In this video I restored an old machete which I got from the flea market a couple of months ago.
I am not really sure if this piece is actually homemade or only the handle was replaced, since the handle definitely isn't original. Or maybe whoever made it didn't care? 😄 What do you think?
The work on the project took about 20 hours (inclusive filming) plus about 18 hours of editing.
If you are willing to support me leave a comment, subscribe and share my work, I really appreciate and it helps me a lot!
I hope you will have some fun watching the video! If you have any further questions on the process, tools, material or else write a comment, I will try my best to answer your questions.
I hope you liked the video! Thank you for watching and feel free to leave a comment and subscribe if you liked :)
Until next time :)

I restored a machete from the flea market I Dr. Hut of Handcraft
Finished product looks incredible
Glad you like it, thank you!
Wir sind richtig beeindruckt 😮
Merci 🙏🏼
Ottimo lavoro. Bravo.
🙏🏼
Slick! 👏👏👏👏👏
😄 thanks
The handle is beautiful, but as a machete, it's meant for lots of heavy chopping. That's why it had the knob at the pommel, so the hand wouldn't slip off during work.
Thank you!
Do you mean the tape? 😄
Very nice Doc. I always enjoy watching your videos. Not too long. ⌚
Thank you Dave 🙏🏼
Seems nice.
Thank you 😄
Beautiful! I'm from Americana SP - Brasil.

Niiiiiice❤❤

Nice
Thanks!

If it was originally home made, was done fairly well. Not a bad machete. Looks like it would have gotten the job intended done
I think so too
nice work, but I always like to see the history of the piece preserved. Making it look like new mean, it might as well be new. I would also make the handle a bit slimmer and longer with a knob or curved to help with the grip.
Thank you for your comment!
Machete? Looks more like a butchers knife maybe? Nice work👍👍
Hm I don’t know, when I first saw it I thought of a machete 😄 Thank you!
Are they not called Chicago rivets.. I might be wrong but Chicago rivets ring a bell for me. Like I say , im probably way off what I think they’re actually called 😂 Brilliant video as always sir👏👏👍👍
Lol you’re right, chicago rivets, not California rivets 😂😂
🤩
🙏🏼
Beautiful work, dude! It turned out better than new! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thank you! You too 🙂
👌👍👏🎉
🙏🏼
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
But the rivets had to be made of brass...
I used aluminium because in my opinion silver fit more to the color of the handle.
Thank you for your comment!
Agree with you about the tetanus vaccine. That disease is much easier to prevent than cure. Tetanus lives in the soil. so things don't need to be rusty, just dirty. Love your work.
Exactly, Clostridium tetani lives in the soil among other places and the spores are very resilient so it can persist for a long time! Definitely good idea to be vaccinated 😄
That knife can only cut carrots? Can it cut paper?
I am sure it can also cut other vegetables 😄 and yes it can also cut paper 😄
👍👏👍👏👍👏👍👏👍👏👍👏🥃🥃🥃

7 Euros for this thing lol !!
I think it was worth it 😄
Someone charges you 7 Euros for that? Wow. Anyways, great job on the machete, though.
I mean.. yeah. I think it was worth it 😄 Thank you!
Likely had to haggle down from 15 euro too
@@VladdyMoose no he said 7€ right away 😄
@@DrHutOfHandcraft well now you should have offered him 4.50 and a high five.
@@VladdyMoose 😄
Holy crap, that handle was terrible
I hope you mean the old one lol🙃😄
@@DrHutOfHandcraftof course 😊, the new handle is gorgeous.
it looks like your drilling speed is way too high, metal shavings should not be powder, also push harder while drilling at a slower speed to get better results.
I drilled with about 1500rpm and it was a 6,5mm drill. Or do you mean the chamfering?
U didn’t temper the blade it will bend with every cut
I didn’t need to temper the blade, since I did not harm the previous heat treatment.
He wasn't forging a new blade, so tempuring would just be an astetic choice. He essentially didn't do anything more than cleaning up the blade and sharpening it. Of course I'm referencing the blade itself, not the knife in whole.
