@@RaptureSniping Not sure what you mean by this. I’ve done my research. I simply meant they should mention it’s a DSG and not a traditional automatic. Thank you though for nastily replying to a 6 year old comment.
I thought the original idea of the flat bottom steering wheel was to make it easier for people to use a clutch pedal, so their knees do not rub against the wheel.
Dave, the flat bottom steering wheel is actually an F1 thing. F1 wheels are flat on the bottom so that the driver, who sits very snug inside the car, has room for his legs to get underneath it, and can still turn the wheel. It's just a little styling thing. You'll find the same style on a Ferrari steering wheel.
There is a portion of consumers, myself included, that buy these "sport" variants of cars due to that fact that they come with the same or similar interior amenities as the top of the line trim model for much less $$$. Personally, if I cared about performance, I'd get a muscle or dedicated sports car.
This by far is the worst review I have ever watched/read on a "high performance" vehicle. Where, when and how is it every acceptable to state that the Hyundai Elantra is a competitor to a GLI? Also, the "every man driver" (host) is missing the point. Individuals who purchase cars like the GLI,Honda civic SI, Mazdaspeed 3, Ford Focus St etc.....do not purchase the vehicle for such luxuries as cooled front seats and all of the other non-standard luxuries. We are talking about the performance version of an entry level Sedan for Christ sakes! On a high not my favorite part of the review was the monologue about the DSG transmission which is huge selling point for this vehicle if purchased in auto.......But there are 3 different ways to open the trunk. SMH.
You can’t talk about performance with cars that have a 4 cylinder engine. Leave performance to the big boys. These are just family cars that want to be sports cars.
Dave it is an Compact car you don't fine options like sun shades and Cooled Seats in this class. Im am 6 foot and find the back seat the most comfortable in the class.
I live in Palm Springs, california. We crack the sunroof open for ventilation when parked. Other than that, closed. Panoramic sun roofs are useless due to the lack of insulation.. Living here in the desert, I've regretted purchasing a car with a panoramic sunroof due to extreme cold and heat fluctuations.
I've seen a lot of your reviews and I have to say I really like them. This one however was a little rough. I think you set the bar pretty high so this one stuck out as one that wasn't as good as I'm used to.
Are front plates not necessary in Washington? Personally, I also go without the front plate even though it's a requirement because it looks a lot cooler, clean, and removes clutter. In my experience as long as you have a clean car and don't drive like you own the road, the authorities are pretty cool about it.
I really dont ever use my sunroof on my car. I live in TX so that is kind of a given as to why i don't, i do use it in the fall when the days are warm and the nights get chilly. If i do want a breath of fresh air on a nice night, i open the sunroof and turn on the seat warmers and heater. I maybe do that 3 to 5 times a year, other than that, it is shut and so is the shade! Also, i dont ever use those screens in the back seats of cars. I don't even use the motorized one in my rear window either. I am one of those ppl though who likes my windows tinted on the car though.
I live in New York and I use the sunroof in spring and winter times but not summer times...right now the current temp is is 90 degrees and if I open the sunroof, my butt will burn..lol...
1. Hoard stern "Mammory Lane 99' Vaginosis" on the radio, lol 2. superman's guest appearance at the end 3. it's a vw jetta GLI, not a passat good review though, thanks!
Cool review, I have always liked the GLI, I'm thinking of getting one perhaps as my next car and really cool that you pointed out the rear legroom and trunk space. I think you certainly forgot to mention the most important aspect of this car, it's shared engine and components with the GTI, which then puts it in a different level than any Elantra or Corolla, per se. At which point this car becomes a bargain Audi and (long live) Acura TSX competitor.
good review, thanks. would it be possible for you to please review 2014 VW CC Sport? I currently have 2012 GLI Autobahn and thinking of replacing it with the CC. Jetta GLI Autobahn is overall a nice car and good value but the road noise is too much and hard plastics on the door panels have been irritating. Like the VW brand and want to stay with it though. love the cc looks. Thank you.
hey Dave! I love watching your videos. Hopefully you will get yo review the new MK7 Golf GTI. Everyone is giving it good reviews. Would love to hear your take! Thanks
So, you are really thirsty, it's a hot day at that time, you want to stay cool, but your drink of choice is Redbull? Yeah...I'm just going to leave it there.
I have a 2012 GLI and love it. I am thinking about trading it, possibly on a Civic SI sedan. Would you recommend the SI or another GLI or something else for that matter?
im thinking someone else noticed that he called the jetta a passat?
It has a DSG, not a traditional automatic. I hate when people don't mention that BIG detail.
dsg is proven to hold more power then the manual. do a little research

Thank you, I knew it wasn't because of obesity! lol
no mention of the Fender Audio this unit probably has.
lol that red bull product placement was funny
Subtle it wasn't.
He also was way more excited about the red bull than the car. The test drive portion was lame -- no acceleration runs or handling tests.

in California, i use my sunroof every single day.

