Just used this method successfully on a fairly young lantern (288A). Thanks for the advice and for keeping the video up. I used a socket, an extension, gear oil, and a rag.
Thanks for commenting. I've found out that not all pump tubes are the same diameter so I've developed something that works with most lanterns. Please send me a PM and we can discuss. Cheers.
Hey there I have the tool For that and use a hand pump grease gun to put on special tool that fits after check valve is removed screws in and the hydraulic pressure from the grease unclogs the tube
@@MikeFreda Nice to See other people restore lanterns also , I’ve been restoring Coleman lanterns for years , including painting tanks and installing new decals if needed , you have some nice lamps I see , your right it’s not common for the tube to be plugged but it does happen sometimes,
I should mention. That I do have a Check Valve Removal Tool I would like to order the aluminum plunger for freeing a clogged Air Tube I would love to have this tool. How can I contact you. Thank you
Hello, that’s an awesome idea, alternative was pumping in carb cleaner and other stuff which could take months, if you can make me one and a check valve tool I’d be greatful
Please PM me for more info. I can but I have found out that the pump tube vary in size from year to year and models. I have a new method for clearing air tubes. It’s no mess and works for most lanterns and stoves.
I have a 220D from a garage sale that I cannot pump. I simply cannot force the pump down. Taking out the check valve though, I can. Air goes in no problem... And if I can do that, it means my air tube isn't blocked, like yours was, right? The checkvalve appears clean and the BB rattles like it should. If I re-install the check valve and pump, I get the same result: I cannot press the pump down... Any ideas what could be the issue?
Thanks for your comment. This is a bit odd. First off, I would remove the CV and stem and just install the pump cup rod in and see if you can pressurize the tank. I suspect your CV is clogged at the tip. The ball may move but not allowing air to pass. Clean the check valve. I have another video on how to do that.
@@MikeFreda I had tried brake cleaner in the pump tube since that is all I had and left it in for a week and nothing. I finally got a can of carburator cleaner and after only one day the tube was clear without even using any pressure.
I see. Well, it was one of those cases where I fixed the lantern before I thought of recoding it. If you want a rod, please PM me and we can discuss. Cheers.
I would like to by one when you hove theme available

Great tip Mike, worked first time. Smart. russ
I tried soaking with parts cleaner for a week and an air compressor with 120psi and no luck so far. I will have to try this method.
I hope it works out for you! Cheers
