Hey, thanks for watching! :-D Also, I realize NOW looking at my quick magic performance at the beginning that it was not a flawless performance. Oh well... forgive me!! Maybe if I used more snappy rubber bands it would be better. Anyway! I thought Marcus Eddie was very entertaining, creative, and I love the stuff he makes. What about you?? What were your impressions? Comment below! AAAAND how did you like the ending to this video???? I try to spice it up sometimes... :-D
I think the "crumple" part of the trick is simple, many other tricks use a gimmick of the same type. The big question though is how he got rid of the deck so neatly. Unfortunately, there was some editing in the crucial moment...
Love your channel and you seem like a really nice guy. Can you keep doing the bit at the start on your intros where you go ‘about magic’ dunno why I think it’s cool and a good signature :)
I waited till the end just for the fable but there wasn't any this time! If this happens again, I may have to get my own book to sate my 'aesopy' desire :)
One of the rare times Penn showed a shock moment, meaning he was impressed when the empty card box was reveled to be a full deck of cards. When Teller is impressed, he has the most beautiful smile. This guy has some secrets that one day it will be let out of the bag. Enjoying him in the meanwhile.
I enjoy so much how you value and appreciate magicians rather than criticize them without mercy. Even when you say your opinion on an act where there is room for improvement, you do so with so much respect and appreciation for the work they do. Thanks so much for your refreshing attitude in a world full of trashing others.
You know what I enjoy the most about you and your vids Prof. Parker...is your aura it’s so calm and peaceful. If you ever visit the London we need to hang out.
I met Marcus about 2 years ago at the Carolina close up convention. He lectured and it was wonderful. I talked with him some afterwards and like you said he is truly a nice guy. Very happy and willing to take the time to talk magic.
Met Marcus years ago in Austin when he was working at a local magic shop. Super nice guy, has been great to watch him continue to succeed over the years.
The best magic from Jason P is that he raise interest in these people. Most of them I would just walk by. Who knows, maybe by this guy. Comes out, laughing with no reason (weed or what?) than does a double decker something of which he is closing painfully slowly and difficult. I mean, just how long it takes to close a deck for a professional magician? As for a 3 years old? I think I would've changed channel right there if it was not for Jason. He is a magic himself, for he sees magic in everybody.
I think starting from 2:53 idk how he closed the "fake thick part of the box" but in 2:56 u can see that he slides the empty part of the box (pushes it) into the real box so what it really is is just that the empty box is the extended part of the real box.
The deck has a “trap door” bottom for the ditch. It also has a flip down “grill” that Allison placed the card in. There was no deck when she placed it in the “grill”. He only had one card to grab and then smash the empty box. 👍🏼🇺🇸🤔 😉
I gotta tell you Jason! You’re as great of a human being as Marcus in my book. That’s why you got me (and my wife) hooked on watching your reactions to magicians and prefer them to the actual video from the Penn and Teller show. Thank you for giving us something nice to watch. Again I told you several times that you should try going to Las Vegas and fool Penn and Teller. There must be a trick that you can create that would fool them. It will be a dream come true to see you one day in their show. Best wishes as always man!
thanks soooo much for the kind words. It really helps to see some kind messages to help me get past all the random haters lol. And glad that you and your wife enjoy watching my vids together! :)
The saying is, “Didn’t know him from Adam”. It dates back vaguely to the Old Testament. But was later reinvented by a Western European writer somewhere around 1820 to 1850. And was turned into what we know today.
Marcus Eddie is one of my favorites, one of the best and innovative creators alongside Nicholas Lawrence and Calen Morelli. Genuinely nice dude, positive attitude, and your right, a beautiful human being, deserved the trophy 🏆 more than anything.
We've seen quite a few magicians come on "Fool Us" and do an escalating series of tricks, starting with some basic magic, then on to some stuff that fools everyone except the elite magicians, and ending with something that fools P and T, all the while sparing us any unnecessary banter. Marcus starts off by fooling P and T with a really good deck appearance, and follows up with some really basic card magic accompanied by the same lame joke repeated over and over again. Clever twist.
I learned this trick in an absolute random way. I was in class during middle school and I was playing with this big rubber band. Turning it around my wrist, my hands and my fingers. Than I realized I could've done some pretty cool stuff with it and came up with the same trick you're showing. I don't want to go any further to not ruin the trick to anyone. Anyways, love your contents. Big support from Italy