I work at a car dealer and i've driven the base GLI manual. I'd definitely buy one.
Dave it is an Compact car you don't fine options like sun shades and Cooled Seats in this class. Im am 6 foot and find the back seat the most comfortable in the class.
7:41 Not Passat
I always use my moon/sun-roof, I don't buy a car without one.
Amen
You called the GLI a Passat at 7:40...
Yess!
Plus the flat bottom steering wheel is a F1 thing. Overall the GLIBis a rare car but totally worth the cost. The 2.0L TSI turbo is a gem of a motor!!

you said vw passat instead of GLI !!...
If I had a sun roof I would use it all the time..though I do like to lower all four windows on a cooler evening
I have a 2013 gli autobahn, the only thing I don't like is no backup camera, I use the sunroof whenever I can
And here we have the new Red Bull spot! XD
I really dont ever use my sunroof on my car. I live in TX so that is kind of a given as to why i don't, i do use it in the fall when the days are warm and the nights get chilly. If i do want a breath of fresh air on a nice night, i open the sunroof and turn on the seat warmers and heater.

Anyone else see the Superman toy in the introduction?
superman is a the end too, just before the pricing of the car!!!!
ganelon georgieff Superman Returns :-)
7:37 whoa whoa. did I hear him call it a Passat???
haha, no. the flat bottom is for better steering grip when turning, on a race track. the vw dealer near me calls it a Race Inspired Wheel.
you are usually way better than this. this review was very garbage for such a good car. too bad...
I live in New York and I use the sunroof in spring and winter times but not summer times...right now the current temp is is 90 degrees and if I open the sunroof, my butt will burn..lol...
Didn't mention the sound system and subwoofer in the trunk.
1. Hoard stern "Mammory Lane 99' Vaginosis" on the radio, lol
2. superman's guest appearance at the end
3. it's a vw jetta GLI, not a passat
good review though, thanks!
Tyler Gunz nice work spotting and catching my passat flub - Dave
So... it's a Passat now??😂😂
Lmao smh 😂😂
Apparently that cold can of sugar free Redbull is playing with his brain, it's a Jetta you're testing, Mr. Everyday Driver!

you have to use premium?
Oh, so it's a Passat now
+Gabe Araya Dont think he caught that ha
My car doesn't have a sun roof but my brother's car does and he keeps it uncovered but doesn't actually open the sun roof.
I use my sun roof all the time unless I really want to stay cool I just have it on the tilt setting
There are 3 trim levels. Base, Autobahn and Autobahn with Nav.
+Dan the man Also Edition 30 Trim level for that year.

The new face lift on 15+ is ugly now.
The msrp on the passat? Hahahaha
Great review 😅😊
Don't know about the car but I am definitely buying a Red Bull now.
Dave are you wearing sanuks?
hey Dave! I love watching your videos. Hopefully you will get yo review the new MK7 Golf GTI. Everyone is giving it good reviews. Would love to hear your take! Thanks
Christopher Phipps I hope to get behind the wheel of the Golf in the coming months - Dave
So, you are really thirsty, it's a hot day at that time, you want to stay cool, but your drink of choice is Redbull? Yeah...I'm just going to leave it there.
Had that so called leatherette seating surface from BMW and VW, BMW quality was great. VW gave me pimples where I made contact?
I never use my sunroof I just open the cover and use it for the light I never open the glass
I have a 2012 GLI and love it. I am thinking about trading it, possibly on a Civic SI sedan. Would you recommend the SI or another GLI or something else for that matter?
Almost never use sunroof, only use it once when showing off to friends...
Like to see you get your hands on the new gti
I use my sunroof just about every time I get in my 4Runner
Great car just be ready for the timing chain timing chain tensioner to go out on you :)
you said Passat at 7:40
I wouldn't buy a car without a sunroof, probably every day.
Did anyone else notice he said passat at the end of the video
use my sunroof all the time in my prelude
XxMetalGorxX Do you notice additional road noise?
Everyman Driver to be honest not really :) don't even have a sunroof deflector
I cannot drive without the sunroof open, i always have it open.
Jetta not a Passat & secondly the steering wheel is race inspired, geared for racing.. so 🧐
Um wtf at the end of the vid he says Passat. Wow if you cant remember what you have just driven you should not be doing this job
That red bull made me cringe....
Dave, you called it a Passat at the end of your review. Also just say butt or ass. Bum is just awkward.
Let me guess, Redbull sponsors you?
It's a Jetta not a Passat ! Haha !
2015 is coming soon
4:50 Vitameatavegamin anyone? :-)
Superdave figurine FTW
hamzterix Good eyes!
It's a GLI NOT! a Passat
good but very cheesy video.
Nice legs
This guy is a fool
Sorry I feel asleep halfway through. What a dull car. I just kept thinking "airport rental"
Ya I've never seen a GLI rental before...
junk
