This is what a transfer is like at Doha International Airport (Hamad International Airport) in Qatar. If you have a connection flight at Hamad International Airport in Qatar this video will give you an idea of what it is like and at the same time give you an inside tour of Doha Airport (Hamad International Airport).
This video takes you on the transfer walk beginning at the gate our Watar Airways flight from Copenhagen arrives at and ends at the gate where our Qatar Airways flight to Penang, Malaysia departs from (our connection flight). we arrived at and ending at with Qatar Airways and ending at the gate we departed from also with Qatar Airways (Our connection flight). On our transfer walk through Doha Airport on our way to our Qatar Airways connection flights we pass the "Playground" sculpture by Tom Otterness, take you into Hamad International Airport main departure hall where we view some of the many Duty Free Shops, toy shops the Doha Airport Teddy Bear called Lamp Bear by Swiss artist Urs Fische. From the Hamad International Airport Main Departure Hall we make our way upstairs to the Airport Shuttle Train which transports us to the E Gates Terminal area where our flight departs from. We eventually arrive at our gate where the flight is just beginning to board.

Thanks for this. I am petrified of flying and have a solo trip coming up in 6 weeks from the UK-Australia with a transit at Doha. Absolutely dreading the whole thing but this video has put me a little at ease. My layover is 3 hours.. I allowed plenty of time because I am almost always getting lost and have no sense of direction haha!

hello, i feel the same. I am very anxious about finding my transfer gate to Phuket once we land at Doha. Im wondering is it easy enough or is the aiport very big and complicated?
@@firefly-fu3ce it was really straight forward and really easy to navigate, the staff were extremely helpful I’m very much about asking for help if I get overwhelmed/lost etc!!!! Signs were clear and the layout easy to follow. I travelled just days before they banned flights from there during covid. It was actually one of my less stressful travels to be honest, I did not have much time before my next flight too, which is normally a big stressor for me but it was all fine.

Thanks for the video! I am flying Qatar airways from Doha to Brussels in november. 3 and half hour transit at Doha. Quite a long walk from the gate to transfer. Some years back also had a transit at Doha. The airport was smaller then , renovations happening here and there. Hope the security check is quick.

I have been really Lucky transiting through Doha, 8 times in the last 2 years and everything has been walking distance no trains involved.
As always I'm loving what you do, very well filmed.
I was really impressed in Doha by the well-dressed staff everyone was immaculate and some of them in lovely suits.
In the gent's toilet I wanted to use the deposit department and had to wait until someone exited, the toilet attendant would not allow me to go in until he had cleaned the toilet thoroughly after the last guy left. Amazing.

This was our second visit and we liked the airport too, it is big and spacious. The staff are indeed helpful and as you say smart and well dressed, a very professional looking team! Im 17 and will soon be having a connecting flight at doha airport. Not having much of a solo experience travelling internationally, im scared because the airport is so big. And i also am anxious to ask for help so i'll probably be lost until i find my gate. Hope it all goes smoothly😬

@@lesego20 2 hours before i Boarding i was told that Indians arent allowed at Kenya yet (connecting airport). So i had to contact my travel agent and flight was rescheduled via Adis Ababa. It was easier but i Missed the opportunity to visit Doha haha
I just returned from Doha I flew from dublin with a connecting flight to iraq .everything is quick efficent and clear. You will have no problem I also was on my own

I was at Doha for two times, first time for Barcelona and the second was for New Delhi. Convenient transfers though.

I had two 8 hours transits in this lovely airport, and I highly recommend you check out the pool, spa and have a 2 hour long massage. It is not free but worth every penny

I missed my connection at Doha due to my first flight landing late. Noone told me how long it would take to walk from one end of the airport to the other it was my first time at Doha ended up costing me an extra $800 to flight later that day( Qatar would not just rebook me in a later flight, even thought that fight, was not fully booked.. I also missed a connection flight in Ukraine. Then Ukraine Airlines in formed me that due to missing my connection they were cancelling my return with them in three weeks as well . Not the best experience .
My advice is don't book short transfer/ layover times unless your very familiar with the airport.

How much transfer time did you have and how much do you recommend?

Make your self familiar with how long it will take to get from one terminal to the next before you book.
It's a huge air port if you are not familiar with the layout it's not so easy to get where you need to in a hurry.

I'm regularly travel by emirates and transit in Dubai ( it's nice airport too). I Will try Qatar next time coz their tickets seems cheaper than Emirates. Thanks for the video.
We are still waiting to try Emirates for the first time but can say that we have been satisfied with the onboard service of Qatar Airways (a few issues though with legroom on some of their aircraft). @@Balochonmove Thanks! I have a flight and a layover in Doha (50mins), i was hoping id doesn't take long :)
@Ying Srivanich it is plenty of time. We arrived, and soon after you walk there's the security check (which really is fast), and after you walk a few steps to the platform to find your new gate number for your flight. My flight was delayed, but regardless, everything was finished in max 20mins. :)

Hi. Thanks for posting this. Very informative video. I’m thinking of taking a Qatar flight and transferring in DOH. but what if the connection time is only 60-90 minutes?
Do you think that’s enough time to pass through security and walk to the gate for the connecting flight? Considering that flights begin boarding 30 mins prior to departure - so in reality I’ll only have 30 to 60 minutes to make it to my flight.
What do you think? Based from your experience?

Be careful, at this airport as they don't put up departure terminals until late. It's a big airport and they use buses to move you from the plane to the terminal, if you don't have your wits about you i could see how you could miss a connection.
Once I never did security it’s not necessary but I had 5 hours so I did security but my 55 minutes transfer no security

I'm worn out after watching this....such a huge airport....and so much walking. I find your term travelator interesting. We call them moving sidewalks.
The OED calls them travelator so travelator it is.
Hi there Daniel, nice hearing from you again and thanks for watching our video. The walk from Gate to Gate was long but did not feel that long, we are very used to it nowadays. Persons with walking disabilities should however think about organizing some form of assistance at the airport. The travelator has many names according to Wikipedia (depending on which form of English is being spoken). I (Maxi) always forget by which name to call it ;-) Wiki writes, "A moving walkway, also known as an autowalk, moving sidewalk, moving pavement, people-mover, travolator, or travelator, is a slow-moving conveyor mechanism that transports people across a horizontal or inclined plane over a short to medium distance. Hi there daveo., nice hearing from you. This was our second visit to this airport and we liked it, because it is big and spacious. Last time we visited (our other Doha Airport video is in our Doha Playlist) the train was not yet active as they were testing it so it was nice to try it this time. We had a few minutes to spare at before the boarding, we just edited out some scenes where we went to the shop etc. Did we say that it was the second best airport in the world, we could not find where we said that in the video. The second best Airport after Changi Airport in Singapore is according to Skytrax is South Korea's Incheon Airport. A video of our time at Incheon Airport is available to watch in the Airport Playlist. I (Maxi) from childhood have always been an aviation enthusiast and have also years ago enjoyed Flight Sim Games and actually even started Private Pilots Training in South Africa, way back (it was expensive so it was never completed).
