She explained that behind each painting there is a story, I feel that Angelina embraced that idea, to be able to convey a song properly it is necessary to have a personal interpretation of the story. So, Angelina is indeed an artist, with a hugh palate of rich colours and textures - constantly striving to become better and better. Angelina sang this song to open the concert at Kurbadhagen on July 10th - it took me very much by surprise - setting the tone for a evening full of passion and emotion - our little girl has grown up - she's ready to take on the world!
I don't think even Angelina and the musicians knew this song. She did what she did when she was 11-12 in the living room, where with the guitarist she chose a song, they listened to it twice, then she said: follow me. Here it seems to do the same. She reads the lyrics and checks if the guitarist is following her in the right way. I don't know how many others in the world could do it.
If she was not so sweet and humble this is an instant transportation to something like a Woodstock performance! (Hendrix on guitar to support) Younger people don't realize completely what she is capable of! Singing like the old blues, jazz, gospel and soul singers or just as easy switch to contempory styles! Hello again, Valerie. Great reaction 🙂 This was her opening performance both on this concert(July 7th) and the concert on July 10th. I was there on the latter, and Angelina took us all by surprise. No one had heard her perform this before, not even a snippet on TikTok or Instagram. The style of the song is new for her, and the way she sang it is also new, so she had a lot to show us and tell us 🙂 Personally I think that the lyrics here is the main reason why she chose it. "Mount Everest ain't got nothing on me, I'm on top of the world" It's as if she wanted to tell us something very important, at least how she feels right now. A bold choice by Angelina, normally a VERY modest girl. I think it's time for a somewhat different Angelina to emerge. She needs to set herself up for what's about to happen soon. I have absolutely NO doubt that she will remain extremely humble, that's her nature, but still I kinda look at this performance as a "Hey, look at me! I can do THIS, too !!" This song choice (terrible song IMO) is so surprising. But she changed the offensive wording, and really brought a positive vibe (doesn't she always) to a song that is very negative (IMO). It was a Very Bold choice, and I think your explanation is plausible---Here I am world! If I was picking songs I wanted Angelina to cover, I assure you, this song would not be on the list. But she is not in this world to live up to my expectations. She's charting her own course, and that's exactly as it should be. And I will always support her. You are right. Angelina is absolutely not imitating. She sings the way she feels is right for the song. If the original artists sings it the same way, they hit it spot on! Lucky for them!😄
This is another example of Angelina bringing a new song to some of the older crowd in her fanbase that may not have otherwise heard it. It is also her making a statement that she is not just old jazz tunes, and Adele type ballads. She's got range as an artist, and we are going to hear lots of different styles from her. As others have said, if anyone has not heard the original song, they should listen to it. It really helps to expand on this performance. Angelina took something that was already a pretty cool and original sounding, and added her own unique flair to it to made it into something even better. Another great reaction/analysis, Valerie. I especially love those high pitch runs & dueling with the guitarist. I never heard of the song or the original artist, so I immediately listened to it. Angelina took a poor song, IMO, & turned it into a Masterpiece, as she usually does.
I think there was some problems with the sound mixing of the guitar in the Sandefjord concert. I observed the guitarist was adjusting the volume constantly during the concert and also the drummer was making signs to the sound mixers. Unfortunate that the sound mixing was not as good as in Kongsberg, because all the band and Angelina performed much better in this last concert.

She follows the melody line in a way, adds a lot of her own and gave it a jazzy R&B twist. I love how she tries out all of sorts of genres and music styles and makes surprising choices (to me) and I hope she keeps doing that to keep it fresh and exciting to herself. The bits I loved the most were those ‘Iiiiii’m on top of the world, iiiiiiii’m on top of the world’ and those high pitched runs on ‘woo hoo’. Yeah it was a little short (just like the original) but I’ll just hit the repeat button and listen to it again :-)

Hi Valerie - great reaction as usual. On the 10th July I watched her do a 30 minute sound check - like a mini concert. She did not rehearse this. Such a shock when she sang it. The whole concert was outstanding - what you don't see is how much she loved to be onstage. Unbelievable interaction with the audience - had to stop waving as she would always wave back. I was wearing a t shirt with her face from when she was young, AJ leaned forwards and said wow - all these people having my face on their t shirts. Met her lovely mum who was shocked at how many people had travelled so far to see her (AJ thanked us for that) and that all the concerts were sold out.

