In this video I restored an old brass lighter which I bought from a private guy online about 1 1/2 years ago. He told me that he found it in the basement of his grandfathers house while he was renovating it.
I don't really know why I didn't restore it before, I kind of forgot about it. But now, finally it was time and I am very happy with the result, tell me what you think in the comments!
The work on the project took about 15 hours (inclusive filming) plus about 14 hours of editing.
If you are willing to support me leave a comment, subscribe and share my work, I really appreciate and it helps me a lot!
I hope you will have some fun watching the video! If you have any further questions on the process, tools, material or else write a comment, I will try my best to answer your questions.
Until next time :)

Antique WW2 brass lighter restoration I Dr. Hut of Handcraft - บันเทิง
Thanks for posting this video. Of a list of about 30 or so restorers we used to watch regularly, you are the only one still posting. The lighter came out very well, well done.
Thank you so much for your support, glad you liked the result!
I love all of the old UNIQUE lighters once produced. They are so plain now. Even Zippos.
Glad you liked it!
@@DrHutOfHandcraft the only scary part is the flame size. Lol I know that has nothing to do with you; just the way they were designed.
@@NolaGal2601 Yep that’s actually a little scary haha
@@DrHutOfHandcraft just protect the eyebrows!! Lolol
Hello All, From The UK👋
Hi
Nice restoration! That lighter should last a long time between fuelings.
Thank you!
Hello mister beautiful restoration beautifully restored good job
Thank you!
Three wheels at the bottom... My first intention was a tiny workshop-vac !😂
😂😂
I dunno, I think it looked better with the circular legs and the more precisely right-angled looking cap. That multi-threaded piece was awesome though
Thank you for your comment!
Turned out great! 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you my friend 🙏🏼
Great work sir. Love how you remade and recut that threaded piece.
Thank you my friend!
Great job Doc. You are one of the best restorers out there. 😁
Thank you, much appreciated! 🙏🏼
Amazing, dude! Really beautiful work!!! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thank you mate, I appreciate it! Stay safe 🙏🏼
Yesss! He’s back 💙👍
🥲🙏🏼🙏🏼
A work of art!
Thank you so much 🙏🏼
Always get the willies when people put their fingers near a lathe chuck like this 😱
😅
I very much enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Thank you!
Amazing Job my best friend!
cant wait for the next restoration!
❤️❤️ Thank you! 🫶
Nice.
Thank you 😄
Nicely done sir. Between the thin metal and small parts, there wasn’t much material for you to work with. The little feet were kind of ugly. The lighter looks far better without them. Great job!
Thank you very much! I also didn’t like the feet, there were kind of weird and didn’t really fit the whole appearance. Glad you liked the video 🙂
❤❤❤❤❤
❤️
Herrlich ❤

Belo restauro, valeu a pena
🙏🏼🙏🏼
Looked like someone was wanting it to look like some type of vacuum with wheels on the bottom you didn't replace
Maybe yes 😄
You cpuld also make a cap to go over the top,
I could have but I decided not to because it originally only had the cap were the wick is
I'M SUCH AN IDIOT!! 🤣🤣🤣 I had to rewind the wick removal and watch it twice to understand the "John" reference! 🤣🤣🤣🤦🏼♂️
Edit: finished watching -- that is a beautiful restoration! What fluid did you use? It looks like alcohol.
😂😂
Thank you, glad you liked the video!
It was just lighter fluid, the one I used is with gasoline.
Forgot to clean the inside of the lighter
Ehm no I actually cleaned the inside of the lighter on the lathe which is also shown in the video 😄
A video from Dr. Hut makes everything a little lighter. (See what I did there? 😅)
😂😂🫶 Thank you my friend 🙏🏼
I see what you did there.
