much
Did mtgo add in or increase the smoothness of animations .I feel like things are tapping more smoothly
They’ve been fiddling with display settings, yeah
This could totally be a RUG Wizards list with Energy. New Energy Bolt can get to 6 energy easier than expected.
so, why couldnt they zap out an instant in response like.... stifle? to counter the effect. or lightning bolts/removal?

Boros Energy was one of the first decks AspiringSpike built during MH3 previews and the #6 most common deck at the Pro Tour.

You have some sort of mic issue. Whenever you talk there is a a feedback noise that kind of sounds like line bleed.
I’ve replaced the mic. There is a prerecorded backlog of videos to work through.

Why did Growth Spiral get such a massive buff? That's so absurd.
is it possible to play a deck like this in timeless ?
The Guide of Souls should lose flying when you Tidebinder it- ability counters work the same way as just gaining abilities in this regard

PLEASE port this into legacy somehow? Would love to see this deck played with 60 real Magic cards☝️😇
Of course the deck won't do well, more than half its cards are from non MH sets
I have a magic rules question. If you bounce a creature that has a bestow creature it, dose the bestow die just like a normal enchant?
No. If anything happens to the creature, including getting removed in response to the Bestow, it just becomes the creature version in play.

That's just a totally different deck at that point. Sure you can do it, that's just not what this is.
WTF happened to modern as a format. It's turned into Tommy from Froopyland.
