Same. But, other than that, we should be careful in some countries in EU. My colleague lost his luggage in bus in Italy.
And I almost lost my luggage when I check in in a hotel in Rome.

When I was in Vietnam on a tour I took a sleeping car on the train from Hanoi to Hue, The trains there run much slower. The trains in Germany are fast. So no need for a sleeping car but the international trains some of them that go overnight have sleeping cars. As for food, yes, a lady come around and sells food. And you're advised to bring your own toilet paper because you might not find any in the toilet.

Some things to point out: many European long-distance trains have beds, but only at night. And on most long-distance you can buy some food or drink from the attendant. And some even have a bar or a dining car. And there's always a conductor, but the train is long so it takes them some time to get to you.

American here so probably not a huge surprise while at work during a holiday at night had someone steal my cell phone.
This was like over 15 years ago but I worked in the toy section of Walmart (popular/infamous department grocery store) it was Thanksgiving night (retail so usually opened and work most major holidays and thanksgiving is a major holiday) but because it was the holiday we were rather slow. I had been texting with a friend while working (I know.. I was 20) and went to do something and put my phone UNDER my notepad I kept with me on the cart I was working from.
I had walked away for maybe 2 minutes and when I got back it was gone.
It took a minute to be able to try to call my phone due to the way the number was set up it was long distance and our work phones except the manager's office ones couldn't call long distance.
I tried to call and it went straight to voice mail.

@@Xarx42hat do they serve then for snacks im genuinely curious? I love knowing how the train is different in different countries and what people eat on them.
I live in Canada but on longer distance trains an employee with a cart comes around selling water, tea, coffee, wine, simple cocktails and ofc milk and juice for kids, sometimes the bar cart has small snacks like chips, granola bars and yogurt parfaits. Then another cart comes with food, depending on the time of day also has water and juice bottles/boxes but also full meals like pasta, baked fish, big sandwichs, even can order Is charcuterie board with wine that have to come back to bring to you but still you can order it. They also have bagels, oatmeal or a breakfast plate in the morning. All meals and snacks have small options like fruit and boiled eggs though. I love getting an egg and small bowl of fruit when on the train. In business class the food is included so whenever the price is not much more than economy I take that for the fancy full meals, I love the little breads you get at dinner and lunch, always take advantage of the free bar cart showing up in Toronto a bit tipsy LOL.
For the 2-8 day train trips across Canada they do have a restaurant car though as well but for 10hr usually they would just have the carts going around offering food and drink.

Then one delay can potentially mess up multiple routes. If a fast intercity train had a delay (which, when they do is often around an an hour), the short distance trains that drive much slower often have to let them pass, which can mean having to come to a halt. The signals (train trafficlights) also seem to be an issue a lot.

Luggage can indeed be stolen, even in European trains. However, stealing a big, potentially heavy suitcase in a intercity train is risky. The lower and upper ones were rigid and didnt move, while the middle bunks could hinge down to act as a backrest while sitting on the lower bunk. It was really cool and the only time in my life that ive taken a multi day train ride. Some ICE trains in Germany do have an onboard restaurant where you can purchase snacks and drinks along your journey. It's like a separate wagon. But you have to go there yourself, they won't serve you at your seat.
Trains that travel more regionally/ shorter distances mostly don't offer any snacks or drinks. So you'd either bring your own stuff or get something out of a shop at the train stations before, along or after your journey.
