    One of the greatest, albeit, never talked about battles I've ever seen in nascar.

    Fun Fact: Kurt Busch celebrated with Robby Gordon visiting him in Victory Lane, with Kurt saying that it reminded him racing against Ricky Craven at Darlington.... which was, arguably the BEST NASCAR finish EVER...

    Back when the cars actually had the ability to be driven on edge and took talent to drive unlike the garage that is now.

    I know the 2006 Busch Series season gets a lot of criticism for essentially being the beginning of the abundant presence of Cup Series drivers but there were plenty of great races that year like this one.
    I'd take more Cup guys in Xfinity now if it meant the younger drivers could learn from some of the best.

    • @davidpeters2625
      @davidpeters2625 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely 110% Agreed!

    • @brianc4695
      @brianc4695 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It's really a shame that we can't have experienced guys in the lower series without them utterly dominating. It would be great to watch upcoming talent duke it out with the established guys but realistically the Cup Series drivers would just blow everybody else out of the water, especially when they're running top tier equipment.

    • @briangriffinfamilyguyfan81
      @briangriffinfamilyguyfan81 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There shouldn't be any Cup drivers in Xfinity nor Trucks at all

    • @davidpeters2625
      @davidpeters2625 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, I remember watching NRH with Joey and Brad, and they made a good point: if you completely annihilate the cup guys out of the few truck and Xfinity Series, how would the young guys learn how these tracks with no tips and guidance from the Cup guys, that know these tracks like off the back of their hand?

    This is what happens when you have the two most agressive, and arguably two of the best to ever hold a steering wheel against each other.

    My favorite era of Robby Gordon’s nascar career was when he drove for Richard Childress in the late nineties and early 2000s.

    You'll never see that kind of last lap move again as long as they keep using the stupid splitter.

    Foreshadowing of the 2012 Finger Lakes 355? This was only the second time they raced at Watkins Glen after they returned from a sabbatical that lasted from 2002-2004. Get rid of the splitters NASCAR, Nixon is sending you a message!

    If Robby actually managed to pass him and win, this would undoubtedly be one ofvthe greatest passes in motorsports history

  • @evanwilliams6406
    @evanwilliams6406 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I liked these cars and the way things were, the drivers could drive these cars on edge and race each other and get into each other without tearing the car up. If you did this in the car they have now, they would be out of the race with a bent splitter. These cars took talent to drive and this is the kind of racing that the fans love to see. You don't see this type of racing anymore just like quarterbacks and receivers getting drilled over the middle with good clean football play, this type of stuff is a lost art now. This type of stuff made the Saturday something to see, back then I used to watch a lot of Busch races almost as much as I did the Cup Series, now I could care less because of a lack of racing like this.
