Thank you for validating that women are not dramatic, Penn. I feel when people (mosty men) call women dramatic or emotional, our feelings are often dismissed and that is a symptom of sexism and ignorance. And a horrible feeling.

I definitely don’t believe Joe is glorified: in the show - but the fact that Joe has a hoard of admires in Real life, and women who are begging him to shove them in a cage... is more what Penn is speaking to.
After seeing Penn in this role I can honestly see him in a future MCU or DC film. For instance he'd be great as Harry Osbourne, Reed Richards, or Michael Korvac or for DC Reverse FLASH, Briany(Legion of Superheroes), or Nightwing.

The truth is if his character in YOU looked like Usher or Trey Songz then the audience would be fangirling over him in exactly the same way. It's based on what people perceive to be ATTRACTIVE and not race in my opinion. At the end of the day it's a TV show and handsome villains have always been the focus of teenage crushes as well as admiration and that's because we're all well aware that he's a FICTIONAL character. These shows are a huge part of our escapism so I wish Penn would give the audience some credit. It's not like they're adoring an actual serial killer. Joe is a TV character for goodness sake. Penn takes it all so seriously
