I find it insulting that big names in Hollywood get millions of dollars to make utter crap but you guys come up with an awesome idea that had me on the edge with a small ass budget and TH-cam. I support this
Thanks so much man! I really appreciate that.
SuperBlankTube You're absolutely right. These guys had me on the edge of my seat the whole time watching this short. Something most big movies that come out fail to even come close to achieving.
Pharlynx Ditto, these guys were creative, entertaining and they had a story that you could understand with minimum dialogue to boot.
+Film Riot Dude I'm from Dubai and i'm ready to pay you guys whatever price you want under one condition to make a full movie of this. Private message me if you're interested. When I said any price I mean it.
I agree toataly
I want to see a full-feature length film for PROXiMITY, Seriously, do a kickstarter...
Could you stop +1 ing this?
It's kinda annoying to see it in my notifications every week
+Ian Easton Too bad.
+Ian Easton dude you mute it
+Ian Easton IT will never stop! Nobody can stop IT!
same here!!!
I really liked how the fight scene in the mud bank didn't have any music. Just them fighting and struggling gave it a cool effect, I don't know. This film was really great, loved the story and all the editing! The actors are great too!
I agree! The effect of no music can be amazing at times.
It helped make that scene more personal and grittier.
once you see josh in the other videos you can never take him seriously as an actor
I know right but hes a good all rounder. looks the part too
It seems jarring when the rest of the film was bombastic in its OST choices.
That main guy's very calm when he's explaining they have the same clothes. He's the kind of level headed character you want your ankle bomb to be paired up with. What a cool dude.
Haha yeah. Agree
I totally agree!! I would have definitely stuck it out on that boat with him!! Lmao
One of the best short films I have ever seen
Gabriele Vinci rude
Gabriele Vinci Like you would know.

The word is: excellent. Absolutely excellent. Smart, tight script, beautiful directing, spot-on editing, magnificent sound and a score to sweep you right along. Well done to all (especially Ryan), and great to see it's accumulated so many views in such a short time. Here's to 116,000 more.
Thank you!!!!!
Film Riot You're very welcome. Also, allow me to correct an oversight: brilliant performances and cinematography also.
Film Riot
Fucking AWESOME as usual guys & cinematography was on point!!!!!! Great work. Cant wait to get my copy and watch the behind the scenes content. Did you use a steadycam for the chase scenes Ryan?
Loved it! Felt like something Stephen King could have written. The tight edit and the sound/music deliver it with a punch!
Nice to see you commenting on this one.
It was a great short that I really enjoyed. I like checking out what other people do :)
That's great. Thank you for the tutorial guys. I learned a lot from Film Riot and from you, Tobias.
Thank you very much for watching and supporting! It's always great to hear that my tutorials are useful to other film makers out there :)
Tobias!
Amazing! Gave me a sort of "Maze Runner" feeling.
AMAZING WORK GUYS! Can't wait to see the BTS!
This was pretty incredible, guys. Very Impressive film making, I love Tell, but I honestly think this is your best.
Very good Ryan, I really enjoyed it. Totally forgot I was watching an acted film. No kidding there. Acting, the cast choices, music and everything else went very well together. A very polished film. Thumbs up from me.
Fantastic work Ryan & Team! Loved every second of this, setting the bar high for short indie films!
You did it again, Ryan.
This deserves a feature length film!!!!! Im serious I would pay to see it in a second!
That was phenomenal! I was completely gripped from start to finish, and it was so much more than just your bog standard fighting/action film. In fact, I'm going to have to watch it again!
Seriously great job guys! And I can't wait to see your zombie movie if this (if my memory serves me correctly) was your backup film! :)
And this would make a great feature film
Ever since I found out that the rock is really just a sponge I can never really think about it the same.
Yeah
Man, just wait until you find out that none of this really happened and this whole thing is fake...
No shit it's fake XD
Hi Im Craiggerz Then what does it matter if the rock is fake ? haha. And i was kidding with you.
What I meant was the first time I watched it, it didn't really come to my mind that it was fake. So now that I come back and watch it, I only really see a guy getting beat with a sponge XD
Can't believe it took me this long to watch it. Incredible.