It only looked like he put an entire deck of cards in the box, but we only saw was the end of a fake deck of cards, appearing to be a real full deck of cards.
Man, Fool Us used to boast how cuts and edits were kept to a minimum to benefit the performers... but lately it’s getting almost as bad as AGT. Case in point, Allyson was holding on to the box of cards before they cut away to P&T and then he suddenly has the box in his hand to crush.
No one wants to hear applauds for 10 seconds during a trick... be apart of the audience to have the privilege to applause. It also avoids some of them to watch @ 0.25 speed ... It seems legit
Romain MOSKO Several performers have gone on TH-cam in recent months and expressed their disappointment in large portions of their routine ending up on the cutting room floor. My frustration is actually that they cut the performance to KEEP/ADD audience applause.
It's "didn't know me from What about Bob?" Very nice visual on the rubber band to the arm! By the way, Mr. Eddie's background music makes you feel like you're on a old TV detective show from the 60's. Always appreciate you taking the time to bring this from a pros perspective.
my guess on how he did the first part, was a it wasnt a normal box for the cards, i think it was extendable/a little longer so that when he tilts the deck forward so that you can see its empty- thats just a small empty cavity near the top to make it appear empty, while the cards are still there in the below/extended away from the audience
The beginning and end of the trick, when he made the cards appear and disappear, was super cool. I think that's what Penn meant. The card trick in between those two parts might have thrown Penn and Teller off the scent too because it had nothing to do with the actual trick,
Actually you can see he pushed the card all the way in the box. If you look closely you can see he actually closes the box completely and reopens it right as he has Allyson squeeze it.
Cool man, glad I accidentally stumbled across your Chanel. I love watching magic acts so It's convenient to know you have a bunch of videos I may have missed all bundled up in a nice little package with your opinions on them. I do want to say that I feel this guys performance had to be one of shortest non-exciting routines I've ever seen on P&T. That said, I still didn't know how he did it but I wasn't paying attention to the deck either time. I just figured it was slight of hand. For me the biggest surprise was that he fooled them. It's funny, I forgot that the "Dangerously pointy" trophy says F.U. Thanks man. Nice job! ^!^
The last trick had too much editing at the end to see what happened. 5:25 is the last time we see the deck in Alyson's hand, then it cuts to P&T, then in the next shot he's holding the deck. But we never actually see it as empty, we only assume it because he crumples the deck package. But the deck was filled with the cards after he hid them in his pocket, and he loaded them in somewhat awkwardly at 4:52, so I think it was a gimmick, like maybe all the cards except the top and bottom had a large part of the middle cut out so it could be crumpled but still look like a regular deck. As for the appearing cards (2:50) he did a good job hiding the back of the deck packet with the top flap - where something the thickness of a full deck could easily be concealed.
I believe when he pulled Alysons signed card from the box, he used the tab to index the position to pull it out. WRT the “appearance”, I believe one side of the box was missing and the cards were just outside with the first card seen in the “empty box”, being blank, made it appear to be a complete empty box.
I'm really sad they skipped Penn and teller's reaction to his ultimate trick. If it fooled them both that badly that would have been worth seeing. One of my favorite parts of the show is their expressions (especially Teller's) when something really amazes him. For someone who doesn't talk he may be one of the most expressive magicians I've seen.
“I didn’t know him from a hole in the wall.” Or “I didn’t know him form a hole in the ground.” No idea why either of these make sense Oh, also: “I don’t know him from adam.”
not sure if you know but this "It's not a card trick" at the screen in the back is a reference to the famous picture "this is not a pipe" showing a pipe painting.
how did they get fooled on this? It was clear that the cards were pushed out of the box, hidden behind the flap as he showed it you can see it at 2:48 as he reaches to pull the flap, he actually pushes his finger into the deck which can be seen being pushed out ....then when he put it in his pocket, he pulled out a fake...it looked like a deck, but was hollow and had a collapsible support in the middle of it for alysson to press down on....and when he crushed it you could clearly see that the top 1/5 of the box could not be crushed, as this was hollow deck needed to have a "real" top for alyson to insert her card into
I like his Rene margritte reference on the background screen and he did the Zelda opening a chest sound when he opened the box revealing the cards at the beginning. That's a nerd level I can appreciate
