Rules based orders. Two models: (1) Parents: They write the rules and the child obeys OR ELSE. Ditto schools: They write the rules icluding assignmentsand tests and the student obeys OR ELSE. Meanwhile, the rest of the analogy holds: There are the laws of the political society which don't prohibit nearly so many things and offer the powerless person more rights. In prep school I was subjected to 2 Inquisitorial Proceedings and I did not have 5th Amenndment rights. Parents, teachers and the Biden administration: 3 Bullies.

Solomon Islands, a sovereign archipelago in the Pacific Ocean, has signed a security agreement with China. This agreement allows Chinese ships to call at ports on the islands, and Chinese security forces (at the request of local authorities) can provide support to maintain law and order. And, above all, in the protection of the local Chinese diaspora.
However, this completely legitimate and logical agreement provoked a firestorm of discontent from the United States and its main regional ally, Australia. In Washington, Canberra (as well as in Tokyo, Wellington, London) they began to say that this agreement is only a prologue and a pretext for the deployment of a full-fledged Chinese military base in the Solomon Islands.
The base, to which China and, consequently, the islands themselves supposedly have no rights, since the West perceives this deployment as a direct threat.
"There will not be a Chinese naval base in our region, on our doorstep," said Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
The question immediately arises: what exactly does Australia have in mind as "our doorstep"? What specific distance is so sensitive for Australia -and therefore for the West in general- that the deployment of Chinese troops in that part of the planet is perceived as a danger?
From the Solomon Islands to the Australian coast there are almost 1,500 kilometers, that is, almost the same from the Russian borders to Munich or Egypt.
Let's imagine for a second that Vladimir Putin says that there should be no military bases of foreign states on the territory of Germany. That the eastern part of the Mediterranean must be cleared of the presence of forces hostile to Russia. How would Western countries react to this? When Vladimir Putin politely asked the Americans and Europeans not to deploy troops on the Russian threshold (and in the understanding of the Russian Federation, the "threshold" is directly the land borders), that is , in Georgia, Ukraine, and also reject military cooperation with Central Asian countries altogether, these requests were defiantly rejected. Supposedly, they violate the sovereignty of the countries of the post-Soviet space.
Meanwhile, we are talking about the deployment of US troops not fifteen hundred, but zero kilometers from the Russian borders. Or, to be more precise, 450 kilometers from the Kremlin Palace.
And what about the Solomon Islands? Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison also explicitly calls the deployment of a Chinese base on the islands a "red line."
"Of course, we respect the sovereignty of the Solomon Islands, but we also want you to understand that if steps are taken to establish a de facto permanent military presence, the possibility of force projection or [China's] military bases, then we will be very serious. We are concerned and will naturally take action in response,” said Daniel Kritenbrink, Under Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, who recently visited the Solomon Islands.
The United States at least does not deny the option of occupying the islands to prevent the appearance of a Chinese naval base there.
There is no doubt that this occupation in the West will not provoke any sanctions or even condemnation.
The situation around the Solomon Islands shows once again how flawed is the American vision of the current world order that is not based on law, but on rules. Rules, the main of which is the principle "what the United States is allowed, no one else is allowed."

CIA funded the opposition in Solomon and cause massive unrest and riots. Solomon ask Australia for help and Australia intentionally did nothing. that's when Solomon knows they can't side with Anglosaxon anymore and ask China for help. it is silly to talk about Solomon like it started because of China agreement. the China agreement only come into existence because US and Australia was actively undermining the current government.

Not quite a vision. It is the blueprint of tyranny. It has no intention of keeping any laws, even the so-called amorphous rule-based order. RBO is international banditry and lawlessness so long as you kowtow to Washington. If you are in their ever-changing friend list, you can kill as many of the opposition as you wish. They will not only look the other way, they will supply you the arms to do the killing. RBO is a criminal concept.

One observation. The China Defense Minister had release “Global Security Initiative” which calls for indivisible security with your neighboring countries. The concept is simple as that “you alone cannot be safe unless all your neighbors feel safe”. Just take one step back and think about this concept cool-headed. Though it looks like philosophical, but there is ancient wisdom in it as “harmony”.

The increasing number of countries are voicing out to call out the US government and their allies to stop hegemony by stirring up conflicts within/between regions and nations to benefit their 'military industrial complex companies' will one day coming to and end which the basic law of physics indictes - when one force going too strong toward one side will always face an equal or even greater force going the opposite direction. Think tanks have a revolving door with international consultancy firms, and they in turn have revolving doors with central and local governments around the world.
Consultancy firms have been encouraging staff to take up senior management positions in local and central governments to restructure management systems and policies to open up the local and central government income streams to global corporations and replace public servants with global corporate consultants to take over all functions of government. This reduces governments to becoming revenue collection agencies acting on behalf of global corporations. Governments become agencies that contract out functions of government to the private sector leaving governments with no actual capacity to protect the public interest.

Duplicit standpoints as mentioned in the intro as being unprincipled and imoral, is an actual strategy of power as later analysed and euphemized by Robert Greene in such books as 48 Rules of Power. In the cases of might is right resulting in such unprincipled behaviour, it is Rule Nr. 12: "Use selective honesty and generosity to disarm your victim."
By being selectively "generous/honest" and selectively "tough/duplicitous" the wielder of power introduces selective favoratism, a technique which is a signature move in divide and rule/conquer.
"Might is right", means that the strongest side gets to decide and impose.
It is in fact also a strategy to remain largely indifferent to moral values, resulting from a power imbalance in the "systems" in question.
"Might" in one system does not have to care what another system considers fair, or right.
"Right" is solely determined by the might of the wielder of power.

