you're lucky your pond is still there , mine aren't ! Although i'm 35 years older than you , it was still pretty rough going back and most everything is completely different ! Guess what I'm saying is enjoy it , visit it , share it while you can , and make more good memories and pass along good advice ! Yes , mine were on Long Island ! and small game hunting was great , upland birds plentifull and deer were making a great push west ! believe it or not !
I loved the intro. I have a interesting history and have done the same through the years no one would know. I started in salt but got into fishing lakes for 10 years mostly largemouth bass fishing around westchester then back and forth to the salt. i moved near the Susquehanna and became a river and creek angler for 10 years exclusive fishiing for smalies trout catfish and muskie mostly and got back to the salt for the past 15 years. I try to keep a balence now but certainly lean to the salt. very good video really enjoyed it!
Same place I started fishing fresh water back in ‘76. I fished the other pond mostly, though which was much more productive. We tried our best to bring over as many bass as we could to help stock it! The stream that runs between them held a spawning population of native brook trout which would drop back down in the lake during cool temps. They didn’t stock trout in it back then
@@Bsprecksfishing not sure, but used to see tiny fingerlings in it as well as Brookies up to 12”! The pastor who lived in the house on the bigger lake used to let kids fish it. Loaded with 12” bass with an occasional 24+” monster
Hey man, I'm in a similar situation. My daughter who is 9 and I want to go fishing but my local spot is now dredged & crap. (Canaan) also *west lake- patchogue bluepoint is very nice but often packed. I know they just put some trout in. But if you come up with anything better appreciate any suggestions thank you.

Nice fishies, and cool spots!! I love the underwater footage. That was sweet. Trudging through murky water is definitely scary. I done seen snapping turtles so big, they’ll take ya whole leg off at the knee! =P Great video!
Deff not Canaan lake lol.. I'm pretty new to fishing, looking for any good spots to take my daughter ( loves and really wants to get into it). Our 2 spots for lakes were Canaan ( quite a few bass and pickerel***2017**) And west lake. Trying to do salt water also but it's always crowded at Corey and patchogue marina. First place is a great pond. Monster bass in here. Used to fish here a lot when I was much younger. Almost impossible to fish there if your not a local resident.
@@michaeldel2192 it’s out East. You won’t be able to fish there comfortably. You’ll get ticketed and towed away immediately. You need to be a resident.
@@michaeldel2192 you prob already have. But lake Ronkonkoma is the best. Get yourself some waiters. Start by windows on the lake and keep walking to your left or to your right. It’s all open with plenty of shore access but your better off waitering out a little.
Im from long island as well .. nice video . I didnt know we had freshwater ponds creeks and lakes .. its good to know by the way where in long island is this?
I remember going to this pond, I have to admit I never pulled any hogs out like you hahah. I remember the metal bridge and weird steps but what the name again?

Wow!! I never knew there was native brook trout in that creek, that is so awesome. Wonder if there are any left, if not what a shame
@@Bsprecksfishing Too much pollution. All that green is from excess fertilizer everyone sprays on their lawn. Chokes out everything.
