The changes we’re making to the land are filled with hard work but they’re all going to pay off. Building our own home here at the cabin in the woods brings us so much joy as we learn and challenge ourselves to try new things. To think that this is going to be our THIRD summer in the woods is absolutely wild…when we first moved to the woods, neither of us had any idea where we’d end up but we’re both so proud of how far we’ve come. FUTURE NOTE: I believe you installed tongue and groove wall paneling. If so, you only need to nail through the “tongue” to hold it in place that way you don’t need to nail through the face of it and have to fill all the nail holes. Please consider for future projects and save yourself some time. Take care and keep it up!

Hi guys, I must say that your videos are so easy to watch and enjoy. You are partners and professionals. Your minds are constantly in flux and are so adaptable to changes, sometimes on the fly. You recognize when the budget needs to be bumped up and you’re not afraid to ask contractors for help or suggestions. You’re easy going enough guys that a crew will let you work with them to minimize your costs. They’ve seen your work ethic and know that you definitely will help to do the job right. If there is any issue with a project you both do your research and come to the table with informed decisions. If not, the banter between you, other than idiot, is generally pretty tame, with just an eye roll.
I am so very proud of all you both have accomplished and I must say that I love Todd’s double entendres. He is so quick witted. I sometimes have to relisten because I can tell by Tyler’s face that something has been said. It really shows in the real time how much effort all the building and projects take and it's very refreshing to see that between other things where things just seemingly appear without any effort. My parents had a lovely place in Maine on 50 acres, and they called their outhouse the Partridge House. You four should come up with an appropriate name. They also had a bucket/scoop with lime to sprinkle down the hole and it never stunk! Looks great. 🥳🐾

That in itself is a freaking miracle! And yet, you put so many hours a day working on your home. Well, it’s not a home, it’s your land. You’ve build so much there already….I just can’t believe it! I just have to let you know that you two have really inspired me to put in my own little garden I don't have a very big yard but I do have one little corner that I can grow some veggies in and I do have some big planters that I'm going to try to grow tomatoes in my son is outside telling it and working the ground for me right now for mother's Day so thank you for inspiring me to get up off my rear end and get outside and enjoy the sunshine and the dirt and the pride I'm going to have and growing veggies for my family even if it's not a lot it's going to be something to do and a lot of fun for me 🥰

I almost fell over when Tyler referred the outhouse as the “shit house”, my husband served 20 years in the Army and it me years to get him to stop calling the bathroom the shit house. And watch the boys around your butter crisp lettuce, Leon was always sharing everything with our dog, Pixie and she ate the entire crop of butter crisp lettuce and all the blueberries off the bush. 😆
Hahaha everyone always comments about how they don't understand how the deer don't eat our garden and it's definitely because Charlie is there first and on guard to make sure no one takes a bite!

Favorite moment: 'What's wrong with crown moulding?' 'It's an outhouse!' I laughed so hard I cried! Now that's out of my system, the outhouse looks great, with or without the crown moulding. I love watching your problem solving and how your long-term vision comes to fruition.

A quick planter is one of those galvanized troughs. Drill a few holes. Put in some rocks then the soil. So easy and not unattractive. I have a friend whose raised garden are 4 of them in the backyard in St. Albert.
Just yesterday, I could see the Tetons from my front window here in Idaho but today there’s too much snowfall to see them or even to get out for my hike, and I had already woken up feeling a little blue and missing my puppy girl this morning, so this upload is really very needed and wanted. I love your progress! It’s actually an inspiration to me.
I’ve been in a shipping container shower house on a friend’s vacation property and I had no cell reception in there whatsoever. If it’s the same for you guys, that’ll keep your guests from squat-surfing and hogging the outhouse. 😂
I had a closet in my old-old house lined with retail slat wall from the former Robert Ham company and I thought I was so clever. I tired of it quickly and put up a shelf and rod. 😬
Your garden plans are very exciting! I can’t put anything out until the end of the month because it keeps snowing off and on and we expect night freezes for a while yet, but I’m having a pleasant time planning. It’s very important for as many of us as possible to grow as much as possible, because of the projected shortages and the food price increases.
Doing a thing right takes time! I’m a very impatient person naturally but my type A tendencies compel me to dot all Is and cross all Ts, and that’s teaching me (slowly) to breathe through the process and accept the variables. Don’t apologize for taking the time to do things right! You both work so hard. Give yourselves some leeway. What you’re doing is very important and it can’t be rushed. 😘

OMG, that's the sweetest out house ever! I recall having to use one of wood, the interior light came from a hole on the door. Lighting came from a candle that you lit once inside. It didn't matter if it was 100 degrees outside or a foot of snow on the ground. You guys always bring a smile to my face. Love all that you're doing, it is inspiring.
