    The idea of checking off habits to motivate you not to later "lose" those checks is genius! Always wonderful to see how your using your Rocketbook notebook, Jake!

      Ya, something I find had been really helpful. It's based on the psychological principle of 'loss aversion' ✌

      I need to start doing habits as part of my own routine.

      It's been surprisingly helpful to actually track the habits I want to improve on. Just to know how good I am at actually accomplishing them, particularly when I get busy and it's easy to fool myself into thinking I'm only on a 'small' break from the habit...

    My coworker has been raving about her Rocketbook, so I got one a month ago. I have been experimenting with different weekly layouts for my work schedule and tasks. I enjoy being able to fine-tune the template until it's perfect for me, then I will Sharpie it in. I keep about 4 weeks at a time (2-page spreads), and I still have pages left for notes, program plans, etc. I've been working on organization and accountability about how I spend my work time. At the end of the day, I scan and send my planner page to my boss, so she can see what I got done and what I'm working on. It's helping me build better habits. And I can write out my plans/notes about an upcoming program, and easily share it with a coworker who's going to be helping me.

      Awesome use case! Thanks for sharing 👍 I predominantly use my Rocketbooks as agendas as well… for me, they just work for the same reasons you described ✌️

      @@JakeReevesVideo For me, just having one long task list got messy and confusing. So this week I'm going to have separate boxes: one for the routine tasks I do weekly, one for "must do this week", three small boxes at the top for the most urgent, and finally a box for ongoing projects or things to get to when I have time. I'll see how that design works.

      I’ve been doing something similar - I keep a priorities section with my TOP 3 for each day, then leave room for more traditional bullet journaling below, and I’ve found that helps to focus me when I feel like I could do any one of a million things 👍

    During my weekly review I transfer key points to my A5 bujo to more easily review quarterly and yearly. As much as I love Evernote I rarely go back to my old scans while I'll refer to my bujo effortlessly.

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Fair point. I don't do much reviewing of old bullet journal notes either, but knowing that they are there to reference if I need them provides peace of mind

  • @JohnClarkW

    The flipbook is my favorite too. I tend to use only the dots, but have been using the lines while brainstorming talks or planning presentations. I tend to do erasing on Friday afternoon, and do it before a weekly video gathering with the team. I also like being able to send notes to team members who missed a meeting, or had questions.

    Great video! Quick question, as you complete your tasks how do you “mark them as complete”? I am yet to purchase a rocket book yet but I’m just wondering if you cross through it, you won’t be able to see it when it’s uploaded/archived! Do you highlight them as you complete or any other method?
    May sound like a silly question but I’m only starting to get more organised so any pointers would be great!

    I have Skillshare but forget to use it. I need to put that down as a “habit”. Do you prefer the steno-style RocketBook? I think I’d like it best so the wire doesn’t get in my way. I think you can end up with more useable space to take notes.

    • @JakeReevesVideo

      I do. I have a whole Playlist 'Everything Rocketbook' with videos where I go into more details about it, but I really like the top-bound notebooks they offer. As well as the Orbit. Though, I'm really intrigued to see how their new Axis product feels.

    Jake, Thank you for al this great RB content. One thing that perplexes me: the "smart filename" system- making 16 pen strokes to 'save time'... is there an alternative, quicker method to quick tag a filename? TYVM

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Currently the Smart Titles feature is the only way to pre-configure a unique title each time. Within the Rocketbook App settings, you can change what the default title would be (have it based on the date of scan for example) but it wouldn’t be completely unique the way I require most of the time. Or, just leave it and type it out within the App during the scanning process. Good luck 👍

    I love the idea of creating templates. When you are ready to lock in a template with a sharpie do you trace over your fusion pen lines or erase and start over with the sharpie? If you make mistake when using the sharpie is there any way to erase and fix the mistake?

    • @JakeReevesVideo
      @JakeReevesVideo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You erase the page completely and use the Sharpie. Unfortunately, you just have to be very careful and try not to make mistakes. There are no super clean ways to erase permanent marker ink without damaging the page coating, as far as I know. Good luck! And make sure you use the ultra fine tip permanent markers to get a pen-like line width.

    • @JakeReevesVideo

      Oh, great question. I will have to think about putting together a video on this... For 3D sketching, specifically for design, I've always been happy with just the dot-grid pattern on some of the Rocketbooks, but I think I could whip up a few brainstorming templates at some point... Thanks for the suggestion 👍

    Would you consider doing a comparison of capabilities between the Rocketbook app & ScannerPro (free) by Readdle? I am tech-oriented and just started trying to use a couple of different Rocketbooks, but found it nearly impossible to sign into Evernote on the Rocketbook app… so I just created a new workflow for Rocketbook journaling in ScannerPro instead.
    I know I’m biased because I have started getting more strongly into the Readdle PIM ecosystem, but I’d be interested in seeing a comparison from you instead because you try these sorts of things and have a bit more of a bias towards what you’ve gotten working for your own system.
    Pls feel free to comment if you want more info on how I use workflows with my Rocketbook core & everyday planner. I’m starting to consider giving up on RB because I’m having such a hard time with frixion ink skipping on all the fine tip frixion pens (I’ve been using them for a looong time, so I have a wide selection) and I am struggling with trying to keep myself from pressing down with the pens because skipping on the everlast paper is such a big problem for me. (I’ve already used the wash with Dawn dish soap $!water trick, and that didn’t make any improvements, and I’ve already returned 3 different design RBs to Amazon thinking that the pens or products were defective.
    Anyway, thanks for your videos, you explore the kinds of questions I think about.