The contrast between Angelina the young woman being interviewed and Angelina the Singer is incredible. The former is kind of shy, seemingly humble, and understated. The latter is so out there, confident and talented beyond belief! Seems like when she said in an interview that when she sings she goes into another place is very true. I agree .. EXCEPT for this song! Here she has a marvellous back-and-forth with the guitar player, which is given much less time at Kurbadhagen.

Another great reaction/analysis, Valerie. I especially love those high pitch runs & dueling with the guitarist. I never heard of the song or the original artist, so I immediately listened to it. Angelina took a poor song, IMO, & turned it into a Masterpiece, as she usually does.
@Concerned Citizen Me too. I don't know why she changed it - I was there on both concerts.
I think there was some problems with the sound mixing of the guitar in the Sandefjord concert. I observed the guitarist was adjusting the volume constantly during the concert and also the drummer was making signs to the sound mixers. Unfortunate that the sound mixing was not as good as in Kongsberg, because all the band and Angelina performed much better in this last concert.

She follows the melody line in a way, adds a lot of her own and gave it a jazzy R&B twist. I love how she tries out all of sorts of genres and music styles and makes surprising choices (to me) and I hope she keeps doing that to keep it fresh and exciting to herself.
The bits I loved the most were those ‘Iiiiii’m on top of the world, iiiiiiii’m on top of the world’ and those high pitched runs on ‘woo hoo’. Yeah it was a little short (just like the original) but I’ll just hit the repeat button and listen to it again :-)
Labyrinth looks like a beginner after listening Angelina. He cannot manage the high notes. Therefore the studio version is full of autotunes.

* In 2014 on Norway's got Talent the female judge said to Angelina : " YOU ARE MUSIC !!! "... earlier whilst being interviewed Angelina commented that her dream is to be a Superstar , which in my humble opinion she already is ... and actually has been for quite a few years.
Try as we may, going back in history even , Angelina has at all ages been way ahead of everyone who has ever been in the vocal game ... She is METICULOUS in her art... and in all likelihood is very close to honouring that judge's prophecy... and so too honouring her own statement .
We pray for the Blessing of The Lord to be upon her , that she stay humble , and for her to not get caught up in that deadly empty trap of glitz , glamour and fame... STAY STRONG GIRL !!! 🥰

Hi Valerie - great reaction as usual. On the 10th July I watched her do a 30 minute sound check - like a mini concert. She did not rehearse this. Such a shock when she sang it. The whole concert was outstanding - what you don't see is how much she loved to be onstage. Unbelievable interaction with the audience - had to stop waving as she would always wave back. I was wearing a t shirt with her face from when she was young, AJ leaned forwards and said wow - all these people having my face on their t shirts. Met her lovely mum who was shocked at how many people had travelled so far to see her (AJ thanked us for that) and that all the concerts were sold out.
That must have been special

The contrast between Angelina the young woman being interviewed and Angelina the Singer is incredible. The former is kind of shy, seemingly humble, and understated. The latter is so out there, confident and talented beyond belief!

Always like your reactions. You may be interested in this.... I came across Angelina's other social media page yesterday and scrolled through it. It's quite remarkable. There are photos and pics to click on. From her 10 years of global travels, performances and connections to famous people. All of them have comments from people everywhere. It's quite amazing how much she has done in the last 10 years. Her reach and experience is far more than I had imagined. Check it out. Quite fascinating.
She's a dual personality. Before and after she sings, she's this humble and shy person. Then she starts singing and becomes this raspy kick ass jazz diva. She is not from this planet. The world has got to protect this treasure.
She's already did that since young age. When not singing, she was a normal 7, 8, 9 yo child. Once she open her mouth, she's a pro.

You will see, if you do the same, that she did change one word and that in itself is a part of her style. Instead of detracting from the power of the song, the word change keeps the songs power by moving the focus back to the message. That's my take, anyway.

there is way too much angelina jordan on this channel and a massive lack of other very very brilliant artists like susanne sundfor, anna von hausswolff, agnes obel or ane brun. i can understand that it's appealing for a voice teacher to get into her, but i'm getting bored of all this angelina-content as if she was the only one who can sing. it's a shame to miss out the other artists i've mentioned. really a shame.