With these P&T videos, the key moments can often be edited out so they aren't visible on a rewatch. I believe that happens at about 4.48 where we see P&T reacting (where Jason happens to pause it), but we don't see him take the cards out his pocket. I don't believe that after he puts the cards in his pocket, the cards ever come out again. Instead we are seeing some kind of gimmick that locks like cards, but is easy to collapse, for the rest of the trick.
My thaughts: for the first empty deck, I think there is a printed sticker with some 3D template that hide the cards and make the illusion of seeing the bottom of the "empty" box. Vanishing, I think what he pulled out of his pocket is not a real deck (deck switch in pocket), can be some 52 frame-cards empty in the middle, this way it looks like read deck and it allows you do crush it.
If you pause at 3:12 you can see bottom side of the box is not part of the cards he pulls out. There is like little cap between. When he closes the box first time it seems like he does too much movements for that.
I'm pretty sure he used Reload for that performance. It's the next evolution of Loaded. I bought Reload back in 2017, if I remember correctly. Before I bought it, I was completely baffled at how clean the "appearances" were in his performances, so I can see why Teller said that. But I also agree with you, the ending was pretty epic. I like that he bookended really great effects. I was left wishing the in-between was better though. I agree with you, I was able to follow all of those pretty basic moves. Regardless, it was well deserved. He is such a joy to watch.
Marcus has such infectious positive energy, he's really having fun performing. His Ring Heist is good fun to perform (more rubber bands) and he appears in Eric Jones Metal 2 too.
that was a cool trick, i enjoyed it very much thanks, and i am with you i didn't see the second part but the first was easier to spot...as soon as you get back Jason, you should react to Kevin Li on Fool us, that is some hoodoo voodoo there
The first trick (The one that fooled them): It's a trick card box, where one entire side is removable. When he opens it, he does it in a very specific, awkward looking way where the lid is actually hiding the cards behind it, showing the empty box. Just as he's closing the lid, he's pushing the cards back into the box through the side of it (I've never actually seen how this trick is done. Just figured it out based on the awkward way he held the box) The last trick (they somehow know how he did this): I have NO idea where the cards went.
He ditched the actual cards in his pocket at 4:30 then pulled out a fake deck because he never fanned out the cards again. What Allison squeezed was a small part of the box that was hidden in the wadding up of the box.
lol your fucking videos are really cutting down on my work productivity. new subscriber, really entertaining to watch while you give your comments on what's going on, really makes you appreciate what's going on more
For those of you that didnt get what he was trying to do.... In him saying that "this is not a card trick", meaning that that was not the part he was trying to fool Penn and teller with. It was all misdirection for the vanishing and disappearing of the cards. The trick probably started as a great idea of how to vanish the cards but he needed some filler. I think he could emphasize that he knew the filler tricks were a bit of a joke as Penn and teller do sometimes.
Dear Jason, love your channel and your value additions to your reactions. I am more impressed with your fitness though please add fitness tips to your videos too.
obviously when he showed the empty box and held the flap off to the side the cards were behind the flap. How he got them into the box. Well maybe the box was not a fully enclosed box. It has a open side but the cards hiding behind the flap once pushed in had the cover side of the box on top like a card
Alison was in on it. at 4:58 she knew the box was empty before he crushed it. She only had 2 places to put it. He should work on that gimmick to make it look like actual cards.
Not seen him before, but this is what it would look like if Eddie Murphy was a magician lol. The appearance and vanish were a lot better than everything in between.
GagamBino 319 When he put the deck back in the box it was after he put the deck in his pocket. I assume it’s some sort of gimmick that looks like cards but is some sort of paper or something that he could crumple up.
Hey, thanks for watching! :-D Also, I realize NOW looking at my quick magic performance at the beginning that it was not a flawless performance. Oh well... forgive me!! thanks very much :) :) I would be happy to meet up if I end up there again
I believe at 2:49 you can maybe see that the box is thick, with a false, folding empty box part. At 2:50, he is hiding the full box behind the lid.
I met Marcus about 2 years ago at the Carolina close up convention. He lectured and it was wonderful. I talked with him some afterwards and like you said he is truly a nice guy. Very happy and willing to take the time to talk magic.
To be honest i didn't know about "Marcus Eddie", or maybe i just don't remember him but thanks to you i found another awesome guy!
Met Marcus years ago in Austin when he was working at a local magic shop. Super nice guy, has been great to watch him continue to succeed over the years.