One clear example for me was in Africa,i am a firm believer in unity but not at any price... The 2 examples I will give from my continent are south Sudan and Nigeria. In the 1960's Nigeria went through a most brutal civil war in which the igbo tribe had attempted to secede from Nigeria as they alleged they were marginalised and discriminated against. The west especially Britain sided with the Nigerian government because it was viewed as a friendly state. The igbos did not succeed with their aim of breaking away, but it never died in the hearts of many igbos. Then we go to South sudan which used to be part of The Sudan as it was then called. The black African tribes in The Sudan who were mostly Christian and animist claimed intolerable discrimination from the Arab Muslims who had enslaved and mistreated them for centuries now rose up against the Arabs and waged a brutal civil war to separate fromThe Sudan... During this war America and many in the west sided with the black Africans because the regime in Khartoum was seen as a state sponsor of terror that had once given refuge to Osama bin laden, it was also seen as anti Jewish which clashed with American interests as Israel is a close ally of THE US. So the rules of territorial integrity did not apply here. What came into play was western superpower writ. The same west that drafted these rules are the ones undermining and destroying it.

The foundation of the rules is "liberal capitalism" = freedom for money, not humans. Today democratic governments use billions of taxpayers money on consultants. Big Business Consultants like McKibsey. They always advice governments to "focus on economic growth and privatization . China, Russia and many other countries have, in my view, proved focus on education/ health , stateownership of some natural resources + independent government (not corrupt or dependent on foreign consultants) might be a better way.

    Fabulous discussions!
Pascal, excellent question about the lack of counter think-tanks. That’s a trillion dollar question.
And yes, European leaders are stupid and happy to be subservient to Washington and be manipulated.
The US ruling elites, think-tanks and academia are intoxicated and hopelessly addicted to
world hegemony and all the fat and trimmings that come with it. They’ve literally gone mad.
Our only hope is for the partnership of China and Russia to succeed in realizing a better and fairer vision of the world. This is just a start but an excellent start nonetheless.
The picture will be clearer in a couple of years. If and when BRICS expands to include influential countries from the middle east and Asia, that would be a huge leap forward. When that happens, many European countries will jump ship. That will spell the end of the US empire. Thank God! And I’m speaking as an American.
China is never going to behave like the US empire and the west. Hegemonic tendencies are not in China’s DNA , not in China’s 5,000 years of civilization. China’s guiding philosophies come from Confusion teachings, which is all about harmony, unity, order and being respectful.

And they would never seize other countries territory like the 9-line by which they lay claim over the sovereign territory of over 9 nations and they would never commit genocide in order to sell their organs on the black market like they do to the Wuigers and Folun Gung or House Cristian etc…. Chinese Gummistiefel party is the picture of a perfect harmonious state. Mass murder and territorial aggression aside.

It is just a recent construct made by the americans because they can't claim it as the international order. they also obviously want people to confuse the two (rules based order and international order) for their benefit, thus you hear them combining the tow and now calls them international rules-based order. Given enough time, people will assume they are one and the same.

0:33 If you would see the mighty interest as a Motorcycle Club and you happen to share a backyard with them,
then your agreement will be heavily "relation based", you go along well as long as your interests do not collide.
If you would begin playing loud music 24/7 and the motorcycle club complains and tells you to cease playing music between hours 4pm to 8am and you disregard the wish, then you may find the club will devise a measure to have you stop violating their imposed rule, regardless of what rules some landlord may have set up for the matter. That club may decide to eradicate you if nothing else works. So the label for the video looks incomplete according to what Glenn Diesen is saying,
he points at a third factor here ;"Might is Right".
And I suggest that is a major key to negotiating peace settlements, where most debating parties insist on a deaf ear and will refuse to accept such concerns.
True relations that work need to take nation specific demands into account but good if they can be formulated into writing.
Might is Right may be given a name to describe "Individual Nation Concerns".
A Rules Based Order seems aimed at being valid for several countries but nothing seems to exist that acknowledges the unique security concerns of each INDIVIDUAL country. Russia could for example require that Ukraine remain neutral. And for them this is very important, even of existential nature. Such fundamental nation individual requirements must be given a name and be acknowledged as important since acknowledging such concerns may be key to avoiding conflicts and coming to lasting agreements that benefit global harmony.

  • @piotrberman6363

MIC is sometimes a "secondary" source of funding for MIC think tanks. Because their influence is so big, they can offer "protection". For example, many so-called Ukrainian oligarchs contributed generously to outfits like Atlantic Council, even though they are typically money grubbers with no profits explicitly connected to military, but they can be sanctioned or not, and if "sanctioned", the vigor can vary. Similarly with individuals from Gulf states etc. For similar reason, when a state like Qatar or Malaysia wants to get some favorable decisions, they hire lobbyists that are AIPAC alumni, hence proven track record of influence. Of course, weapon purchases by Gulfies are in part buying influence from MIC directly, a complicated eco-system of money streams.