Really great cinematography Ryan! Had me on the edge of my seat!
DANG!! Beautiful example of “stop the circle of violence.” BRAVO!!!!
one of the best and creative short film I had watched kudos to Ryan ...
I am doing a short film ........action thriller reveal it soon follow me on g+pranav koduri
The Mud scene looked and felt extremely real and having no music during that part was brilliant. There were so many things about this that I loved...
I still get chills when Todd's character takes the leg-piece and puts it on his arm. The music swells, and you get the feeling that his character is gonna take the fight to the hunters. Excellent!
Amazing! Wonderful filming, editing, storyline AND acting!
Part 2! Plz
Or another short film as awesome as this
The behind the scenes on this are absolute gold dust. Great example of run and gun filmmaking
This was brilliant!
I started the film with the mindset of de-constructing the whole thing to learn from it, just analysing everything; but somewhere along the line I completely forgot about all of that and was just immersed in the story. I suddenly found myself on the edge of my seat, holding my breath!
To tell so much in such little time is amazing! I love it
You guys should make a full length film. Like for real, make a kick starter.
Yes, definitely!
yeah! a Kickstarter would be amazing!
I agree

this is brilliant! Had me hooked from the start
Awesome!! Reminds me of a sci fi novel I read once, except that these collars were worn around the neck!!
Dude, that's whats up! I want to see a feature long movie from you guys.
Amazing Story, Actors, Environment... Great Piece of Work
Why was this so interesting? (I totally expected the guy to smile at the end, though. lol.)
Wow! By far one of the best short films I've seen. Amazing work in putting this together!
It was great, except for the dialogue, acting, plot, cinematography, music, and editing.
M. Winston
Say whut now xd
There was nothing good about it, except maybe 'production quality'. The use of an expensive camera and a large crew; however, isn't really enough to salvage something so impersonal, artificial, dull, and vapid (not to be too grievous). There is a reason this guy is just making videos for TH-cam.
I'd like to hear why people think this is good, apart from it looking or sounding 'cool'. One should know that I'm a pretty big film nerd though, so I recognize my taste in film is probably a few standard deviations from the norm.
M. Winston
Well yeah. Everyone has different tastes and such. I don't knoq, I just find it to be good. Acting and everything.
M. Winston
Probably because most (short)films are pointed towards normal people like me and many others, and not a movie demigod. So Ryan couldn't care less if a Hipster like you likes or not his short film, I think it's great, the quality of the shots is amazing, the recording style is unique, the color correction and sound effects were just perfect. The plot is captivating and most of the normal people like cliffhangers, so you go to IMDB's top 250 and stay away from Film Riot.
Exactly as a film should be. Excellent acting, script, pacing, sound, music etc.
Wow Ryan ...you just keep getting better. Your time is coming.
F'n awesome... You know you have a killer product by the whiney jealous hater comments...
Thanks, Mark!

+Mark Leon Tanner I don't understand how there could be any. that was pretty incredible.
Simple script but perfectly made!
storyline was awesome! would be really cool to see a sequel
Great short film, was very tense and well directed!
Holy shit this was so awesome I forgot i was on TH-cam, it was more like netflix
That was amazing! Really well done, great little story
my god this was mind blowing! This was more entertaining then most way bigger budget films!! Mr. Connolly you and you crew are beyond epic!
Wow! Thank you so much. I'm smiling like an idiot now. haha
omg this has to be the best short film i've ever watched
Really good, would love to see a full length version
GENIUS! :D
Just now rewatching this, and again realising how great this one is.
I love how you tell the story without a lot of dialogue! Really good Short!
This very much reminds me of an olf scifi film named "Wedlock"... loved the concept then... love it now
just watched this back on my ultrawide. Pure Cinematic Perfection
That was intense
I mean, heart pounding the whole time - I'm sweating
Damn dude....that mud scene
that would suck to do
Felt like I was watching The Raid 2
This is honestly one of the best short films I have ever seen... Make MORE!