Marcus has this incredible charisma and charm. Such a nice person.
In Australia, we say, “he didn’t know me from a bar of soap” who knows how the saying came to.
haha... thanks for sharing that
Good job man on those videos
Keep going , your a good man
From Palestine all the respect
Agree. Marcus Eddie has a great on stage presence.

I didn't know who Marcus Eddie was until i saw him on Fool Us, and the beginning of the trick fooled me as well 😅.
Nice reaction video, keep it up
Love how he took a Magritte concept and put his own stamp on it.
I wonder if he had that as a conscious inspiration. Or even a subconscious one, for that matter.
The saying is, “Didn’t know him from Adam”. It dates back vaguely to the Old Testament. But was later reinvented by a Western European writer somewhere around 1820 to 1850. And was turned into what we know today.

Marcus Eddie is the best! He has a lot of creations that is important for worker magicians like me.👌

even if the box had a special trap door on the side, you can sort of see a flap, but on slo-mo its still close to perfect the way he did it.

I think he switched the deck with a gimmick when it was in his pocket, so that would mean that the editing is not hiding anything :)

Very very very well delivered by Penn!!!!

I figured out real quick how he did the rubber band trick, it was cool. Gonna give it a try myself soon
I've seen marcus eddie do a couple of tricks on scam school...it's a TH-cam channel
Armband is one of my favourite Marcus Eddie effects, I always have bands on my arm, so it's easy to drop into.
What did you think of the way I performed it? Any suggestions for me to improve? :)

