I have been a hand engraver for 35 years, but I would always love to know more about your process of making and sharpening gravers. There's always room for me to learn.
Yes more videos on step by step ways to convert items into useful gravers or tools would be very beneficial to everyone I'm certain of that. I find your videos very easy to listen to as you speak clearly, instructive and make things interesting.ni got quite a lot out of this short video already. Thank you.
Hi Huiyi, great videos, your channel helped me make a beading tool that I needed the other day. Pove all the tips in this one. I think if you made a video explaining in the background how you make gravers ans tools would be very helpful! Thanks!
Thanks for your info. At 2:09, did you make that "tree" that all the round graver holders are stacked upon? If not, I'd love to know where to find something like that.
Instead of nail polish remover - which is very easy to get - I use acetone or isopropanol. Acetone is the main component of nail polish remover. If you can buy it by the liter, it is much cheaper than nail polish remover. Isopropanol is similar as it also works very well for removing permanent markers, but is not near as much of a health hazard as acetone. I normally use isopropanol except where it really calls for something more agressive (like transferring a pattern from a laser printed paper onto metal). Instead of a shaving brush I use paint brushes to clean up. Especially since I work with precious and non-precious metals. I don't like the idea of collecting steel dust instead of silver etc to send that in to my bullion dealer for purifying. That way I can make sure there is not so much non-precious metal in my dust container. Instead of a baking tray, I have made myself a aluminum lined drawer. Works like a charm. I can place my ball vise inside at the right height or I can use it to collect saw dust and filings.
@@HuiyiTan yeah, sadly; my dentist (who is absolutely wonderful and I am able to smile because of her) has a hard and fast rule due to being sued over it before. Apparently a lot of offices will now send in their used burs to the manufacturers
Great Ideas! And yes, please make videos describing how you shape gravers. 👍🏼🤗

Sadly, a lot of dentists in America will no longer give away their bits. :(
Even the one that just used on you? I can understand if they don't give away the ones that have been used on other patience.
Alieexpress and Amazon have them fairly cheap

@@p.wynnmarkstall1737 I did explain to my dentist what I want them for. Not sure if that helps.
@@HuiyiTan oh, they know - some of them have my work! But it’s not up to them, alas.