My short film suggestion of the week. PROXiMITY
Just watched this for the 3rd time. Great shots, great color, great look and feel. I'm jonesing to see what you guys have planned for 2015.
This was a sick idea story wise for a fast turn around project
A hero has emerged...A man not willing to continue the cycle of madness...Instead he will amass an army of the condemned and overthrow the power-lords! Awesome guys:)
You want to turn this into a full feature i would pay to go see it, Brilliant story
Jesus christ your suspense control is AMAZING. that drowning scene was so fucking perfect and the release of the shackles literally terrified me
Thanks so much. Very glad you enjoyed it!
I genuinely want to see a full-movie version of this now. Great filming/editing!
Coolest thing I've seen in a while! Excellent
still one of my fave shorts! everything about it is awesome!
I think the story brings only more questions than it answers
I think that may have been the point. In my opinion, stories are meant to leave people thinking.
Amazing work!
The vagueness of the short is why it is so powerful. The audience is given just as much information as the main character. We don't have all the answers and neither does he. The last scene eludes to his position in the opening scene. Though, He is in a different role, him making a choice that shakers the events of before, wraps up the whole story nicely by giving the audience change, not resolution.
Ya dig? ;)
So good, nice job!
Anyone here after Ballistic?
Wow! That was literally about 20x better than I was expecting it to be! Amazing job!
The acting was superb!
I'm very proud of the guys. They gave 100% in every moment.
It was really good.
will you consider making an extended version which competes the story of the main character? (would love to see a feature length movie from you one day)
THAT WAS AMAZING HAD ME ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT THE WHOLE TIME!!
Awesome
I'm not sure if I fully understand it but that doesn't mean i'm not absolutely amazed. Every time you make a short film I am stunned at how awesome it is.
See that's how I feel
Ryan you seriously know how to direct action. It was extremely tense, I loved it.
This had me tensing up more than most Hollywood movies! Fantastic!
Excellent work, guys!
The scene were he drowns the dude really had me on the edge. Great fucking work, guys. This is gold.
This was sensational!
Oh my gosh, the ending was awesome! Thanks, Ryan!
I like it, great adaption of the film Wedlock. Spot on filming and acting
I would love to see this picked up for Hollywood treatment. Hour and a half run time, expanded story, the works. This is a very impressive short film and I hope Ryan expands on this when he makes it big.
Also I gotta comment: two guys with guns hunting people with explosive leg collars in the middle of the woods... and the first thing Jake leads in with when talking to Luke is their clothes? Haha I know it's extremely peculiar but other factors were more grabbing. That's my opinion at least.
Great Work Man! Would love to do something together sometime!!
sup
.
this is amazing.
Great Work !! i like this alot !
How does this not have more views? This is amazing.
Holy shit! That was great! Make a proximity 2!
Well done!
If you guys make a full film I promise that I will go to cinema with my friends (minimum 10 friends) . You know this job. And I believe in you.
10/10
Movie Plot: They live in a Distopian society where there is whats called "The Zone." Similar to the hunger games, six people are randomly selected to enter the zone every year (They must be over eighteen). One person tries to stop the zone, so they rig the choosing to get themself in, then win the zone (making them one of the captains), then they kill the other zone captain. ... someone finish it for me thats all Ive got
this is really good....I am very impressed...
its been 3 years and i still lov this short film
Holy shit the writer of this story has a creative mind, the film was great, the story was great, the audio was great. No one could have done it any better than you guys!
So well done! You guys keep on raising the bar, and giving hope to us low-budget filmmakers that we can lift the quality of our films to the next level!
This is definitely Ryan's best short film.
This is better than most movies!!
God Ryan, this was so amazing! I was simply blown away.
this video was so amazin, if you could try to write a paper about it, and sell it, you will make a lot of money
Watching this again in 2015, just showed my brother it, and he liked it. This was really well done. And I agree this deserves more views!
I don't even know where to start congratulating you guys on this masterpiece... I'll just start by saying this has been one of the most absorbing and well done stories I've seen in a short film under 15 minutes in a very long time. Bravo gentlemen, bravo.