Yeah I have heard him.. and I have made his empty and reloaded version at my home and its awesome..
Cool to see another upload. And yeah, it's "I don't know him from Adam." not Jake LOL
never change this intro dude ! fantastic !!
That trophy 🏆 Looks so dangerous
My thaughts: for the first empty deck, I think there is a printed sticker with some 3D template that hide the cards and make the illusion of seeing the bottom of the "empty" box.
Vanishing, I think what he pulled out of his pocket is not a real deck (deck switch in pocket), can be some 52 frame-cards empty in the middle, this way it looks like read deck and it allows you do crush it.
3:14 Penn: Oooooooooooooooh
Teller: Don't worry bruh I got that one.
Regardless, it was well deserved. He is such a joy to watch.
awesome video dude I remember seeing this at the table live lecture anyway man awesome video I really love this channel
Marcus has such infectious positive energy, he's really having fun performing. His Ring Heist is good fun to perform (more rubber bands) and he appears in Eric Jones Metal 2 too.
so he is not a magician only, cause he also does new tricks for magicians.he is a master of magic that also performs .
The only thing I really recognize is that he seems to "close" the card box twice in the beginning.
He was hiding the cards behind the deck, and the deck itself is magical, right?
The Pen handshake tho @ 9:00
Hahahha love your outrooo !!!
hahaha thanks!! I imagined it like a samurai vanishing....
that was a cool trick, i enjoyed it very much thanks, and i am with you i didn't see the second part but the first was easier to spot...as soon as you get back Jason, you should react to Kevin Li on Fool us, that is some hoodoo voodoo there
I agree the first part of the cards appearing in the box fooled me.
I LOVE his #Refill trick; sadly, I got to his site a little too late the day he released it to be one of the select few to purchase it.
The card that appeared from what seemed no where,
may have been hidden behind the the flap of the box.
Nope
You’re funny. I can’t wait to see a legit magician who’s not happy or funny but is totally grumpy and depressed lol!!!
The frames during (TS) 2:07 you will start to see the chain on his left side coming under his shirt
Just figured it out based on the awkward way he held the box)
The last trick (they somehow know how he did this): I have NO idea where the cards went.
He ditched the actual cards in his pocket at 4:30 then pulled out a fake deck because he never fanned out the cards again. What Allison squeezed was a small part of the box that was hidden in the wadding up of the box.

sorry... another one is available now in the video I published tonight :)

*Yay!* 😊😊😊
Great video! Marcus is the best ♣️ ♥️♠️♦️
So that appearance? Look closely at the box as he's opening it. There's an additional flap; which P&T may not have been able to see from that distance
Wasnt this trick also called Empty? But it looks like he's updated it and renamed it to Loaded.
Hey can anyone give me the name of the move he did in the intro? The move the card fly back to the deck after being dealt
I made a tutorial for how to do this on my Patreon :)
I believe the expression you was looking for was “didn’t know you from Adam.”
I saw a solid jumbo coin routine that's how his name rings bells but I never taught he was huge in magic nice knowing
i am at 1:34 ..the rubber band is the clearly visible man on your wrist!! it never left your wrist.
Hey I like your content dude! keep it up! :)
thanks! :)
what about his black jacket sweater thing??
Dear Jason, love your channel and your value additions to your reactions. I am more impressed with your fitness though please add fitness tips to your videos too.
But did'nt Shin lim also teared apart a card box supposidely filled with cards ?
Fantastic!
Didnt know you from adam is the expression ure looking for jason
That (not a) card trick was awesome.
Marcus Eddie has an effect called OPEN and it's really good
obviously when he showed the empty box and held the flap off to the side the cards were behind the flap. How he got them into the box. Well maybe the box was not a fully enclosed box. It has a open side but the cards hiding behind the flap once pushed in had the cover side of the box on top like a card
Nice fade out at the end I lold
hahaha! Glad SOMEONE noticed and appreciated that... 15 minutes of my life I'm never getting back .... ;)
It seems to me to be the trick called V deck by Peter Nardi and Alakazam magic
"didn't know me from jake" lol man
If you want to see if the card is pushed in or not see 5:22
Alison was in on it. at 4:58 she knew the box was empty before he crushed it. She only had 2 places to put it. He should work on that gimmick to make it look like actual cards.
holographic image (of an empty box) at the beginning that he just removed and stuck to the sticky part of the box
Jason
Please review Richard Turner's appearance on Fool us
Not seen him before, but this is what it would look like if Eddie Murphy was a magician lol. The appearance and vanish were a lot better than everything in between.
My guess is that the box has an image of an empty box on its cover but yeah I have no idea how he crumpled it empty 🤔
GagamBino 319 When he put the deck back in the box it was after he put the deck in his pocket. I assume it’s some sort of gimmick that looks like cards but is some sort of paper or something that he could crumple up.
@@Balance33 that makes much more sense than the one I was thinking.. I was thinking that he was using a speciAl deck of cards🤭🤭🤭
