5:10 You can see parts of his Bradshaw rig in his 1992 instructional video (the one where he wears a purple jacket). It's the midi switcher (the audio switcher isn't shown though). It's basically the same as the Voodoo Lab Ground Control Midi pedal combined with the Voodoo Lab GCX audio switcher situation. Most of Yngwie's effects were in the loop(s) of the audio switcher (except for the analog delay he uses to create that funny effect at the end of his guitar solo spot, the wah and the DOD250 overdrive pedal).
Aw this is mint. I was hoping for a bit more guitar playing after the song. Just hear it raw like. Oh sorry there is little snippets. Sounds even better on it’s own!
I was going to add the isolated tack at the end but thought that might make the video too long. I might post it as a separate video in the future or I will do a full cover of the first part of trilogy.
@@ShredHeads Yeah I just like the sound. When doing videos like this I try and use the Paul Gilbert style. He does 80 per cent playing and just 20 per cent talking with no more than about 20 seconds of talking in between playing. It’s a sick sound though. Love Yngwie’s tone.
@@Taylor___ I get what you are saying but I often think people misunderstand the meaning of my nail that tone series. It was always meant to be more educational. Me showing off my chops and gear would be more entertaining but what people learn from that. I am passionate about teaching others because that's what I do for a living. I will probably start a few different series that focus more on just the sound. Because I know that people love watching that kind of content even if it's like 10 min of just riffing.
@@ShredHeads Yeah it’s cool man I enjoy it but only the first few mins and I also like the educational bit. Maybe some more looks at amp settings, tone settings, mic positions, pedals, software. I enjoy it though man. And you’re a sick player so it’s awesome to hear you shred 🤘
Hopefully you’ll do another early era Yngwie tone video using a real Marshall style amp and DOD 250 gray style pedal. I have a Strat with YJM-Fury’s and a custom SuperStrat with HS-3’s which are both humbuckers. The tone from the Trilogy album that I like best is Queen In Love. That’s my tone reference. Don’t have a Marshall but I have a VHT Special 6 Ultra combo with EL34 fitted, and also a Blackstar HT-1R combo for headphone cab emulation. Going over the way an OD pedal interacts with amp gain would be useful. I don’t think one has to necessarily have the pedal maxed out like you see all the time depending on the amp’s preamp gain and pedal feeding into that.
@@ShredHeads Yes yes, tuned to Eb of course. Point being that chord should be a minor chord, if anything. I think he plays it like a power chord (at least I can't hear the G string in there), but harmonically it "should" be a minor chord (harmonizing the Phrygian major/harmonic minor scale). That major third sounds super duper mega wrong to my ears. All that being said, great job and you're nailing the tone perfectly.
@@johnhuldt Thanks man, appreciate the kind words, I do have to respectfully disagree. Yngwie plays the song himself in that instructional video he made in the 1990's. You can look it up on youtube and play the chords along with him. He clearly plays a major chord. He fingers the chord in a Jimi Hendrix bluey kind of way but it's sonically major. On the record it sounds sonically a bit ambiguous so I get where you are coming from but I still hear it as more major than minor. The thing you have to remember about power chords is that they are tonally ambiguous (not major or minor), because they don't normally contain the third which would determine it's major or minor quality.
Delicious tone.
😆

Good to know 👍

Another great episode, Juan. I’m wondering, what pick do you use?
Thanks, Jazztone Large Dunlop 208.

I just don't own a plexi style amp at the moment. I did have one at one point and it was cool, pretty easy to get an Yngwie tone with it.
@@ShredHeads no problem I did see you said that in your intro. Looking forward to more stuff on your channel!
You shred !
👍
"Definitely" ;-)
Great video. Actually, the F chord on the intro is minor NOT major ;)
Hi, I don’t hear it as minor. Also it would NOT be a F it would be an E. Eb tuning remember.
Magnitizes studio windo too get that fender too sound thick
If you can do a video about yngwie tone using neural dsp should be nice.
I might buy some plug ins in the future if my channel grows enough.
You did not play an F major chord in the intro!
The guitar is tuned to Eb. That’s the tuning Yngwie likes to use. The correct chord would be E major, which I do play.

I did plan to do a slipknot episode in the near future.
