Maserati I remember used to produce some of the supercars that everyday wealth would purchase for you back in the day. They then decided Luxury sedans were the new thing. As a owner of one of the more benign sedans the 4wd was sure footed and i felt handled like my Porsche turbo but not as fast. The interior is covered by luxury leather and fabrics throughout however. The total package was fun to drive with a very sport sounding engine. It was not a typical sedan it was a sedan that sounded like a ferrari. The brakes were excellent and the power was fun but not outstanding. The devaluation was disastrous but after owning one I understand why people put up with the value loss. Unless you have wealth you probably will never own one. But you will miss a sublime experience as when you talk to people everyone will ask you about it. Maserati is a universal WOW.
I think the exhaust note sounds fine- we’re just used to getting brainwashed by a Ferrari’s high note that anything lower than that apparently just isn’t good enough
Much better visual presence than the McLarens, love it. As always I think that motoring journalists are just a little to obsessed with the exhaust sound, sounds fine as is….
I've never really been a big Maserati fan overall and always valued Ferrari a lot higher but the MC20...definitely THE one Supercar atm in my opinion. Stunning to look at, phenomenal techwise and finally a Maserati that is worth the badge again!

Maserati is one of those companies that I'm shocked has survived because who the hell actually pays the abominable brand tax they command while putting up with the terrible reliability and eating the massive depreciation? The MC20 is definitely a "We are here" statement and I hope it's a turning point for the company.

Loved this review, the MC20 is definitely the rebirth of the Maserati brand. I think with an aftermarket exhaust system better sound would be archived and the ears would be much happier…… Also big shoutout to Alex, super chill dude on camera, love his energy. Saw it in the flesh for the first time yesterday, such a beauty, living proof that modern supercars can be amazing. The interior is a bit of a letdown, maybe in a brighter spec, it'll look much more premium. The noise is alright, its going in all the right places, the exhaust just needs a bit of tinkering. Wish this bodes well for the Maserati brand, they have the potential to be the Italian Porsche, hope that PSA/FCA merger is gonna take the brand places.
Yeah Maserati is the perfect brand to contrast Porsche but it's been grossly mismanaged. Ideally it should have gone along with Ferrari when FCA IPO'd it
I fucking love the MC20 - it looks incredible and I REALLY want to drive one. I'm sure the noise can be helped a bit with an aftermarket exhaust but it's a limitation of the engine sadly
Regarding the boot... the MC20 probably uses FCA electronics, so the car needs to be in Park before you can open the boot. I think it's a safety thing, as you can't accidentally open the boot while in gear. Also, no one can open your boot while you're sitting in traffic and steal your luggage LOL

One of very few midengined cars I like the design on. I actually saw a camouflaged Roadster on the A1 between Bologna and Modena 4 weeks ago. Looked good, was driving so I didn't get a picture. Nice video.

Everything about this car SCREEEEEAAAAMS ALFA ROMEO. Same layout as 4c, not same absolutely IDENTICAL. Just V6. But it is beautiful. Very Very beautiful
Agree 100%. It’s a real shame this isn’t an Alfa Romeo 6C as it was originally intended. It’s so obviously an Alfa that’s been rebadged, they’ve even kept the Alfa steering wheel, paddles etc.

Love the video Sam. Saw an Mc20 on the road here in Chicago and it looked awesome. The sporty but elegant design will age quite well. The road presence was off the charts.

I own a late Merak SS and have learned the MC20 90 degree V6 is somewhat of a continuation of that old design. They sound incredibly similar as well due to that unique firing order required for 90 degree V6. Love the lineage.
Their is not coincidence it feels like the 4C. Underneath it is the 4C. It has exactly the same chassis. Alfa had a lot left when production of the 4C stopped. That's why also all the controls are at the same place. Look at the wind screen, it's the same. This car was ment to be the new 6C. A 4C tub, with the Giulia Q engine. In the end the directors of FCA decided (only one year before release) it was better to put it on the market as a Maserati. A shame for me, because the price could go x2 of that of an Alfa. But all the bits and parts it's just an Alfa.

You're not very impressed with almost anything you drive, these days. So, please satisfy your audience and impart your driving impressions, taking into account that noisy exhausts are no longer cool or acceptable. From a technical point of view, road cars have never been better. How about getting into electric cars? We have the Cayman/Boxster EV, an electric Lotus and Alpine to look forward to, as well as the electric version of this Maserati MC20.

Sounds like a muzzled Ford GT. Try as they might, not many manufacturers have gotten a V6 to sound good. Especially turbocharged. Straight or flat six is a different story. Still a great car though.
Noise or the quality of the noise??? Hate loud cars irrespective of what they are! Or maybe the drivers who don’t care about the racket they make. Those who wake up neighbours etc. but a good sound I like. TH-camrs seem to be driven by the sound. Sounds okay to me🤷♂️
I had one on demo for a week although it grew on me. It felt like a 570s and this one listed at 250k. The engine note is like an old school chipped diesel. Luggage space is rubbish and above the exhaust so everything is red hot. Good video though. My summary “good at 150k but never 250k”
It just doesn't look dramatic enough, although I might change that view if I saw it in person I guess. Sounds good from outside though it seems - vaguely remiscent of 911 GT2 cars at Le Mans.
they have fallen in to the Honda NSX problem the price... they shoud have gone after the R8/ 992 gts type. but they are way over prices and ferrari f8/812 money

Great looks, but too bad Maserati fudged the weight of the car by 450 lbs! Maserati said it weighs 3,307 lbs, but Car & Driver weighed it at 3,757 lbs!
I would love to see someone do an exhaust upgrade on one and have you re-look at it? You must be able to unleash a bit of noise out of it, even if it's a 6 cylinder, I believe. Even Novitec tried and It's still not blowing me away.
Of course eventually the maserati reliability will be questioned. Even if when it comes to Italian sports cars reliability isn't what people are looking for.

I think the missing piece is indeed that screaming engine note but I'm sure there will be aftermarket solutions to that.
I saw my first MC20 two days ago in Henley (same blue colour) and it looked magnificent. It also sounded really good too

Personally I really love the design. Sam did you know you can have it in Corsa mode but knock the suspension back one so its not as harsh.
For me it looks more like a japanese car! Simple and efficient
MC20 is such a different supercar than others. I don't know how or why, maybe the design? Such a great car.
