    Most authentic I’ve seen on TH-cam. Kirsh makes it otherwise it’s just another cake! Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe.

    • @mavishmazhar3024
      @mavishmazhar3024 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What if I don't have kirsh in my country, can you suggest any other non alcoholic alternative

    • @NYSESTRA
      @NYSESTRA 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mavishmazhar3024 I really can’t think of a non alcohol substitute for Kirschwasser. Keep in mind Kirsch is pungent not really sweet like some liqueurs or brandys.

    • @Le_Pete
      @Le_Pete 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mavishmazhar3024 you can leave it out, for even here in Germany not everyone likes it in there. But make sure you use sour cherries. Not the sweet ones. A few drops of bitter almond extract can somewhat imitate the Kirschwasser taste. But again, bitter almonds not the sweet ones!

    thank you for scraping the bowl so thoroughly i love when bakers do that in videos instead of leaving so much batter behind 🫣

      Even if you don't see me scrapping a bowl like that, you can be sure I do it when the camera is off. I often cut the video there so people don't get bored but I never let any batter go to waste :-)

    I had made this delicious cake when I was younger. Everything was the same except we had melted chocolate over the cherries in the middle layer and cooled it in the frig. for about a hour or so when the chocolate was set up enough and brought the cake back out to finish the third layer with cherries and whip cream.
    Everyone raved about and still do to this day. I had made it a couple of times now as an adult and still get that was the best cake I had ever eaten. Making this beauty is a labor of love. I only make it for special occasions.

Then got the second cake ready for a baby shower on Saturday. Both cakes were just amazing and I had so many comments about how fresh and nice it tasted. A few comments were how much better it tasted than store bought ones. So now, I am very happy, so thank you Barbara x

    Thank you SO much for this. My husband is from Germany and the Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte is something he really misses, along with good bread. We've ordered "Black Forest Cakes" from local bakers, but it's always just a typical American style chocolate cake with disturbingly sweet icing and some cherries on top. I read that dutch processed cocoa is key and I also ordered some expensive cherries soaked in brandy from france. The cake is now made and is marinating. I'm looking forward to trying it tomorrow. The entire process would likely have been a great cataclysm if I didn't stumble upon your extremely helpful video. Again, thank you!

    It looks spectacular. A Black Forest cake was a stable favourite at birthdays when I was growing up! Such a treat. I would like to suggest when "curling" or scraping the slab of chocolate with a knife to get the shavings, you can use a potato peeler instead directing the peeler on the side of the chocolate bar. It gives lovely swirls or shavings too👍🏻🙂

    This cake is my all time favourite cake and it's been years since I had a piece. You can't get this in Australia. Definitely going to try it out. Oh yes you were right by the way. The more liquid cake mix is a batter and the thicker mixes like for bread is dough. I saw youtube once where they had a couple of lengths of thin wood like chopsticks but a bit thicker that they arranged at the sides of the cake at the height they wanted to cut it. They used this as a guide to make it easier to cut the cake to the height they wanted it. .

      So sorry to hear. It is very important to beat the eggs long enough like 20 minutes. Also, make sure the baking powder is mixed with the four and when you add the dry ingredients, make sure to be very careful. The air in the eggs must stay in there to only fold the dry ingredients in. I hope this time it will work! ❤️

    I just followed your recipe to make your cake. It is delicious. A couple of observations that left me uncertain were the amount of water used to dissolve the gelatin and how long you warmed it in the microwave. I guessed, but I wasn’t comfortable. It worked our well. Thank you so much for sharing your recipes. Sehr lecker vielen danke!

      I am actually planning a video about how to handle Gelatine because so many feel insecure about how to prepare and use it.

    Im living in Germany for 40 yrs. now. I find your recipes fantastic. Although I speak German fluently I wouldn’t have the courage to do a channel in German.
    Just one thing, the „ch“ in cherry is pronounced like the dance cha cha cha I’m normally English speaking. When u say sherry ( Sherry is a Portwein from Spain.) much luck and success with your channel. I love it. 🌈

      @@MyGermanRecipes no I’m a former South African under British influence. So my English is very British although my family say I’ve acquired a slight German accent over the years. 😊. Continue with your channel. I love the originality of your recipes. I presume u live in America.

      @@MyGermanRecipes I made this for Thanksgiving. I had a bit of an incident when cooking the sour cherries....the juice got too thick. I'm thinking I probably didn't watch the pot close enough! Regardless, it was a great hit, almost everyone wanted a second piece. Thanks so much!
