If Tonberry from Final Fantasy isn't on this list, I'm confused. There are few enemies like this guy that looks like he's a pushover but when you fight him, he quickly minces your party to bits...

There was an enemy in Final Fantasy XI online called a chigoe, which were tiny beetles, almost impossible to see that could one-shot you even at high level. Unlike most enemies in the game, their creature nametag was hidden until they attacked which made them even harder to see than they already were.

    Other options:
    1. The rats from Plague Tale. They swarm en mass and can literally strip you to nothing in an instant. Very similar to the scarab beetles in The Mummy franchise really. Yes, they can be repelled by fire but amass with a vengeance once your flame fizzes out.
    2. The severed hands from Blood also prove troublesome as well because they follow you literally everywhere and will strangle you.
    3. The undead boy from The Tale Of Henry Bishop offers similar problems to the severed hands in his relentless pursuit of you through the game’s first level. However, if he catches you, he will literally start to munch on you which can end your character in only two attempts.
    4. The worms from Splatterhouse 1 and 2. While being not especially fast, their small size means that you can easily miss them and once they latch onto Rick, they can gnaw through his health like a wood chipper through a piece of cedar.
    5. The compies from Jurassic Park The Game on Mega Drive. These were the absolute worst back in the day, save for perhaps the raptors. These things would zero in on Alan Grant and perform a lion impression on his throat. Only after a great deal of struggle would Alan at least be able to remove the compy. Much like a piranha fish, the compy is pretty ineffectual unless in a group. However , it can create enough of a distraction for a larger dinosaur to make you its lunch. The last thing you want is to have an aggressive little lizard thing giving you a hickey when you’re attempting to get past a T-Rex.

The only Zelda title where attacking Cuccos won't cause the CUCCO REVENGE SQUAD to attack Link is TWILIGHT PRINCESS! Oddly, after attacking a Cucco a few times, Link will oddly briefly gain control of the Cucco he was attacking!
Also, Cuccos are effectively invulnerable to attack & the only way to avoid the REVENGE SQUAD in most games is to enter a building or other area!

From the moment you first enter the Moria Mines, there is a good chance the first enemy you'll fight is an urchin, small pixelated creatures that glide across the ground. I loved Dead Space 1, still replay it to this day. I stopped playing Dead Space 2 the second I walked into the nursery. Horror + children = nightmares.

No mention of the Flood Spore, on anything below hard they aren't a huge threat and on Halo CE you can cut through them with a Magnum, but Halo 2-3's version isn't so easily dispatched as it'll instant kill a unshielded player if they get too close, and that's if they don't res a Flood Combat Form/turn something into a combat form.

Old school gamer who knows the worst small enemies who cause more headaches than any other is Castlevania's Flea man / Hunchback. Those little bastards (along with Medusa heads) were the worst small enemies.
